First time I saw Definitely Not Udyr loading in, I thought someone was trolling champ select. Nope. Just Udyr in a trenchcoat and sunglasses pretending to be a totally normal human being. Been running this in Diamond for a couple seasons now and honestly the reactions in all chat never get old. Pure comedy pick.
What actually changes on this skin
So the whole concept is Udyr hiding his animal stance forms under a disguise. The trenchcoat, the fake mustache situation, the sunglasses. Its basically Udyr trying to sneak into a fancy restaurant and hoping nobody notices the bear claws. The stance swaps still show through the disguise which is the whole joke. You shift into Phoenix and the coat flaps around, go Tiger and you can see him barely holding it together.
No new VFX on this one. Standard voice lines, no changes there either. For 975 RP thats expected. But here’s what caught me off guard: the recall animation is actually custom. Udyr does this whole “act natural” bit during the recall that killed me the first time I saw it. Small detail but it sells the skin.
Not gonna lie, the model work carries everything here. The way the disguise interacts with his stance animations creates these funny visual moments during teamfights. Last week around midnight I was splitpushing top lane and my jungler pinged me like three times because he thought I was a minion. The silhouette is that different.
The Definitely Not skinline and release context
Definitely Not Udyr dropped March 31, 2015. Right around the time Riot was really leaning into the joke skins. The Definitely Not line includes Blitzcrank and Vel’Koz too. Concept is simple: champions in terrible disguises. Blitzcrank started it, Udyr took the bit and ran with it.
No splash artist credited on this one which is a shame because the splash is genuinely funny. Udyr standing there looking suspicious as hell. The Definitely Not line doesnt get enough love from Riot honestly. Could be wrong here but I think this skinline peaked with Udyr specifically because his whole stance-shifting fantasy clashes so hard with the “normal guy” disguise.
975 RP, permanent shop. No chromas available which I get, the skin is already a one-note joke and chromas would dilute it. Voice pack is base only. Sean Rohani’s base VO works fine with the skin though because hearing aggressive spirit walker lines coming from a guy in a trenchcoat adds another layer to the comedy.
Should you buy Definitely Not Udyr?
Real verdict: this is a mains-only purchase. If you play Udyr regularly in ranked, this skin makes your games more fun without sacrificing anything gameplay-wise. The recall alone is worth the lock-in. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. Not the flashiest Udyr skin by any stretch. Dragon Oracle and Inkshadow both look cleaner for competitive play.
(Random aside: I use this skin exclusively in normals with friends because the bit never gets old and someone always asks what champion I’m playing.) Played maybe 40 games with this last season. Kinda feels like the skin gets better the more you understand Udyr’s kit because the visual comedy of stance dancing in a trenchcoat hits different when you’re actually cycling through forms properly in a teamfight. Skip this if you want something serious for climbing. Grab it if you want to make your duo laugh every game. Available any time in the shop, no vault rotation to worry about.
