Udyr ARAM Build and Guide
Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.
A Udyr ARAM build turns his stance dance into a tanky brawler: Iceborn Gauntlet, Spirit Visage, Jak’Sho, The Protean and Thornmail, on Mercury’s Treads. Blazing Stampede gets him in, Iron Mantle keeps him alive, and Wingborne Storm hits the whole clump. He’s one of the few champions Riot leaves alone here: damage dealt is listed at 100%, which means no change.
Item picks below come from his patch 26.21 kit; we skip win-rate charts entirely.

How is Udyr changed in ARAM?
| ARAM modifier | Udyr |
|---|---|
| Damage dealt | 100% |
He isn’t. The wiki lists damage dealt at 100%, and a value of 100% means no change, so Udyr plays with exactly the same numbers as on Summoner’s Rift. No damage taken modifier, no healing cut, no shield cut. That’s rarer than you’d think (most champions carry at least one tweak). Riot apparently sees him as neither too strong nor too weak on one lane, which, honestly, matches how he plays: good in skirmishes, easy to kite in big fights.
Why does Udyr fit the Howling Abyss?
Short fights, constant contact and enemies who can’t go far. His patch 26.21 kit:
- Bridge Between (passive): four stance abilities, each recastable for an ultimate version; every ability grants Attack Speed on his next two attacks.
- Wilding Claw (Q): Attack Speed and two empowered hits; the recast adds lightning strikes. Cooldown 6.
- Iron Mantle (W): a shield and two healing attacks; the recast adds a bigger shield and max-health healing. Cooldown 6.
- Blazing Stampede (E): Move Speed and a stun on the first attack against each target; the recast gives brief immunity to immobilizing effects. Cooldown 6.
- Wingborne Storm (R): a slowing storm around him; the recast makes it chase enemies for more damage. Cooldown 6.
Blazing Stampede is his ticket into a fight. On a narrow bridge he can run into the clump and stun each enemy he touches, one at a time, while the recast protects him from the crowd control the enemy throws back. Wingborne Storm then slows everyone around him. Iron Mantle cycles shields and heals every few seconds. Where does he struggle? Against teams that kite and poke, since he still has 125 range and no real dash.
What should a Udyr ARAM build focus on?
Durability with items that reward casting often. He uses an ability every couple of seconds, so effects that trigger after an ability fire constantly.
Iceborn Gauntlet comes first. Spellblade makes his next attack after any ability deal bonus physical damage and drop a frost field that slows, and since every stance swap is an ability, the field shows up again and again. It brings Health, Armor and Ability Haste.
Spirit Visage second. Iron Mantle is a shield plus a heal, and Spirit Visage’s passive pushes both up by 25% (two buffs for one item). Add 400 Health and 50 Magic Resist.
Jak’Sho, The Protean third: 5 seconds into champion combat, his bonus Armor and Magic Resist climb by 30%, and Udyr is in champion combat most of the game.
Thornmail finishes it, returning magic damage and Wounds to attackers, useful against the marksmen trying to kite him. Mercury’s Treads add 30% Tenacity for when the Blazing Stampede immunity runs out.
How do you play Udyr on the Howling Abyss?
- Recast Blazing Stampede to engage. The recast adds more Move Speed and brief immunity to immobilizing effects.
- Touch as many enemies as you can; the first attack against each target stuns.
- Cycle Iron Mantle between other stances. Its shield and healing attacks keep you alive in long fights.
- Recast Wingborne Storm in the clump so the storm tracks enemies for extra damage.
- Don’t chase kiting marksmen forever. He has no dash beyond Blazing Stampede’s speed.
How do no-recall shopping and Mark change the plan?
Shopping waits until the fountain after each death. Iceborn Gauntlet is the first full item, and for what it’s worth, an Armor component on an early death is never wasted. Iron Mantle gives him healing of his own, so he can leave health relics for teammates who need them more (well, unless he’s very low).
When the Mark snowball connects, you can dash straight to that champion. Spells are fixed before loading. For Udyr, Mark is a great pick: it’s the gap closer his kit lacks. Snowball, dash, then Blazing Stampede stuns the target on the first hit. Flash works too, but Mark comes back more often, which suits a champion who wants to start every fight.
Is Udyr worth playing on the Howling Abyss?
Put simply, he’s a decent pick. With no ARAM modifiers at all, he keeps his full Summoner’s Rift strength, and the narrow lane makes Blazing Stampede easier to use. Teams with a lot of poke and disengage can still keep him away, so pair him with a team that wants to fight.

Long story short, the Udyr ARAM build is Iceborn Gauntlet, Spirit Visage, Jak’Sho and Thornmail on Mercury’s Treads, with Mark as the gap closer and Blazing Stampede to stun his way through the clump.
FAQ
Does Udyr have ARAM modifiers?
Wiki data for patch 26.21 lists only damage dealt at 100%, which means no change. He plays with his normal numbers.
What items should Udyr build in ARAM?
Iceborn Gauntlet, Spirit Visage, Jak’Sho, The Protean and Thornmail, with Mercury’s Treads.
Why Iceborn Gauntlet on Udyr?
Its Spellblade passive triggers on his next attack after any ability, and he uses abilities every few seconds, so the slowing frost field appears constantly.
Should Udyr take Mark in ARAM?

How did we put this Udyr build together?
Each item supports part of his patch 26.21 kit, Iron Mantle and the stance swaps above all. No win-rate data was involved.
