Trundle ARAM Build and Guide

Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.

The Trundle ARAM build is a sustain fighter build. Trinity Force, Blade of the Ruined King, Spirit Visage and Sterak’s Gage. In ARAM, Trundle takes 105% damage and his healing stays at 100%, so he’s slightly squishier than on the Rift but heals exactly as well.

We chose these items from what they do this patch and how they fit his kit. No win rates or popularity numbers behind them.

How is Trundle changed in ARAM?

Balance stat Trundle on the Abyss
Damage taken 105%
Healing 100%

One nerf, one non-change. Every hit on Trundle lands 5% harder than it would on Summoner’s Rift, so a 1,000-damage burst becomes 1,050. His healing is listed at 100%, which means the mode doesn’t touch it. For a champion whose passive is a heal, that matters more than it looks. Trundle keeps all of it.

Why does Trundle’s kit work in one lane?

Because ARAM is a nonstop pile of dying minions and champions, and his passive feeds on exactly that. Here’s the kit in Riot’s words for patch 26.21:

  • King’s Tribute (passive): when an enemy unit dies near Trundle, he heals for a percent of its maximum Health.
  • Chomp (Q): bites the target for damage, slows briefly and saps some of their Attack Damage, on a 3.5 second cooldown.
  • Frozen Domain (W) turns an area into his ground. Standing on it, he gets Attack Speed, Move Speed and increased healing from all sources.
  • Pillar of Ice (E): impassable terrain that slows nearby enemies. Cooldown 21 seconds at rank 1, 15 at rank 5.
  • Subjugate (R): steals a percent of one target’s Health, Armor and Magic Resist, doubling over 4 seconds.

Put the domain under a fight in a single lane and King’s Tribute heals him off every minion and every champion that drops beside him, boosted by the domain itself. The weak part? In practice, he’s melee with 175 range and no dash. On a map where the enemy team is all standing in one place, the pillar is how he gets there, and if it misses he has to walk.

What should a Trundle ARAM build focus on?

Attack Damage with Health, and items whose healing or shields benefit from Frozen Domain. Four items cover it.

Trinity Force goes first. It gives 36 Attack Damage, 30% Attack Speed, 333 Health and 15 Ability Haste, and Spellblade adds bonus physical damage to the next attack after an ability. Chomp is up every 3.5 seconds, so Spellblade comes up constantly, and Quicken’s 20 Move Speed on attack helps a champion who can’t dash.

Next, Blade of the Ruined King: 40 Attack Damage, 25% Attack Speed and 10% Life Steal. Mist’s Edge deals a percentage of the enemy’s current Health as bonus physical damage, which is the right answer for a fight against a tank who hasn’t been worn down yet. The Life Steal is healing too, so Frozen Domain boosts it.

Look, Spirit Visage is the sneaky one. 400 Health, 50 Magic Resist, 10 Ability Haste, and Boundless Vitality increases heals and shields on you by 25%. Stack that with King’s Tribute, Life Steal and the domain’s own healing bonus. Honestly, it’s the item that makes the whole build click.

Finish with Sterak’s Gage (400 Health, 20% Tenacity). Its Lifeline passive grants a decaying shield when damage would drop you below 30% Health, and Spirit Visage makes that shield bigger. The Tenacity matters more than usual here (five enemies, one lane, plenty of slows and stuns).

How do you play Trundle on the Howling Abyss?

  • Drop the domain before the fight, not during it. You want the Attack Speed and healing bonus already active when the first minion dies.
  • Pillar the enemy carry, not the tank. The slow and the terrain cut them off from their team.
  • Save Subjugate for the biggest Health bar. It steals a percent of Health, Armor and Magic Resist, so a tank gives you the most.
  • Chomp everyone. The cooldown is short, the AD sap helps your whole team, and every bite procs Spellblade.
  • Stay near dying minions between fights; each one is a free heal from King’s Tribute.

How do shopping and Mark affect a Trundle game?

There’s no recall in ARAM. You buy at the fountain at the start and when you respawn, and because nobody walks back to base to heal, the health relics on the lane are your other way to recover. Trundle needs that less than most (his passive does the job while he’s fighting), but grab relics anyway when the lane is quiet, since they’re free healing and the domain doesn’t care where it comes from.

Mark is the mode’s summoner spell, and for him it’s the gap closer his kit doesn’t have. Throw the snowball, land it, then dash to the target. Spells are locked in before the game loads, so you can’t change your mind halfway through. A snowball onto their mage, a pillar behind them, then Subjugate? That’s most of a fight decided before their tank turns around (to be fair, that’s the plan, not a promise).

Is Trundle good in ARAM?

He’s solid. The 105% damage taken is a small nerf, and his 100% healing means the mode leaves his sustain alone. His kit wants exactly what ARAM gives: long fights, lots of units dying nearby and a crowd to drop a pillar into.

The catch is getting kited. Ranged champions who keep moving and Grievous Wounds on the enemy team take away the two things he relies on, and the Summoner’s Rift side of that is covered in our Trundle counters guide. If you’re not sure where he usually plays outside ARAM, the guide to LoL roles explains top lane and jungle. His skins are on the Trundle skins page.

In short, a good Trundle ARAM game is simple to describe. Plant the domain, bite everything, steal the tank’s stats, and let the dead minions do the healing.

FAQ

Is he nerfed on the Howling Abyss?

Slightly. The League of Legends Wiki’s champion data lists him at 105% damage taken in ARAM, with healing unchanged at 100%.

What is the best Trundle ARAM build?

Why build Spirit Visage on Trundle?

Its Boundless Vitality passive increases heals and shields on you by 25%, which stacks with his passive healing, Life Steal and the healing bonus from Frozen Domain.

Does the mode reduce his healing?

No. His ARAM healing modifier is 100%, which means no change from Summoner’s Rift.

Is this build based on win rates?

No. We chose each item from its effects in patch 26.21 and how it fits his abilities. We don’t use win-rate data.
