Cosmic Skins

All 20 skins in the Cosmic skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Cosmic skin in League of Legends.

Cosmic is one of those skinlines where Riot clearly had a vision and stuck with it. Purple-blue nebula aesthetics, celestial armor, stars baked into every particle effect. Been playing League since season 5 and I remember when Cosmic Reaver Kassadin first showed up in 2015. Thought it was just a one-off cool skin. Eight years and 20 skins later, the line is one of the more cohesive thematic sets Riot has put together. Not every champion fits the cosmic fantasy equally, but when it clicks, it really clicks.

What Makes the Cosmic Line Stand Out

The color palette is what ties everything together. Deep space purples, electric blues, gold accents on armor pieces, and star-field textures woven into capes, weapons, and VFX. Could be wrong here but I think Cosmic has one of the most recognizable visual identities in the entire game. You see that nebula swirl on a champion and you immediately know what skinline you're looking at.

Shared VFX elements across the line lean heavily into celestial imagery. Abilities leave trails of stardust. Auto attacks on most Cosmic skins have this faint shimmer that catches your eye in lane without being distracting. The recall animations tend to feature constellations forming around the champion, which is a nice touch that keeps the fantasy consistent. Splash arts across the board use that deep space backdrop with nebula clouds. Consistent quality there.

What separates Cosmic from something like Dark Star is the tone. Dark Star is corrupted, menacing, world-eating energy. Cosmic is the opposite end of that spectrum. Guardians. Protectors. Celestial order. The champions in Cosmic skins look like they're defending the universe, not consuming it. Not gonna lie, I think that contrast is why both lines have survived this long. They complement each other perfectly.

(Random thought: if Riot ever did a Cosmic vs Dark Star event with a pass and missions, that would print money. Surprised it hasnt happened yet.)

The splash art style evolved over the years too. Early Cosmic splashes from 2015-2017 had a more painterly, slightly muted look. The newer ones from 2022 and 2023 pop harder with more saturated colors and sharper detail. You can literally track Riot's art pipeline improvements by lining up Cosmic Reaver Kassadin next to Cosmic Invoker Illaoi. Night and day difference in fidelity.

Best Cosmic Skins Worth Your RP

Cosmic Lux. The only Legendary in the line at 1820 RP, and it earns every point. New VO, completely reworked animations, the whole package. Her Q fires this beam of concentrated starlight that looks better than half the ultimates in the game. Played maybe 150 games on this skin across seasons 10 and 11 and the thing that keeps me coming back is the ult animation. That giant laser of cosmic energy cutting across the Rift just hits different in a teamfight.

The voice lines sell the fantasy hard. Lux sounds like she's channeling the power of actual stars, not just throwing light around. Kinda feels like Riot put extra effort into the VO because they knew this was the anchor skin for the entire line. Best Lux skin? Debatable with Elementalist existing, but Cosmic is cleaner in actual gameplay. Less visual noise.

Cosmic Reaver Kassadin holds a special place. Dropped back in November 2015 and it was the skin that launched the whole line. The blade redesign is sick. Purple energy sword with star particles on every auto. Been maining Kassadin on and off since season 6 and this is still my go-to skin for him in ranked. The R blink leaves behind a small constellation at the departure point. Clean detail.

Cosmic Devourer Vladimir surprised me. Vlad doesn't scream "celestial guardian" at first glance but the execution works. His pool turns into this dark nebula puddle on the ground and the E charge-up has these orbiting star particles. Took this into ranked last season around December and it felt smooth. The blood magic reimagined as cosmic energy is a creative stretch that pays off.

Cosmic Queen Ashe is another standout. Her arrow trail in the ult is gorgeous. Full stop. That thing flying across the map looks like a comet and the stun impact has this burst of starlight. Might be overthinking it but I think Ashe's kit translates to the cosmic theme better than almost anyone else in the line. Arrows become shooting stars. Natural fit.

Cosmic Blade Master Yi rounds out my top five. The Alpha Strike leaving star trails as he bounces between targets is clean visual feedback for tracking resets in a teamfight. Solid Epic for 1350 RP.

Which Champions Got the Cosmic Treatment

20 champions in total. Thats a decent roster for a non-event skinline that's been building since 2015. Not all of them fit the theme equally though.

Kassadin and Lux are the obvious standouts. Champions whose kits involve energy manipulation translate naturally to the cosmic aesthetic. Varus works too. Cosmic Hunter Varus has this great Q charge-up where stars coalesce into the arrow. Nami fits surprisingly well. Cosmic Destiny Nami turns her wave into a tidal force of celestial water which sounds weird on paper but looks great in game.

Some picks feel more forced. Skarner in the Cosmic line is a choice. Cosmic Sting Skarner exists and it's fine, but a crystal scorpion wearing star armor doesn't carry the same thematic weight as a mage channeling cosmic energy. Same deal with Hecarim. Cosmic Charger Hecarim is serviceable but the horse fantasy and the space fantasy don't mesh as naturally.

Bel'Veth was a newer addition from 2023 and honestly she fits. Cosmic Matriarch Bel'Veth leans into the "ancient entity from beyond the stars" angle which tracks with her base lore. The Xayah and Rakan duo skins, Cosmic Dusk and Cosmic Dawn, were a smart call. Couple skins in a celestial line. Makes sense thematically and sells bundles.

(Sidebar: I keep waiting for Cosmic Syndra. Floating orbs that are literally planets or stars? Come on Riot. That skin designs itself.)

Illaoi was a 2022 addition and Cosmic Invoker Illaoi is better than it has any right to be. The tentacles as cosmic tendrils reaching from deep space? Played against one in Diamond last Tuesday and had to tab out to check what skin it was because the tentacle VFX looked that different from base.

Tier and Price Breakdown

Here's where the Cosmic line is interesting. 19 out of 20 skins are Epic tier at 1350 RP. One Legendary at 1820 RP, which is Cosmic Lux. No Ultimate, no Mythic, no budget options below 1350. Pretty uniform pricing.

This means the line lives or dies on the quality of its Epics. And honestly? Most of them deliver. At 1350 RP you're getting new models, new VFX, new recall animations across the board. The consistency is above average for an Epic-heavy line. Compare that to something like the Marauder or Warden lines where the Epics feel like glorified chromas. Cosmic Epics actually put in work.

Real talk though, the lack of a second Legendary feels like a missed opportunity. Eight years of the line existing and only Lux got the full treatment. Kassadin deserves a Legendary upgrade at this point. Maybe Ashe too. The Epics carry the line well but a couple more Legendaries would elevate it from "solid skinline" to "must-own collection" territory.

Price range of 1350 to 1820 RP means you're looking at maybe 27,000 RP to own every Cosmic skin. Not cheap. But you dont need all 20. Cherry-pick the five or six that hit your champion pool and you're set. Maybe 8,000-10,000 RP for a strong Cosmic collection.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmic Skins

How many Cosmic skins are there?

20 Cosmic skins total as of 2023. The line started with Cosmic Reaver Kassadin back in 2015 and Riot kept adding to it over eight years. Not sure if they're done expanding it but 20 is already a solid roster. Most skinlines don't make it past 10 so Cosmic has legs.

What is the best Cosmic skin?

Cosmic Lux takes it for me. Only Legendary in the line, new voice lines, completely reworked animations. The ult alone is worth 1820 RP. If you don't play Lux, Cosmic Reaver Kassadin and Cosmic Queen Ashe are the best Epics. Been spamming Kassadin with that skin since season 6 and it still holds up.

Which champions have Cosmic skins?

20 champions total. The highlights are Lux, Kassadin, Ashe, Xayah, Rakan, Varus, Vladimir, Master Yi, and Nami. Newer additions include Bel'Veth and Illaoi from 2022-2023. Mix of mages, fighters, supports, and a couple ADCs. Decent spread across roles honestly.

Does Cosmic have Legendary skins?

One Legendary. Cosmic Lux at 1820 RP. New VO, new animations, the full Legendary package. Everything else in the line is Epic at 1350 RP. Kinda wish Riot would give Kassadin or Ashe the Legendary treatment too but for now Lux carries that tier alone.

When did the Cosmic skinline release?

First Cosmic skin dropped in 2015 with Cosmic Reaver Kassadin. The line kept growing through 2023 with Cosmic Matriarch Bel'Veth being one of the latest additions. Eight years of releases. Riot clearly sees this as a long-term thematic investment not just a one-off batch.

Are Cosmic skins worth buying?

Most of them are solid for 1350 RP. The VFX quality across Cosmic Epics is above average compared to other skinlines at the same price. Cosmic Lux at 1820 RP is worth it if you play her regularly. Could be wrong but I think Cosmic is one of the safer skinlines to buy into blind. Few duds in the bunch.

Do Cosmic skins have chromas?

Several Cosmic skins have chromas available. The newer releases from 2022-2023 tend to have more chroma options than the older ones. Cosmic Lux has chromas that shift the color scheme from purple-blue to other palettes. Worth checking individual skins if you want color variety on top of the base cosmic look.

Will Riot make more Cosmic skins?

No official confirmation but the line has been active for eight years across multiple releases. Fair warning, Riot tends to cycle skinlines in and out of rotation so there might be gaps between batches. 20 skins deep and the theme still has room to grow. Champions like Syndra, Orianna, and Aurelion Sol feel like obvious candidates.
