High Noon Darius

First time I saw High Noon Darius load in, I thought Riot finally figured out what Darius players actually want. Not some futuristic mech suit, not a lunar festival outfit. A dude in a duster with a massive demonic axe. Took this into ranked the same week it dropped back in October 2019 and honestly wasnt disappointed. The whole vibe just works for a champion whose entire kit revolves around running people down in lane and dunking them into the ground.

What High Noon Darius actually brings to the table

New VFX across the board. Your Q has this dusty orange slash effect that reads really clean against the Rift, and the Hemorrhage stacks show up as these burning ember marks on enemies. Feels like branding cattle. Not gonna lie, the Noxian Guillotine looks sick here. The ult slam has a fiery explosion with dark energy that pops hard in teamfights, especially when you’re resetting through their backline.

New recall animation too. Darius plants his axe and tips his hat like some kind of infernal gunslinger waiting for high noon. Simple change – huge impact. It fits the fantasy perfectly.

Voice lines stay base, which is expected at 1350 RP. No VO refresh. But the sound design on abilities compensates. The Q wind-up has this heavy metallic ring to it, and landing the outer edge feels more satisfying than default. Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack sounds are slightly different too. Heavier. More weight behind each cs.

The model itself goes hard. Leather duster, burning eyes, the axe looks like something pulled straight out of a demon’s forge. Pre-6 you already look intimidating walking up for trades. Post-6 when you have five stacks on someone and you’re winding up the dunk? Chef’s kiss. Been running this in Diamond for multiple seasons now and I still get compliments in all chat sometimes.

High Noon skinline and release context

High Noon Darius released October 10, 2019. Late into season 9 if I remember right. Ayran Oberto and West Studio handled the splash, and they captured this demon-cowboy energy that Riot was pushing hard with the High Noon line at the time.

The High Noon skinline is one of Riot’s most consistent themes. You know what surprised me? How well Darius fits into it compared to some of the other picks. The whole “corrupted by dark magic in the Wild West” angle works naturally for a champion who stacks bleed and executes people. (Random aside: the splash art has been my desktop background since release and I still havent changed it.)

7 chromas available. Obsidian is my go-to, the dark tones make the fire effects contrast harder and it reads menacingly in lane. Tanzanite switches to purple which gives off more of a void-touched outlaw vibe. Nomad is interesting because it flips to this ice-blue and red combo that honestly looks like a completely different skin tier. The rest are solid but those three carry the chroma set for me.

Is High Noon Darius worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is arguably the best Darius skin if you want something that feels powerful without being over the top. Dunkmaster is meme-tier and fun but it doesnt hit the same in a serious ranked game. God-King is obviously more premium but that’s Legendary pricing. High Noon sits in this perfect spot where you get new VFX, a clean recall, and a model that actually matches the champion’s identity.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Shop has it permanently so no rush, but if you main Darius and you’re still on base skin or one of the older 975 options, this is the upgrade. Played maybe 200 games with this thing across season 10 through now and I keep coming back to it over newer releases. Kinda feels like Riot peaked early with this one for Darius. Last Tuesday I had a game where I got a quadra dunk at dragon pit and my Kayn jungle pinged the skin three times in chat after. That’s the energy.

Skip this only if you already own God-King and dont play enough Darius to justify two skins. For everyone else who plays top lane and wants to splitpush with style, lock it in.
