First Xayah skin ever released and honestly it set the bar pretty high. Cosmic Dusk dropped alongside Cosmic Dawn Rakan back in April 2017, barely a week after Xayah herself hit live servers. Riot wasnt messing around with that launch timing. The whole concept takes Xayah out of her Ionian rebel fantasy and throws her into this celestial destroyer vibe that just works. Played maybe 40 games with this skin the week it came out and something about the purple-black feather trails in teamfights made me want to keep locking her in.

What Cosmic Dusk actually changes

For an Epic skin at 1350 RP this one delivers where it counts. The feathers. Every single feather Xayah throws gets this dark cosmic treatment with deep violet and indigo particles trailing behind them. Her Q sends out two feathers that leave these streaking purple lines across the lane, and in a chaotic teamfight where you’re pulling feathers back with E the screen just lights up. Not gonna lie, the E recall on feathers is the best part of this skin. Period.

W gives Xayah this cosmic aura effect and her basic attacks during it scatter feathers with a darker, more menacing particle set than base. The ult is where things get interesting though. She leaps up and instead of the standard Ionian red you get this burst of cosmic energy, dark purple expanding outward. Looks clean when you’re diving the backline to dodge a Syndra ult or something. Been running this in Diamond for seasons and I still think the R animation reads better than most of her other skins.

The recall animation has her conjuring cosmic energy between her hands, pulling star matter together. Pretty standard recall concept but the color palette sells it. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is expected for this tier. (Random aside: the recall animation pairs perfectly if your Rakan is running Cosmic Dawn next to you. The duo recall thing wasnt a feature yet but the visual synergy is there.)

The Cosmic line and release context

Cosmic Dusk released April 18, 2017. Season 7. Xayah and Rakan had just launched as League’s first duo-release bot lane pair and Riot immediately gave them matching Cosmic skins. Smart move. The Cosmic skinline is one of Riot’s more consistent themes, sitting somewhere between Dark Star’s void horror and Star Guardian’s anime energy. Xayah fits the darker end naturally.

Kelly Aleshire nailed the splash. The composition has Xayah mid-feather throw against this swirling cosmic backdrop, and the contrast between her dark silhouette and the bright star formations behind her is solid work. I think its one of the better splash arts from that era honestly. Could be wrong here but I feel like early Cosmic skins had more personality in their splashes than the later batch.

No chromas on this one. Zero. Which makes sense given it launched in 2017 before Riot went all-in on the chroma pipeline. Shop has it permanently so you can grab it whenever. Available any time, no vault nonsense.

Should you pick up Cosmic Dusk Xayah?

Real verdict: this is a strong first skin for Xayah and still holds up years later. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX overhaul on feathers is genuinely impactful for gameplay clarity and style. Last Saturday I played against a Xayah running base skin and the difference in feather visibility reminded me why I keep Cosmic Dusk in rotation.

If you’re a Xayah main climbing through ranked this season, you’ve got options now. Star Guardian exists. Elderwood exists. Brave Phoenix went hard. But Cosmic Dusk has this understated edge to it that the flashier skins don’t match. Kinda feels like the skin for people who actually play Xayah versus the skins people buy because they look cool in the shop. Best executed of the original Cosmic batch if you ask me. The feather particles do the heavy lifting and for an ADC where feather management is your entire kit, that matters more than a fancy recall.

Skip it if you already own Star Guardian or Brave Phoenix. But if Cosmic Dusk is your first Xayah skin purchase, you wont regret it. 1350 RP well spent for mains who want clean VFX without the noise.
