First time I saw Old God Ivern load in, I thought someone was playing a different game entirely. Not gonna lie, this skin turns the friendliest jungler on the Rift into something that looks like it crawled out of a Lovecraft novel. Ivern’s whole deal is being the happy tree guy, right? The kind support jungle pick that nobody expects. Old God flips that completely. Dark, twisted, eldritch horror energy. Played maybe 30 games with this the week it dropped back in December 2020 and my duo kept saying Daisy looked like she belonged in a boss fight.
The visual overhaul on Old God Ivern
So what actually changes here. Ivern gets this corrupted ancient god look with deep purple and dark teal running through his model. The antlers are massive, gnarled, covered in what looks like hanging moss or tentacles. Hard to tell honestly. His whole silhouette reads completely different from base Ivern. Bigger presence on screen.
The VFX work carries this skin hard. Q roots have this dark energy trail that feels heavier than base. W brush spawns with eerie particles, like the ground is rotting where the bushes grow. E shield has that old god purple glow. The recall animation is where Riot went all in though. Ivern performs this ritual summoning thing and Daisy emerges from the ground looking absolutely terrifying. Daisy herself got the full treatment, twisted stone golem with glowing eyes, way more intimidating than default.
Kinda feels like this is the skin where Riot finally figured out what to do with Ivern’s kit visually. His abilities always felt a bit soft in terms of impact feedback. Old God Ivern makes your Q connect feel like it matters, the root visual is thick and reads cleanly in teamfights. Been running this in Diamond and I can say the brush placement with W actually looks threatening now, which is funny for a support jungler. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the skin doesnt need it. The visual shift does enough.
Coven universe and the splash
Old God Ivern sits in the Coven skinline, which is one of Riot’s better thematic universes. The Old Gods are the ancient powers that the Coven witches worship. Ivern fits naturally as this corrupted nature deity. Released December 10, 2020, late into season 10.
Xuning Cui and Kudos Productions handled the artwork. They cooked. The splash shows Ivern towering over a dark forest, Daisy lurking behind him, everything drenched in that signature Coven purple and teal palette. (Random aside: this splash is genuinely one of the best in Ivern’s entire catalog, I had it as my desktop background for like three months straight.)
8 chromas available if you want variety. Tanzanite leans into the dark purple harder than base which I think works best for the theme. Emberwood goes for this dark crimson and magenta combo that reads like blood magic. Pearl flips the whole palette light, almost angelic, which creates a cool contrast with the eldritch model. Could be wrong here but I think Emerald actually clashes with the skin’s identity since green pulls it back toward default Ivern territory.
Is Old God Ivern worth 1350 RP?
Real verdict: if you play Ivern at all, this is the skin. Period. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across all abilities, a genuinely incredible recall, and Daisy’s redesign alone justifies the price. For an Epic tier skin this overdelivers.
The competition in Ivern’s skin pool isnt exactly stacked. Candy King is fun but gimmicky, Dunkmaster is a meme pick. Old God Ivern is the only one that makes the champion feel serious on the Rift. Been maining Ivern with this equipped since season 11 and I keep coming back to it over everything else. Last ranked session around midnight on a Tuesday I got three compliments on the Daisy model from random teammates. That never happens with Ivern skins.
Shop has it, permanent availability. If you’re an Ivern one-trick or even just someone who pulls him out for jungle clear variety in comp, this is first choice. Skip the chromas unless Tanzanite or Emberwood specifically catch your eye. The base palette already nails the old god fantasy. S-tier Ivern cosmetic, not close.
