Gold efficiency
| Stat | Amount | Gold per point | Gold value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Health | 200 | 2.67 g | 533 g |
| Ability Haste | 10 | 50 g | 500 g |
| Total stat value | 1033 g |
Gold efficiency = stat value ÷ item cost = 1033 ÷ 800 = 129%. The gold per point comes from basic items of the same patch (for example, Long Sword: 35 g per Attack Damage). Passives and actives are not counted.

Kindlegem is the Health and Ability Haste component in League of Legends: 200 Health and 10 Ability Haste for 800 gold in patch 26.21, no passive. It is a Ruby Crystal and a Glowing Mote with a 150 gold combine fee, it builds into seventeen finished items from Spirit Visage to Cosmic Drive, and at 129% gold efficiency it is one of the best-value components in the shop.
What does Kindlegem do?
200 Health and 10 Ability Haste, nothing more. The Health keeps you alive through the mid game and the Haste brings every spell back a little sooner, and the two together are what nearly every tank, support and bruiser wants on a second recall.
What makes it special is not the stats but how many places they lead. Thing is, almost every class has a finished item that starts with a Kindlegem: supports through Locket, Knight’s Vow, Moonstone and Mikael’s, tanks through Spirit Visage, Abyssal Mask and Unending Despair, fighters through Black Cleaver, and mages through Cosmic Drive, Morellonomicon and Hextech Rocketbelt. So a Kindlegem bought at ten minutes commits you to almost nothing. Can you name another 800 gold item that feeds seventeen builds? There is not one.
Is Kindlegem gold efficient?
Very: 129%. The Health is worth 533 gold at 2.67 gold per point and the Haste 500 gold at 50 gold per point, which is 1,033 gold of stats on a 800 gold item.
The surplus comes from the Health being priced cheaply in the reference table and the combine fee being tiny: 150 gold on top of components that already cost 650. Put simply, Riot charges almost nothing for the convenience of the slot, which is why a Kindlegem is a better hold than the Ruby Crystal and Mote separately in every situation (a loose Mote is the most forgettable item in the game). The sell price is 560 gold.
What does Kindlegem build into?
Seventeen items, across four classes:
- Support items: Locket of the Iron Solari, Knight’s Vow, Zeke’s Convergence, Moonstone Renewer, Echoes of Helia, Mikael’s Blessing, Bandlepipes and Dusk and Dawn.
- Tank items: Spirit Visage, Abyssal Mask, Unending Despair, Winter’s Approach and Protoplasm Harness.
- Fighter: Black Cleaver.
- Mage items: Cosmic Drive, Morellonomicon and Hextech Rocketbelt.
So the component is a wait-and-see purchase for the whole roster, and honestly that is how high-ranked players use it: buy the Kindlegem, watch the next two fights, then pick the finished item the game is asking for. Prices for all seventeen are in the LoL items database.
Who buys it?
Supports more than anyone, since five of their standard items begin with it, and usually on the second recall after their support quest item and boots. Tanks take it on the way to Spirit Visage or Abyssal Mask when the enemy has magic damage, fighters toward Black Cleaver, and mages toward Cosmic Drive when they want Health and Haste rather than raw power. Who skips it? Marksmen, nearly always, and Lethality assassins, since none of their items touch it.
Which half to buy first is a real question on a tight recall. The Ruby Crystal if you are taking damage, the Glowing Mote if you are not, and in practice the Crystal wins that argument far more often.
How has Kindlegem changed over the patches?
Barely. The item is in Riot’s data from 2013 or earlier, and the full record is three price moves and nothing else:
- Patch 3.13: Cost 850 → 950 gold.
- Patch 3.14: Cost 950 → 850 gold, one patch later.
- Patch 5.22: Cost 850 → 800 gold.
For what it’s worth, that makes it one of the most stable components in the game: the same two stats for over a decade, through two full item overhauls (patches 10.23 and 14.1) that rewrote most of the shop around it. Funny enough, the item has survived mostly by being boring, which for a component is the highest compliment.
When should you buy it?
On the second recall for supports and tanks, or whenever you have 800 gold and have not yet decided which finished item the game needs. It is also the right filler when you are 400 gold short of a bigger purchase and would otherwise recall with nothing, since every Kindlegem turns into something eventually. If you are still working out which of the seventeen paths your champion takes, the guide to LoL roles explains what supports, tanks and mages build around, and Kindlegem shows up early in all three of those sections.
