Star Guardian Senna

First game I played with Star Guardian Senna was around 3 AM on a Thursday, right after the skin dropped in July 2023. Locked it in immediately for a ranked game and honestly the splash alone sold me before I even loaded in. Senna already has this serious, heavy energy to her kit and seeing her in the Star Guardian universe felt like a risk Riot took that actually paid off. Not gonna lie, I wasnt expecting to like it as much as I do.

How Star Guardian changes Senna’s kit

The VFX overhaul is where this Epic skin earns its keep. Q healing beam gets this bright pink-to-gold particle trail that reads clean in teamfights. Huge deal for a champ who needs to land Q through minion waves in lane. The auto attacks have that sparkle effect you expect from Star Guardian but they kept it subtle enough that it doesnt clutter your screen during extended trades.

W wraith trail picks up the cosmic star theme. Solid change. E camouflage zone shifts to this deep purple shroud with starlight flickers around the edges, and I think it actually looks better than some of her Legendary skin effects for that ability specifically. Been running this in Diamond support games all season and the E particles get compliments from duo partners pretty regularly.

R is the highlight. Dawning Shadow fires off with a massive star beam that cuts across the Rift. The width indicator has these constellation patterns in it. Could be wrong here but I feel like the hitbox even looks slightly different visually, though obviously it’s the same mechanically. The recall animation is new too, Senna interacts with her familiar in this little star portal sequence. Clean stuff.

Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Standard for a 1350 RP tier skin. Not a dealbreaker when the visual package is this tight.

Star Guardian Season 4 and the details

Star Guardian Senna released July 20, 2023. Part of the Star Guardian Season 4 lineup which was stacked that year. Mingchen Shen and West Studio handled the artwork, and they cooked on this one. The splash captures Senna mid-ult with her familiar floating behind her, stars everywhere. (Random aside: this splash is my phone lockscreen and has been since release.)

The Star Guardian line is probably Riot’s most popular skinline overall. Season 4 brought in some unexpected picks and Senna fit the theme better than most people predicted. She reads as the veteran guardian, the serious one in the squad. Fits her lore energy perfectly.

8 chromas total. Obsidian is the standout for me, takes the whole skin dark and moody which contrasts hard against the sparkly VFX. Tanzanite hits this deep purple that feels like it belongs in a different skinline entirely, almost Dark Star vibes. Rainbow is the fun pick if you want maximum color on screen. Rest are fine but those three get the most use in my rotation. Shop has it, permanent availability, so no rush on grabbing it.

Should you buy Star Guardian Senna?

Real verdict: 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX package punches above its weight class for an Epic skin. Played maybe 200 games with this across ranked and normals and it hasn’t gotten stale. If you main Senna or even play her as a pocket pick in bot lane, this is top three in her skin catalog easy.

The competition is stiff though. High Noon Senna exists. Prestige Lunar Eclipse exists. But Star Guardian offers something none of those do, a lighter aesthetic that still feels powerful. Kinda feels like Riot understood Senna mains want variety in tone, not just dark brooding themes over and over. Last week in a game where my jungler was hard inting on Kayn, the Star Guardian aesthetic was genuinely the only thing keeping my mental together. Small victories.

Skip it if you already own three Senna skins and dont play her often. But for one-tricks and Senna mains climbing through ranked? S-tier Senna cosmetic. The Q and R particles alone justify the price, and the chromas give you enough variety to keep it fresh for seasons.
