Grungy Nunu & Willump

First time I saw Grungy Nunu & Willump loading in, I thought someone on the enemy team was trolling. Big green trash monster with a kid riding on top wearing what looks like a makeshift helmet out of a bucket. Took me a second to realize this was an actual skin and not some cursed custom mod. Honestly not gonna lie, it grew on me fast. There’s something about the gross charm that just works, especially when you’re tilting the enemy jungler by counter-ganking on a literal dumpster creature.

What Grungy Nunu & Willump actually looks like

So Willump gets the full Oscar the Grouch treatment here. Covered in grime, patches of mold or moss, random bits of garbage stuck to him. The texture work is solid for a 750 RP Standard skin. Nunu sits on top looking like a kid who raided a junkyard for his Halloween costume. Bucket helmet, torn clothes, the whole deal.

The VFX got some updates which is nice for a skin at this price point. Snowball rolling down lane with that grimy green tint on Q feels different enough from base to notice. Not a massive overhaul but you can tell Riot touched it up, probably during the Nunu & Willump rework back in patch 8.17. Voice lines stay base, no new recall animation either. For 750 RP thats about what you’d expect.

Been running this in Diamond for maybe 30 games last month and the model holds up surprisingly well on the Rift. The green coloring pops against river and jungle camps. Could be wrong here but I think the hitbox on W snowball feels visually cleaner with this skin too, something about the color contrast when you’re rolling through a teamfight.

The Toy Box line and where this skin fits

Grungy Nunu & Willump dropped August 10, 2010. Ancient by League standards. Viktor Titov and Grafit Studio handled the artwork, and honestly the splash captures the vibe perfectly. Kid on a trash monster. Simple concept, well executed.

Part of the Toy Box skinline which is one of those older thematic lines Riot doesn’t really revisit anymore. Kinda feels like a relic from early League when skins were more about fun concepts than elaborate fantasy. The Toy Box theme fits Nunu & Willump naturally though. Willump already looks like a stuffed animal gone wrong in his base skin, so leaning into the “gross toy from the back of the closet” angle makes sense.

Shop has it for 750 RP. Permanent availability, no vault nonsense. Zero chromas which is fine, I dont think this skin needs color variants. The whole point is that specific grimy green look. (Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I lock this in because he says the splash gives him the creeps.)

Should you buy it?

Real verdict: if you’re a Nunu & Willump main climbing through ranked, this is a fun budget option. 750 RP feels fair for what you get. Not gonna compete with Space Groove or Papercraft in terms of polish, but those cost nearly double or more.

Last Tuesday around 2 AM I was spamming jungle games and this skin just felt right for the late night grind energy. Something about playing a garbage monster while sleep deprived in solo queue at that hour. The skin reads well in lane ganks, the green Willump stands out when you roll out of fog, and the price point means you’re not overthinking the purchase.

Skip it if you want flashy particles or new voice lines. Worth 750 RP if you main Nunu & Willump and want something with personality over production value. Best Nunu & Willump skin for players who don’t take their cosmetics too seriously. I think it’s underrated in the Nunu & Willump catalog, been my go-to when I’m not feeling the fancier options. Standard pricing, above-average charm.
