Bard ARAM Build and Guide
Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.
A Bard ARAM build is a utility build: Imperial Mandate for the stun, Moonstone Renewer and Redemption to stretch his healing, and Shurelya’s Battlesong to move the team. The Howling Abyss is kind to him, with 115% damage dealt, 85% damage taken and 120% healing.
We ranked the items by matching their text against his patch 26.21 kit. Win-rate tables weren’t consulted.

Is Bard buffed or nerfed in ARAM?
| ARAM modifier | Bard |
|---|---|
| Damage dealt | 115% |
| Damage taken | 85% |
| Healing | 120% |
Buffed, on all three lines. He deals 115% damage, takes 85%, and his healing runs at 120%, which lands squarely on Caretaker’s Shrine. Few supports get a package this generous (honestly, it reads like Riot wanted more people to pick him up off the reroll bench). The healing line is the one to build around. Every shrine he drops heals for more than it would on the Rift, and items that add to healing stack on top of that.
What does Bard’s kit do on one lane?
Riot’s patch 26.21 data on his abilities:
- Traveler’s Call (passive): meeps add magic damage to his attacks and, with enough Chimes, splash and slow; Chimes give experience, Mana and out of combat Move Speed.
- Cosmic Binding (Q): slows the first enemy hit, then stuns it if the missile hits a wall, or stuns both targets if it hits a second enemy. Cooldown 11/10/9/8/7.
- Caretaker’s Shrine (W): a shrine that powers up over time and heals and speeds up the first ally who touches it.
- Portal (E): opens a one-way passage through nearby terrain for anyone, allied or enemy. Cooldown 22/20.5/19/17.5/16.
- Tempered Fate (R): puts every champion, minion, monster and turret hit into stasis for a short time. Cooldown 110/95/80.
Thing is, the lane does half his work. Cosmic Binding stuns two targets if it hits a second enemy, and the Howling Abyss crams ten champions into a strip barely wider than a Rift lane, so double stuns that need luck in a bot lane happen on purpose here. Walls line both sides too, funny enough the one detail Bard players love most. Chimes still spawn, which means his meeps power up over the match without the long roams the Rift asks for. Is there a catch? Shrines heal only the first ally who touches them, so dropping one in the middle of a brawl usually feeds whoever walks over it first, not whoever needs it.
Which items work best in a Bard ARAM build?
Haste for his stun, then items that copy his healing onto more allies. Four items and boots.
Imperial Mandate first. Control gives 20 Ability Haste to abilities with Immobilizing effects, so Cosmic Binding comes back faster, and Command marks an Immobilized enemy champion as 7% Vulnerable for 4 seconds. A double stun means two marked targets for the team to focus. The item also brings 60 Ability Power and 15 Ability Haste.
Moonstone Renewer second. Starlit Grace chains a heal on an ally to another ally (not Bard himself) for 30% of the original amount. Shrine heals already run at 120% in this mode, and Renewer hands a slice of every shrine to a second teammate. The 200 Health doesn’t hurt either.
Redemption third. Intervention restores Health to allies after a short delay and deals 10% max Health true damage to enemy champions in the same circle, which on the Abyss usually means several of them. That active ignores Armor and Magic Resist completely. It adds 10% Heal and Shield Power on top.
Shurelya’s Battlesong last. Inspiring Speech grants nearby allies 30% Move Speed for 4 seconds, and a team that arrives together with Cosmic Binding already in the air wins most fights. Ionian Boots of Lucidity round it out with 10 Ability Haste and summoner spell haste.
How do you play Bard on the Howling Abyss?
- Aim Cosmic Binding at pairs. If the missile hits a second enemy after the first, both are stunned.
- Use the walls. A single target standing next to terrain gets stunned too.
- Place shrines behind your team. Only the first ally to touch one is healed, so keep them away from the brawl.
- Tempered Fate is a reset button. Freeze the enemy front line while your carries walk back, or freeze an ally about to die.
- Grab Chimes between fights. Meep splash and slow come from collecting enough of them.
How do fountain shopping and Mark work for Bard?
There’s no recall. You buy at the fountain at the start and after each death, so Imperial Mandate should be finished on your first trips, because its haste only matters once Cosmic Binding is part of every fight. Health relics heal whoever grabs them; Bard, with his own shrines, can leave them for the frontline (sure, unless he’s the one at low Health).
Spells are locked when the game loads. Mark throws a snowball that lets him dash to whoever it hits, and Bard has no dash of his own, so in practice it doubles as an escape toward a target on the edge of a fight or an engage for Tempered Fate. Flash is the safer partner. Which one fits? Whichever your team lacks, since you can’t swap later.
Is Bard good in ARAM?
Yes, and the numbers say why. Damage dealt at 115%, damage taken at 85% and healing at 120% make him sturdier and more useful than his Rift version, and one lane between two walls makes Cosmic Binding far easier to land. The weakness? Engage supports who catch him before the stun goes out.
Look up who punishes him in our Bard counters guide. The League roles explained page covers what a support does in a team, the item database has every item above in full, and his skins are on the Bard skins page.
Bottom line: the Bard ARAM build is Imperial Mandate, Moonstone Renewer, Redemption and Shurelya’s Battlesong with Ionian Boots of Lucidity, and the job is stunning pairs against the walls while your shrines keep the team topped up.
FAQ
Is Bard strong in ARAM?
Yes. He deals 115% damage, takes 85%, and heals at 120% (Wiki data, patch 26.21).
What is the best Bard ARAM build?
Imperial Mandate, Moonstone Renewer, Redemption and Shurelya’s Battlesong, with Ionian Boots of Lucidity.
Why build Imperial Mandate on Bard?
Control gives haste to abilities that Immobilize, which includes Cosmic Binding’s stun, and Command makes stunned champions Vulnerable.
Does the ARAM healing buff affect Caretaker’s Shrine?
Yes. Bard’s healing modifier is 120%, so shrines heal for more than on Summoner’s Rift.
How was this Bard build chosen?
From his patch 26.21 kit and the item text: a stun on a narrow lane wants haste, and a healing buff wants items that spread healing. No win-rate data was used.
