Prestige Requiem Sona

Not gonna lie, when I first saw Prestige Requiem Sona pop up in the Mythic shop rotation I had to double-take. Sona already has a stacked skin catalog and I wasnt sure another Prestige variant would hit different from the rest. Played about 40 games with it in Diamond over the past two weeks. Here’s where I landed.

How Prestige Requiem Sona actually looks in game

The gold and white color scheme does its job. Clean. Sona’s etwahl gets that signature Prestige shimmer treatment, and the particle work on her Q poke in lane reads well against the Rift’s darker textures. Not a massive overhaul from the base Requiem version but the palette shift gives it a distinct identity.

Her W heal aura picks up a warm golden glow. Subtle change but in teamfights where you’re peeling for your ADC it actually helps visually track the radius. Could be wrong here but I think the E movement speed trail looks slightly different too, more of a sparkle effect than the standard Requiem particles. Hard to confirm without side-by-side footage though.

Voice lines stay base. No VO refresh on this one. Standard for a Prestige skin, nobody expected new voice work. The recall animation keeps the Requiem recall, just recolored to match the Prestige palette. (Random aside: the gold etwahl during recall is genuinely my favorite part of the whole skin.)

R is where it matters most on Sona and the Crescendo visual pops in the gold colorway. Last Tuesday around 2 AM I hit a 4-man ult in a ranked game near dragon pit and my duo immediately asked what skin I was running. The ult VFX just read cleaner in gold for some reason. Might be overthinking it but the contrast against darker team comps feels sharper than base Requiem.

Chronicle line and the Prestige treatment

Prestige Requiem Sona sits in the Chronicle skinline. The Chronicle series has this orchestral fantasy aesthetic that fits Sona naturally. She’s a musician champion, the theme writes itself. Riot didnt have to stretch the concept at all.

This is a Mythic tier skin. No RP price tag, you’re spending Mythic Essence to pick it up. Available now in the Mythic shop rotation. Whether that’s a good spend depends entirely on how deep your Sona pool goes.

There’s 1 chroma available, the Vivid variant. It pushes the palette into a coral-red direction with silver accents. Honestly I think the base Prestige gold looks better for most games but the Vivid chroma has a bolder energy if you want to stand out in champ select. Been running the base version more in my Diamond games this season though.

Where this sits in Sona’s skin lineup

Sona mains are spoiled. DJ Sona exists. Odyssey Sona exists. Star Guardian, PsyOps, the whole Pentakill trilogy. Real talk though, Prestige Requiem Sona fills a specific niche: if you want something elegant without the over-the-top production of DJ or the edgy vibe of PsyOps, this lands right in the middle.

My Sona one-trick friend in Diamond has been daily driving this since it dropped and swears the gold particles feel smoother to play with. Placebo? Probably. But comfort matters when you’re spamming ranked and trying to climb. The skin you feel good in is the skin you play better in. Simple as that.

Compared to Prestige Immortal Journey Sona, I think Chronicle’s direction suits the champion better. The orchestral theme matches her kit identity. Immortal Journey leans more into the Eastern fantasy space which is fine but feels less natural on Sona specifically.

One thing worth calling out: the splash art is solid work. No credited artist in the data I’ve seen, but whoever handled it captured the regal energy well. The composition puts the etwahl front and center which is the right call for a Sona piece.

Should you spend Mythic Essence on this?

Verdict time. If you main Sona and you’ve been sitting on Mythic Essence waiting for something worth spending it on, this is a strong pickup. Not the absolute best Sona skin, DJ still holds that crown for sheer content value, but Prestige Requiem Sona is arguably the cleanest looking option in her catalog.

Skip it if you only play Sona as a pocket pick in comp. The Mythic Essence is better saved for a champion you actually lock in every other game. But for Sona mains who want that premium feel without the sensory overload of Ultimate tier? Top pick. S-tier cosmetic for the champion.

Been playing maybe 15 ranked games with it this week alone and I keep coming back to it over Star Guardian and Odyssey. The gold just works on Sona. Three things stood out: ult VFX clarity, the recall animation, and how the Q poke particles look in lane phase pre-6. Fair price for the package if you’ve got the Essence to spare.
