Prestige Firecracker Vayne

First time I saw Prestige Firecracker Vayne load into my game I genuinely thought it was a custom skin someone modded in. The gold is so aggressive compared to the base Firecracker version that it reads like a completely different skin. Been running this on and off since early 2019 and the novelty of that golden shimmer still hasnt worn off for me.

The golden treatment and what it changes

So the whole concept here is taking Firecracker Vayne and dipping it in liquid gold. Not subtle about it. The outfit swaps the red Lunar Revel palette for white and gold, and the result is cleaner than you’d expect from a Prestige reskin. Vayne’s crossbow gets this ornate golden finish that catches light during auto attacks in a way that’s actually distracting if you’re trying to cs in lane.

The VFX got the Prestige treatment too. Her Q tumble leaves gold particle trails instead of the red firework sparks. Condemn bolts have that golden flash on impact. Could be wrong here but I think the W proc rings read slightly different from base Firecracker as well, more of a warm amber pulse versus the standard red. Silver Bolts third hit still feels satisfying to land, just shinier now.

Recall animation is where the skin flexes hardest. Vayne does this celebratory Lunar Revel sequence with golden fireworks popping behind her. Pretty clean loop. Voice lines stay base though, same Nika Futterman performance you get on default Vayne. No VO refresh. For a Mythic tier skin released in season 9, that tracks. Riot wasn’t doing new voice work on Prestige editions back then.

(Random aside: I used this recall to BM after a 1v2 bot lane around 3 AM on a Wednesday and my duo literally told me the gold particles woke him up through screen share. Worth it.)

Lunar Revel origins and the 2019 Prestige wave

Prestige Firecracker Vayne dropped January 28, 2019. Right in the middle of the Lunar Revel: Firecracker event. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen handled the artwork and the splash captures the skin’s energy perfectly. Vayne posed with that golden crossbow against a night sky full of fireworks. Strong composition.

This was part of Riot’s first big Prestige push. Season 9 was when they started attaching Prestige skins to event passes, and Vayne was one of the earliest champions to get the treatment. The Lunar Revel: Firecracker line had been running for a few years at that point, but this Prestige variant gave the skinline a premium anchor it didnt have before.

No chromas on this one. Makes sense given the Prestige designation. The whole point is the golden colorway, adding chromas would kinda defeat the purpose. Available now if you can get your hands on it through the Mythic shop rotation. Mythic Essence is the currency these days. Not gonna lie, the acquisition method has changed so many times since 2019 that keeping track is its own minigame.

How it plays in actual ranked games

Took this into Diamond ranked for maybe 40 games last season. The auto attack animations feel identical to base Firecracker in terms of responsiveness. Some Vayne mains swear certain skins mess with their kiting rhythm but I never felt that here. Tumble cancels are smooth. The golden particles on W proc dont obscure anything in teamfights, which matters when you’re trying to track cooldowns in a messy 5v5 around dragon pit.

One thing I noticed playing this skin specifically in bot lane: the gold VFX on Condemn are actually easier to read against most wall textures on Summoner’s Rift. Might be overthinking it but pinning their Leona into the river wall last Tuesday felt like I could see the stun connect a frame earlier than usual. Placebo probably. Still felt good.

Spammed this in Diamond during the Lunar Revel event when it first came out and it turned heads in loading screen. These days you see it less. Maybe 4 or 5 times all season in my games. The Prestige skins from 2019 have that vintage flex energy now. Five years old and the gold still pops.

Real verdict on Prestige Firecracker Vayne

Straight talk: this is a solid Mythic skin that does exactly what Prestige editions should do. Takes an existing good skin and gives it a premium colorway with enough VFX changes to justify the grind. It’s not reinventing Vayne’s kit visually the way something like PROJECT does, but it’s not trying to.

Best Vayne Prestige? I think so. The 2022 re-release version exists too but the original 2019 border hits different for collectors. Overpriced if you’re spending Mythic Essence and dont even play Vayne. But for Vayne mains who want something that screams “I was here in season 9” while still looking clean in modern League, this is the pick. Top choice for ADC players who lock in Vayne and want the lobby to know they mean business. The gold crossbow alone carries more presence than half the Legendary skins in the game. Keep it or skip it, but if you main Vayne, you already know the answer.
