Navori Flickerblade turns basic attacks into cooldown reduction. For 2,650 gold in patch 26.21 you get 40% Attack Speed, 25% Critical Strike Chance, 4% Move Speed and the Transcendence passive, and that passive makes every basic attack cut your basic ability cooldowns by 15% of what is left on them, which is why ability-heavy marksmen like it.

What does Transcendence do?

Each attack shaves 15% off the remaining cooldown of your Q, W and E. Not the ultimate, only the three basic abilities.

The word remaining matters. If a spell has 10 seconds left, one attack takes away a second and a half, the next one takes a bit less, and so on, so the passive gives you the most on long cooldowns right after you cast them. Pair that with 40% Attack Speed and the attacks come fast enough that a 12 second ability can be back in a few seconds of hitting something. Does it work on minions? Yes, which is why champions who farm with attacks between spells feel it in lane, not just in fights.

Is Navori Flickerblade gold efficient?

Not on stats alone: 87%, meaning 2,300 gold of stats for 2,650 gold. Attack Speed is worth 1,000 gold at 25 gold per 1%, crit chance another 1,000 gold, and the 4% Move Speed adds 300 gold at the basic-item rate.

That leaves around 350 gold riding on the passive. For what it’s worth, that is a fair price if your kit has a short-cooldown ability you want to spam (an Ashe W, a Jhin Q, a Lucian E), and a poor one if your damage comes from the attacks themselves. Compare it with Phantom Dancer, which sits in the same slot and sells Attack Speed and movement with no cooldown angle at all.

Who should build it?

Crit marksmen whose abilities do real work: Ashe, Jhin, Lucian, Sivir, sometimes Xayah. The item is also popular on a handful of melee champions who crit and spam one ability, Yasuo and Yone in particular, since their Q resets faster with each attack.

Thing is, it has no Attack Damage. Zero. So a build that starts with this item hits like a wet towel until the second item arrives, and most players take it second or third after a damage item like Infinity Edge. Tanks and mages? No reason to look at it, the crit chance is wasted on them.

What does the Navori Flickerblade build path look like?

The recipe is Zeal (1,200 gold) plus a pair of Daggers at 250 gold apiece, with a 950 gold combine on top. Zeal is the natural first buy on the way there because it already carries crit chance, Attack Speed and a little Move Speed, the same three stats the finished item has. It builds into nothing further.

How has Navori Flickerblade changed over the patches?

It is really two different items wearing the same slot. From patch 10.23 until early 2024 it was Navori Quickblades, a 3,300 gold item with Attack Damage and Ability Haste. Then came the rework:

  • Patch 14.10: renamed to Navori Flickerblade, cost 3,300 → 2,600, Attack Damage and Ability Haste removed, 40% Attack Speed and 7% Move Speed added, crit chance 20% → 25%.
  • Patch 14.15: effect text changed.
  • Patch 14.19: cost 2,600 → 2,650, Move Speed 7% → 4%.

Long story short, Riot turned a damage item with a cooldown gimmick into a cheap utility item where the cooldown part is the whole point. The table above lists every change back to 10.23 (there are more than a dozen), and the LoL items database shows how the other crit items moved in the same patches.

When is it the right buy?

When you can name the ability you want back sooner and you already own a crit item with Attack Damage. If the answer is a slow, or a dash, or a poke spell you cast between every two attacks, Navori Flickerblade pays for itself quickly. If you cannot name one, buy damage instead.
