Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin

First time I saw Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin load into a game I genuinely stopped moving for a second. Just stood in fountain staring at the model. Not gonna lie, Riot does not hand out the Mythic tier label lightly and this skin earns it. The whole cosmic horror angle on Jhin works so well it almost feels like this should have been his default fantasy. Four shots, the universe collapses. Perfect fit.

What the Erasure variant actually brings

So if you know regular Dark Cosmic Jhin you already have a baseline. Erasure takes that concept and cranks the destruction dial. The VFX overhaul is complete. Every ability looks like its tearing through the fabric of space. Q bounces carry this warped gravitational distortion that reads clean even in chaotic teamfights. Been running this in Diamond ranked since it dropped and the Q bounces are genuinely easier to track than base Dark Cosmic.

W is where it gets wild. The snare line stretches out with these collapsing star particles. Feels like youre firing a beam that erases whatever it touches. Thematic naming on point for once. E traps pulse with dark energy, black holes sitting on the ground waiting for someone to walk through. Had a game last Wednesday where I trapped their Kai’Sa in river and the trap detonation VFX actually made my duo think it was a different ability entirely.

The R though. Curtain Call with this skin is peak Jhin fantasy. Each shot fires out with cosmic debris trailing behind it, and the fourth shot. Four. You know how Jhin mains feel about four. The final shot has this massive implosion effect that genuinely looks Legendary-tier or above. New voice lines ship with this one too, which matters for a Mythic. Jhin’s dialogue leans harder into the cosmic destroyer persona. Quinton Flynn on the VO, same actor as always, but the processing and new lines give it a different weight. The recall animation pulls Jhin into a void collapse sequence. Short but dramatic. Exactly what you want.

The Dark Star line and where Erasure fits

Dark Star is one of Riot’s strongest skinlines. Period. The original Dark Cosmic Jhin already sits in most players’ top 5 Jhin skins lists and Erasure exists as the elevated Mythic variant of that concept. Released August 30, 2023, middle of season 13. Marie Magny and West Studio handled the splash art, and they captured this sense of cosmic scale that most splash pieces dont even attempt.

Kinda feels like the Dark Star line peaked with Jhin honestly. Thresh and Jarvan have solid entries but Jhin’s obsession with perfection and performance maps so naturally onto a cosmic entity consuming stars. The Erasure twist adds the annihilation layer. Not just cosmic power but cosmic ending. Could be wrong here but I think this is the best execution of the “upgraded Mythic variant” concept Riot has done.

No chromas on this one. Zero. Which tracks for Mythic tier skins generally. The color palette is locked into that deep void purple and collapsing-star gold. Changing it would undermine the whole vibe so I’m not mad about it. Special pricing since its Mythic, you cant just walk into the shop and buy this with RP like a normal skin. Available through the Mythic shop rotation, so keep your Mythic Essence stacked if you want it.

Who should actually get this skin

Real verdict: if you play Jhin at all, this is S-tier. Maybe the Jhin skin if you can only own one, though I know thats controversial because regular Dark Cosmic and High Noon both exist. (Random aside: I have all three and Dark Cosmic Erasure is my lock-in for ranked while High Noon stays as my ARAM comfort pick. Dont ask me why, season 13 superstition I think.)

The new VFX on every ability, the voice work, the recall animation. Full package for a Mythic. Played maybe 40 games with this skin across two patches after release and the Q and R visuals never got old. That says something for a champion I’ve been maining since season 8 or 9 dont remember exactly. The Dark Star skinline context gives it narrative depth that standalone skins lack.

Real talk though, the Mythic Essence cost means you’re spending a premium currency. If you’re saving for something else in the Mythic rotation, think about whether Jhin is truly your main or just a pocket pick. For one-tricks and ADC mains who default to Jhin in solo queue? No question. Lock it in. For the casual Jhin player who picks him once every 15 games in bot lane specifically, might be better to hold your Essence. But if you care about having the definitive Jhin cosmetic in your collection, Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin is it. The skin reads as Legendary+ in practice even though it sits in Mythic tier technically. Worth the grind.
