Spirit Visage is a 2,700 gold Magic Resist item in League of Legends for champions who heal or get shielded a lot: 400 Health, 50 Magic Resist, 10 Ability Haste and 100% Base Health Regen in patch 26.21. Its Boundless Vitality passive increases heals and shields you receive by 25%.

What does Boundless Vitality boost?

Everything that heals or shields you grows. That includes your own effects (lifesteal, Omnivamp, the self-heals in your kit) as well as anything a teammate casts on you. So an enchanter’s shields and heals land 25% bigger on you than on anyone else on the team.

The regeneration stat works quietly in the background. 100% Base Health Regen doubles your champion’s natural Health regeneration, which mostly shows up in lane, between trades, when you’d otherwise have to back. Small? Yes. But over a long laning phase against poke, it saves real trips to the fountain (and real gold, since you buy fewer potions).

The passive scales with how much healing is already happening. A juggernaut who heals off every ability gets a lot from it; a tank with no sustain gets only the stats. Is your champion’s kit full of healing? Then the number on the tooltip understates what you’ll actually feel in a long fight (healing over a whole teamfight adds up fast).

Is Spirit Visage gold efficient?

Yes, at 106%, even before Boundless Vitality. The four stats are worth 2,867 gold against 2,700 gold.

Line by line: 400 Health at 2.67 gold per point gives 1,067 gold, 50 Magic Resist at 20 gold per point gives 1,000, 10 Ability Haste at 50 gold per point gives 500, and 100% Base Health Regen adds 300. To be fair, Magic Resist only matters if the enemy has magic damage to block, so against an all-AD team the stat line is worth less than the table claims.

Which items go into it?

Two: Spectre’s Cowl (1,250 gold) and Kindlegem (800 gold), plus 650 gold. Spectre’s Cowl is the natural first step against a magic damage lane, since it already holds most of the Magic Resist and all of the regeneration. Kindlegem first if you want the haste and Health sooner. Nothing builds out of it.

How has the item changed?

Its Magic Resist has bounced up and down for years. Riot’s data has it from 2013. The recent changes:

  • Patch 10.23: cost 2,800 → 2,900 gold, Magic Resist 55 → 40.
  • Patch 12.11: Magic Resist 40 → 50.
  • Patch 13.14: Magic Resist 50 → 60.
  • Patch 14.19: cost 2,900 → 2,700 gold, Health 450 → 400, Magic Resist 60 → 50.

Cheaper and leaner, then: a trade, not a straight nerf. Honestly, the item’s identity hasn’t changed much in all that time: Health, Magic Resist and a healing boost. If you want to compare it with the other resistance items, our item list shows each one’s patch log.

Who should buy Spirit Visage?

Fighters, juggernauts and tanks with self-healing, especially when the enemy team has meaningful magic damage. It’s also a strong pick on champions who sit next to an enchanter support, since every heal and shield from that support grows.

Who should look elsewhere? Champions without any healing, who’d get the stats and little else. Against burst mages, Kaenic Rookern is the other big Magic Resist option, built around a magic damage shield rather than healing. Look, the choice usually comes down to one question: does your champion heal? If yes, and the enemy deals magic damage, Spirit Visage is close to an automatic buy.
