Yone ARAM Build and Guide

Updated for patch 26.20. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.

A Yone ARAM build starts from a buff. In ARAM, Yone deals 105% damage, takes 97% damage and gets 2.5% more attack speed. The Howling Abyss also suits his kit, because a single lane keeps enemies grouped for Fate Sealed, which hits everyone in a line.

Item suggestions here are editorial and based on what each item does in the current patch. We don’t use win-rate data.

Yone ARAM build: Yone, the Unforgotten, splash art

How is Yone changed in ARAM?

ARAM modifier Yone
Damage dealt 105%
Damage taken 97%
Attack speed 102.5%

All three numbers favor him. He hits harder, takes less, and the bonus attack speed feeds his passive: every second auto already deals magic damage.

Why does Yone fit the Howling Abyss?

  • Way of the Hunter: every second attack deals magic damage, so mixed defense from enemies is harder to build in a mode where you buy only on respawn.
  • Mortal Steel: the third Q dashes and knocks up, and grouped enemies make it easy to hit several at once.
  • Spirit Cleave: the shield grows with every champion hit, which in ARAM is often all five.
  • Soul Unbound: lets him dive and return to his body, a safety net in a lane with no side paths.
  • Fate Sealed: hits every enemy in a line and pulls them together.

What should a Yone ARAM build focus on?

Crit is his core, because his passive increases critical strike chance. Infinity Edge gives 75 Attack Damage, 25% crit chance and 30% crit damage, and gets better with every other crit item. Navori Flickerblade (40% Attack Speed, 25% crit) makes his attacks reduce the remaining cooldowns of his basic abilities by 15%, so Q and W come back faster. Berserker’s Greaves add 30% Attack Speed and 45 Move Speed.

In practice, you also want a defensive item because ARAM never gives you a break between fights. Death’s Dance spreads part of the damage you take over 3 seconds and adds 50 Armor, which keeps you alive long enough to snap back with E.

How do you play Yone on the Howling Abyss?

  • Stack Q on the wave. Minions are always in front of you, so arrive at a fight with the knock-up ready.
  • Ult through the group. Fate Sealed hits everyone in a line, and the narrow lane lines them up for you.
  • Use E as an exit. Dive with Soul Unbound and let it snap you back before the enemy turns on you.
  • Shop on respawn. You can’t recall to buy, so plan the next item before you die.

How do shopping and Mark change the plan?

ARAM has two rules you need to plan around. You can’t recall to buy items, so you shop at the fountain at the start and each time you respawn (plan the next item before you die, not after). Health relics on the map are your only other sustain. And the mode’s summoner spell, Mark, throws a snowball that lets you dash to the target it hits.

For Yone, Mark is a second way in: a snowball that lands lets him close the gap first, so the knock-up from his third Q starts the fight instead of his dash. You pick it before the game loads, and it stays fixed for the whole match. Get this pick right, it decides how your first fight plays out.

What do those numbers mean in a fight?

How big is a 5% damage buff, really? Picture a full Yone combo that deals 1,000 damage on Summoner’s Rift. In ARAM the same combo deals 1,050. Flip it: a burst of 1,000 damage aimed at him only lands as 970 (the 97% damage taken). Doesn’t sound like much on paper, but ARAM is one long fight and it adds up.

Don’t sleep on the 2.5% attack speed: his passive converts every second auto to magic damage, so faster attacks mean more magic hits. That’s why stacking armor into Yone never feels like enough.

Which enemies make his ARAM games hard? Teams with lots of crowd control that can catch him after he commits with Soul Unbound, and champions who stop dashes, like Poppy, whose W ends his third Q mid-air. The full reasoning lives on our counters page.

Is Yone good in ARAM?

Yes. Yone gets solid modifiers and the single lane funnels everyone into his ult. The catch is his range: he is still a melee champion in a mode full of poke, so taking the health relics on the way into a fight matters. If you want to see who gives him trouble on Summoner’s Rift, read our Yone counters guide. His skins are on the Yone skins page, and every item here has stats and history in our LoL items database.

Put simply, a good Yone ARAM game means stacking Q on the wave before every fight and holding Fate Sealed until the enemy team lines up.
