Been maining Azir on and off since season 5, and the SKT T1 Azir skin holds a weird sentimental spot for me. Not because it reinvents the champion or anything close to that. It’s an esports tribute skin, and those live or die on how well they capture the moment. This one does enough. Barely. Could be wrong here but I think Faker’s Azir at Worlds 2015 was one of those performances you just dont forget, and Riot bottled a piece of that into this skin.
Visual changes and what you actually notice in game
SKT T1 Azir swaps the default color palette for the red, white, and black SKT branding. The soldiers get the full SKT treatment, which is the biggest visual shift you’ll notice in lane. Their spears and shields carry the team’s logo, and honestly thats the main selling point right there. Soldiers are what you stare at for 35 minutes straight on Azir, so having them themed matters more than the model itself.
New VFX on the abilities. The Q send and W soldier spawn both have that clean red energy trail. Nothing dramatic, nothing that changes how the ability reads in a teamfight, but enough that it feels distinct from base Azir. The recall animation is where they put the effort. Azir summons a trophy, the Summoner’s Cup specifically, and it’s a nice touch. Quick and clean.
Voice lines stay base. Standard voice, no new lines, which is expected for a 975 RP esports skin. The model itself is solid for what it is. Red and white robes, the SKT crest on the back. Playing this skin, the VFX really pop against the green of Summoner’s Rift, especially the soldier autos. I ran this in ranked last Tuesday around 2 AM and the red soldier poke in bot lane specifically just reads well against the river backdrop.
The 2015 World Championship line and release context
SKT T1 Azir dropped August 17, 2016. Part of the World Champions: 2015 skinline celebrating SKT’s dominance that year. Victor ‘3rdColossus’ Maury handled the artwork, and honestly the splash captures Faker’s Azir energy pretty well. The whole 2015 set had a certain polish to it that earlier Worlds skins lacked.
No chromas on this one. Zero. The World Champions skins never got that treatment, which I think is fine. Adding chromas to an esports tribute skin would feel off. The red and white is the point.
Legacy vault skin, so you cant just walk into the shop and grab it. Hextech only these days unless Riot brings the esports skins back for a Worlds event window. Seen maybe 3 of these in my games all season, which tracks for a Legacy esports skin on a champion with Azir’s play rate in Diamond. (Random aside: Azir mains are a dying breed and we all know it.)
Should you pick up SKT T1 Azir?
Real verdict: 975 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX, new recall, clean model with the SKT branding. Not gonna lie, if you watched that Worlds run live, this skin carries weight beyond the pixels. It’s not competing with Elderwood Azir or the Warring Kingdoms version on pure visual spectacle. Different lane entirely.
For Azir mains who care about esports history, this is a must-own. For everyone else climbing ranked on Azir, you’ve got better options for the RP. The soldiers look good, the recall is fun, but you’re paying for the legacy more than the cosmetics. Been daily driving Elderwood personally this season, but I swap back to SKT T1 Azir when I want to channel that Faker engage energy before hitting R into their backline. Worth it for mains, skippable if you’re just passing through the Emperor’s court.
