High Noon Katarina

First game I played with High Noon Katarina was a late night ranked session, maybe 1 AM on a Wednesday. Locked her in mid, loaded up, and the splash alone had me sold before minions spawned. Katarina in a duster coat with revolvers for daggers. Not gonna lie, the whole gunslinger fantasy fits her kit way better than it has any right to. The spinning blades become spinning cylinders and the Shunpo resets feel like quickdraw duels. Riot cooked with this one.

What High Noon Katarina actually brings to the table

This is a 1350 RP Epic skin so you’re getting new VFX and a new recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no VO refresh. The Q dagger throw has this orange-red trail with ember particles that pop against the Rift, especially on the darker side of the map. W spins out these revolver cylinders with gunsmoke, and the E Shunpo has a quick dust cloud on arrival. Clean teleport read.

Her ult is where it gets good though. Death Lotus becomes this whirlwind of bullets and fire. The sound design carries hard here. You hear the rapid gunfire layered under the blade sounds and it makes every teamfight channel feel more impactful. Been running this in Diamond for a few seasons now and I still notice the ult VFX every time. Thats how you know a skin did something right.

The recall has Katarina doing a coin flip with one of her blade-revolvers. Short, stylish, fits the theme. Nothing over the top but it works. (Random aside: the recall animation is smoother than half the Legendary recalls in the game, which is kinda wild for an Epic.)

High Noon line and the details behind the skin

High Noon Katarina dropped May 12, 2022. Season 12, right around MSI if I remember. Jiunn Kuo and West Studio handled the splash art, and they nailed the composition. Katarina standing in what looks like a burning saloon doorway, daggers drawn. The lighting is aggressive in a good way.

The High Noon skinline is one of Riot’s longest running themes. Katarina joins a massive roster there including Yasuo, Senna, Thresh, and a bunch of others. Could be wrong here but I think the 2022 batch was one of the stronger High Noon drops overall. The demon-western aesthetic suits assassins and Katarina specifically reads well in it.

9 chromas total for this skin. Obsidian is the standout for me, goes full dark gunslinger and the muted tones look cleaner than base in most lighting. Nomad has this cool ice-blue and red split that catches eyes in lane. Pearl is interesting too if you want something lighter, almost ghostly vibe to the whole outfit. Should you buy High Noon Katarina?

Real verdict: if you main Katarina or even just have her in your mid lane rotation, High Noon is a strong pickup. The VFX are distinct without being noisy. Some Katarina skins have particle effects that genuinely mess with your ability tracking in teamfights but High Noon keeps everything readable. I’ve played maybe 150 games with this skin since it dropped and the only time I swapped off was to test Battle Queen for a week before coming back.

For 1350 RP it delivers. Not the flashiest Katarina skin in the catalog, thats probably Battle Queen or the Faerie Court line, but High Noon has this consistency to it. Every ability looks intentional. The western theme carries through Q W E R without feeling forced. Might be overthinking it but I think the muted color palette actually helps with focus during those split-second Shunpo resets where you need to track daggers on the ground.

Worth 1350 if you main Katarina. If you’re picking up one skin for her and you like the aesthetic, this competes with anything in her lineup. Top pick for Katarina mains who want something that looks good without the visual clutter. Last season I saw maybe 4 or 5 other High Noon Katarinas in my games, so its not oversaturated either. Solid choice.
