Moonstone Renewer is a 2,200 gold enchanter item in League of Legends with 25 Ability Power, 200 Health, 20 Ability Haste and 125% Base Mana Regen in patch 26.21. Its Starlit Grace passive copies your heals and shields onto a second ally, at 30% of the heal or 35% of the shield.

How does Starlit Grace work?

It turns one heal into two. Whenever you heal or shield an ally, the effect chains to another ally nearby, who gets 30% of the healing or 35% of the shield. You can’t be the second target yourself; it always jumps to a teammate (heals you cast on yourself don’t trigger it at all). Neat.

So the item scales with how often you heal or shield. A support who drops a shield every few seconds in a team fight effectively protects two people each time, while one big heal on a long cooldown gets the bonus far less often. Bigger heals and shields chain bigger amounts too, since the copy is a share of the original.

Shields copy at a higher share. Heals, slightly lower.

Funny enough, that makes it a touch better on shield supports than on pure healers, at least on paper.

Is Moonstone Renewer gold efficient?

Yes. At 115%, the stats alone are worth 2,533 gold against a 2,200 gold price.

Haste is the biggest piece. 20 Ability Haste counts for 1,000 gold at 50 per point. Then 200 Health adds 533 gold, 25 Ability Power 500 and the mana regen 500. Honestly, for a support item that’s a lot of value, and the Health makes it one of the sturdier enchanter picks (handy when the enemy jungler comes for you first).

Who should build it?

Enchanter supports who heal or shield often, especially in teams that group up for fights. The passive needs a second ally close by, so it does the most in five-versus-five fights around objectives and the least in a two-versus-two lane where your partner is the only one near you.

How does it compare with the other enchanter items? Staff of Flowing Water boosts the damage of whoever you shield, Ardent Censer helps auto attackers, and Redemption adds a big area heal. In practice, Moonstone is the pick when your team fights together and you need more total healing rather than more damage.

What does it build from?

Kindlegem (800 gold) and Bandleglass Mirror (900 gold), plus 500 gold to finish it. Kindlegem gives the Health with some haste; Bandleglass Mirror brings Ability Power, haste and mana regen. Which comes first? Mirror if you’re running out of mana in lane, Kindlegem if the enemy lane keeps bursting you. Nothing builds out of the finished item.

How has Moonstone Renewer changed?

Riot’s data has it from patch 10.23 (back then it was a mythic item). Recent changes mostly shaved Ability Power while moving the price down:

  • Patch 13.10: cost 2,500 → 2,300 gold, Ability Power 40 → 35, effect text changed.
  • Patch 14.1: price down again, 2,300 → 2,200 gold; Ability Power 35 → 30, Health 200 → 250, Base Mana Regen 100% → 125%.
  • Patch 14.19: Ability Power 30 → 25, Health 250 → 200.

Since 2023 it has lost Ability Power in every one of those patches, so it’s now about healing output, not damage. Every row is in the table above, and the LoL items database tracks other enchanter items too.

When should you buy it?

When you play an enchanter and your team groups for dragons, barons and team fights. To be fair, it’s rarely wrong on a healing or shielding support, but it’s best once the game moves past laning. Our guide to LoL roles covers what supports do; for enchanters, Moonstone Renewer is a common first item.
