Mythmaker Zyra

First game I played with Mythmaker Zyra was a late-night ranked session, maybe 1 AM on a Wednesday. Locked her in support, and the loading screen splash alone had my duo saying “wait thats new.” The Mythmaker line leans hard into Lunar New Year festival aesthetics, lanterns and gold filigree everywhere, and Zyra wears it well. Not sure if it’s just me but something about the color palette on this one just clicks with her plant theme in a way I didnt expect going in.

Visual overhaul and what Mythmaker brings

For 1350 RP you get the full Epic treatment. New VFX across all abilities, new recall animation, and a completely reworked model. Voice lines stay base, no VO refresh. The plants are the star here. Her Q spawns these red-and-gold festival flowers that look like paper lanterns blooming out of the ground. Gorgeous stuff.

W seeds have this warm golden glow before they sprout. In teamfights when you’ve got three or four plants up the whole area looks like a Lunar festival exploded across the Rift. E root vines trail red ribbons as they snare, and the visual clarity is actually decent – your ADC can tell what’s a root and what’s decoration. Been running this in Diamond support games and the R is where it peaks. Stranglers of Thorns erupts with this massive burst of crimson petals and gold sparks. Clean VFX, reads well even in chaotic 5v5s around dragon pit.

The recall has Zyra summoning a small garden of festival flowers, sitting among them while lanterns float upward. Short and sweet. (Random aside: the recall music sync is oddly satisfying, I’ve let it play out in lane more than I should admit.)

Kinda feels like Riot put extra care into the plant models specifically. Each thorn spitter and vine lasher gets the Mythmaker treatment with ornate golden trim. Compare that to some older Zyra skins where the plants feel like afterthoughts. Played maybe 40 games with this skin across two patches and the plant clarity never bothered me once, which is more than I can say for Dragon Sorceress.

Mythmaker skinline and release context

Mythmaker Zyra dropped January 12, 2023. Season 13 start, right around the Lunar New Year event cycle. Sora Kim and West Studio handled the artwork, and they cooked on the splash. Zyra’s posed mid-cast with festival imagery swirling around her, plants erupting through stylized clouds. The composition sells the fantasy hard.

The Mythmaker line itself has some solid entries. Irelia and Sivir got skins in the same wave. Zyra fits the theme naturally since her whole kit is about growing things, and the festival-garden angle writes itself. Could be wrong here but I think Mythmaker Zyra is one of the better executions in the set. The theme doesn’t have to stretch to accommodate her the way it does for some other champions.

10 chromas total if you grabbed the bundle. Tanzanite shifts everything to a deep purple that reads like a night market vibe. Gilded goes black-and-gold, legitimately premium looking. Pearl is the cleanest one, pale whites and soft blues, almost feels like a separate skin. The rest are solid but those three stand out. Legacy vault skin now, so you’re waiting on rotation or rolling it from Hextech.

Is Mythmaker Zyra worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: if you main Zyra support this is a strong pickup. The VFX clarity on plants during lane phase and teamfights is genuinely good, which matters when you’re trying to zone the backline or peel for your carry. Been maining Zyra with this skin since it came out and I keep coming back to it over Coven, which says something.

This Epic sits comfortably in her top three skins. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get – full VFX suite, good recall, model that actually transforms how she reads on screen. Real talk though, if you missed the initial sale you’re stuck waiting for Legacy rotation. Might be overthinking it but the Gilded chroma with the black-gold palette is almost mandatory if you can find the bundle. Worth it for Zyra mains, skip if you already have Coven and only play her occasionally. Simple choice – huge difference in how the plants feel in game.
