First game I played with Mythmaker Jhin was a late night ranked session, maybe 1 AM on a Thursday. Locked it in bot lane with zero expectations and the loading screen splash alone had me sitting up straight. Santiago Parra and Pandart Studio nailed the splash. The whole Mythmaker aesthetic leans into this theatrical, almost operatic energy that fits Jhin better than most champions in the roster. Not gonna lie, I had high expectations after seeing the previews and the skin mostly delivers.

How Mythmaker Jhin plays differently

This is a full Legendary with new voice lines, new VFX, and a new recall animation. Paul Guyet brought something slightly different to Jhin’s VO here. The lines feel more ceremonial, more ritualistic. Fits the Mythmaker fantasy where Jhin treats every kill like a performance piece for an audience that doesnt exist.

Q bounces leave these ornate golden trails that feel clean in lane. Not distracting, just enough visual flair to track the grenade without losing cs. W is where it gets interesting. The root indicator has this red and gold burst pattern that reads beautifully in teamfights. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season and the W never felt unclear even in messy 5v5s around dragon pit.

E traps got the full treatment too. Little paper lantern designs that sit on the ground looking almost decorative. Caught a Kayn stepping on one near baron last week and the proc animation is satisfying every single time. Could be wrong here but I think the trap visibility is slightly lower than base Jhin, which honestly works in your favor when you’re setting up zone control.

The R though. Curtain Call with Mythmaker is the highlight. Each shot fires with this red and gold ceremonial burst, and the fourth shot. Chef’s kiss. The execution marker feels heavier, more deliberate. Been spamming this in Diamond and the ult alone justifies the purchase for Jhin mains. The recall animation ties it together with Jhin performing this elaborate ritual, very on-brand for the character.

The Mythmaker line and where Jhin fits

Mythmaker released January 23, 2025. Late into the season. The Mythmaker skinline has been one of Riot’s more interesting thematic choices. Draws from East Asian mythology and festival imagery. Jhin slots into the line naturally because his whole identity is performance and artistry.

Mythmaker Jhin sits in the Legacy vault now so you cant just grab it from the shop whenever. Hextech only these days unless Riot brings it back for an event rotation. Kinda feels like they made this one limited to drive urgency, which is annoying for a Legendary at 1820 RP.

6 chromas total. Obsidian is my go-to, strips the gold down to dark tones that make Jhin look like a shadow puppet master. Sapphire hits different if you want a cooler color palette, the blue contrasts hard against the Rift’s green. Rose Quartz exists for the people who want pink Jhin and honestly respect that choice. (Random aside: Obsidian Mythmaker Jhin is currently my ranked lobby flex pick just for the intimidation factor.)

Comparing to Jhin’s other skins

Jhin has one of the best skin catalogs in the game. Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin is the obvious competition at the top end. High Noon Jhin still holds up after years. Blood Moon Jhin was the original “perfect thematic fit” skin. So where does Mythmaker land?

Real talk though, Mythmaker Jhin competes directly with Dark Cosmic for best Legendary. The VFX are cleaner and more readable in my opinion. Dark Cosmic goes for spectacle, Mythmaker goes for precision. For an ADC skin where you need to track your fourth shot and position around backline threats, I think Mythmaker’s visual clarity wins in actual gameplay. Season 14 I bounced between both and kept coming back to Mythmaker for ranked specifically.

The voice lines carry this skin hard. Where Dark Cosmic leans cosmic horror, Mythmaker leans into the craftsman archetype. Jhin talking about his art through the lens of mythology rather than the cosmos. Different flavor, both excellent. Been maining Jhin with this since it dropped and the VO hasn’t gotten stale which is rare for me with Legendary skins.

Should you buy Mythmaker Jhin?

Verdict time. Full Legendary price at 1820 RP and it earns it. New VO, clean VFX across all abilities, a recall that actually fits the character fantasy. The Mythmaker skinline works for Jhin in a way that feels natural rather than forced.

Main issue is the Legacy availability. If you’re a Jhin one-trick you needed to grab this when it launched or hope for a reroll. Maybe just my experience but I’ve seen maybe 5 of these in my games since release, which tracks for a vault skin. For Jhin mains its an S-tier cosmetic. For casual Jhin players who already own Dark Cosmic or High Noon, you’re not missing anything critical but the skin is genuinely excellent if you can get your hands on it. Top pick for Jhin mains, no question.
