Yasuo ARAM Build and Guide

Updated for patch 26.20. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.

A Yasuo ARAM build starts with a small buff: in ARAM, Yasuo gets 2.5% more attack speed. The bigger factor is the map. Grouped enemies make his Q whirlwind easier to land on several targets, and Last Breath holds every airborne enemy in the area in the air.

Item suggestions here are editorial and based on what each item does in the current patch. We don’t use win-rate data.

How is Yasuo changed in ARAM?

ARAM modifier Yasuo
Attack speed 102.5%

Only a small attack speed bonus, and no change to damage dealt or taken. His ARAM strength comes from the grouped fights.

Why does Yasuo fit the Howling Abyss?

  • Way of the Wanderer: crit chance and a movement shield that triggers when a champion damages him.
  • Steel Tempest: the third cast knocks enemies airborne, and grouped enemies make multi-hit whirlwinds common.
  • Wind Wall: blocks all enemy projectiles for 4 seconds, which matters on a map full of poke.
  • Sweeping Blade: dashes through enemies, and the minion wave gives him a path in.
  • Last Breath: holds every airborne enemy in the area, so one fat knock-up locks down the whole enemy team.

What should a Yasuo ARAM build focus on?

Crit and safety. His passive increases crit chance, so every crit item you buy goes further. Infinity Edge adds 75 Attack Damage and 30% crit damage. Navori Flickerblade (40% Attack Speed, 25% crit) lowers the remaining cooldowns of his basic abilities with every attack, so Wind Wall and Steel Tempest come back sooner. Death’s Dance (60 Attack Damage, 50 Armor) spreads part of the damage he takes over 3 seconds.

On ARAM you eat poke the whole walk up, so a defensive item early matters way more here than on the Rift.

How do you play Yasuo on the Howling Abyss?

  • Wind Wall the poke. It blocks projectiles for 4 seconds, and on a map full of poke that is a lot of damage blocked.
  • Dash through the wave. Sweeping Blade needs targets, and minions give you a path into the fight.
  • Look for team knock-ups. Last Breath works on any airborne enemy, including those knocked up by allies.
  • Grab relics on the way in. There is no recall to heal, and he needs to reach melee range.

How do shopping and Mark change the plan?

ARAM has two rules that mess with your entire gameplan. You can’t recall to buy items, so you shop at the fountain at the start and each time you respawn (plan the next item before you die, not after). Health relics sitting in the lane are your only way to sustain between deaths. And the mode’s summoner spell, Mark, throws a snowball that lets you dash to the target it hits.

For Yasuo, Mark is an extra way in when the minion wave is thin and Sweeping Blade has nothing to dash through. You pick it before the game loads, and it stays fixed for the whole match. Honestly, that spell pick matters as much as your first item.

What do those numbers mean in a fight?

Is 2.5% attack speed worth anything? A little: over a long fight it adds a few attacks, and every attack can crit thanks to his passive.

The map matters more than the number. Everyone’s stacked in ARAM, so your third Q can clip several champions, and Last Breath locks down every airborne target at once. One good whirlwind can set up the whole fight.

Who is hardest for him on the Howling Abyss? Champions who stop his dash, like Poppy, and teams with lots of crowd control that lands before Wind Wall is ready. Our counters page has the full reasoning.

Is Yasuo good in ARAM?

He can be. The thing is, he depends a lot on his team: allies with knock-ups give Last Breath far more chances. With a team full of poke and no engage, he has a harder time. For the Summoner’s Rift side, see our Yasuo counters guide. His skins are on the Yasuo skins page, and items have stats and history in our LoL items database.

Put simply, a good Yasuo ARAM game comes down to blocking poke with Wind Wall and pressing R on a fat group knock-up.
