Nilah ARAM Build and Guide
Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.
A Nilah ARAM build is a Critical Strike build with Life Steal and a defensive item, made for a melee marksman who has to walk into five people. The Howling Abyss trims her slightly: Nilah deals 97% damage in ARAM, and nothing else changes. Her passive, which boosts the healing and shielding allies give her, finds plenty of use on a map where everybody fights together.
Our item picks come from her patch 26.21 ability text and today’s shop. Nobody checked a win-rate chart.

How is Nilah changed in ARAM?
| ARAM modifier | Nilah |
|---|---|
| Damage dealt | 97% |
A tiny nerf. Her damage drops by 3% (small enough to forget about mid-fight), and the damage she takes is unchanged. Will you notice it? Barely. What you will notice is the map: there’s no lane phase where she can farm safely with extra experience from Joy Unending, because the enemy team is standing right there from minute one. Her strengths here are the teamfight tools, not the laning ones.
Why does Nilah fit the Howling Abyss?
Because her best abilities get better with more allies and more enemies nearby. Riot’s text for patch 26.21:
- Joy Unending (passive): extra experience from last-hitting minions, plus enhanced and shared healing and shielding from nearby allies.
- Formless Blade (Q): a straight-line strike with her whip-blade that briefly extends her attack range. Cooldown 4.
- Jubilant Veil (W): mist that grants Move Speed and dodges all incoming attacks, shared with any ally she touches. Cooldown 26/25/24/23/22.
- Slipstream (E): a dash to a target that damages enemies along the way.
- Apotheosis (R): a whirl of damage around her, then a pull that drags enemies closer. Cooldown 110/95/80.
Random teams usually include someone who heals or shields, and Joy Unending makes that support’s work stronger on Nilah and spreads it to the people near her. Jubilant Veil is the other big one. The mist passes to every ally she touches, so against a team of marksmen she can make her whole frontline dodge attacks for a few seconds. Then Apotheosis pulls the enemy into the middle of all that. Honestly, a good Nilah fight on the Abyss looks like a magic trick.
What should a Nilah ARAM build focus on?
Critical Strike for damage, Life Steal for sustain, and one defensive item because she plays at 225 range in a mode full of poke.
Bloodthirster comes first. It carries 80 Attack Damage and 15% Life Steal, and Ichorshield turns excess healing from Life Steal into a Shield. Why first? Because on a map with no recall, that Life Steal is the main reason she can keep fighting between relics. Look, a melee marksman without sustain is just a target here.
Infinity Edge follows (it’s the crit item, after all), bundling 75 Attack Damage, 25% Critical Strike Chance and 30% Critical Strike Damage. Simple. It’s the item that turns her attacks into the damage that justifies diving in.
Third, Navori Flickerblade. Transcendence reduces her basic ability cooldowns by 15% of their remaining time with each attack, and Jubilant Veil is the cooldown that benefits most, since it starts at 26 seconds. More Veil means more fights where the enemy marksmen whiff. It also brings 40% Attack Speed.
Fourth is a defensive pick. Immortal Shieldbow grants a Shield for 3 seconds when damage would take her below 30% Health, which catches the burst she eats after Slipstream. Guardian Angel is the alternative if the enemy team relies on one big combo: Rebirth puts her in Stasis and brings her back with half her base Health. Berserker’s Greaves cover the boots slot, adding 30% Attack Speed at 1,100 gold.
How do you play Nilah on the Howling Abyss?
- Stay close to your healer. Joy Unending enhances and shares the healing and shielding nearby allies give.
- Pop Jubilant Veil when the enemy marksmen start shooting, and brush past your frontline so they dodge too.
- Use Slipstream as an engage only after the first enemy cooldowns are spent. She has 225 range; diving into full crowd control ends badly.
- Line up Formless Blade through several enemies. It hits everyone in a straight line and extends her range for a moment.
- Save Apotheosis to pull enemies into your team, not away from it.
How do shopping without recall and Mark play out for Nilah?
There’s no going back. Buying only happens at the fountain, at the very start and after a death. That’s a big reason to rush Bloodthirster, because the only healing outside your own Life Steal comes from relics and from teammates (which Joy Unending conveniently amplifies). Spend gold the moment you respawn.
Mark, ARAM’s snowball, lets you dash to any champion it hits. Summoner spells are locked in before loading and can’t be swapped mid-match. On a melee marksman, the snowball is a second gap closer next to Slipstream: hit the enemy carry, dash, then Slipstream to stay on them if they try to run. In practice, most Nilah players pair it with a defensive spell rather than giving up both escapes, and to be fair, that’s usually the safer call.
Is Nilah good in ARAM?
She’s decent, and better with an enchanter on her team. The 97% damage dealt modifier is a minor trim, while Joy Unending, a shared Jubilant Veil and a pulling ultimate all scale with crowds. The weak spot is the walk in. A 225 range champion has to cross the lane while the enemy pokes, and if she arrives at half Health the fight is already lost.
The bot laners who keep her at a distance are in our rundown of Nilah’s counters. For how the marksman role normally works, see our League roles explainer. The item stats database lists everything mentioned above, and her cosmetics are on the Nilah skins page.
So the Nilah ARAM build reads Bloodthirster, Infinity Edge, Navori Flickerblade and Immortal Shieldbow on Berserker’s Greaves, played next to your healer with the Veil saved for the enemy marksman’s turn.

How was this build put together?
