Pirate scarecrow. That’s genuinely the entire concept, and it works. Fiddle Me Timbers drops Fiddlesticks into a full Bilgewater costume – tricorn hat, nautical color palette, the whole look – back when Bilgewater was still more of a visual shorthand than the event-heavy region it eventually became. First time I spotted one of these in ranked was season 3, late-night Diamond promos, and I had to look twice because the silhouette reads so differently from base. Still recognizably Fiddlesticks, still a threat clearing the jungle, just dressed like he looted a ghost ship before walking into your bot lane to proc the entire fear chain.
What actually changes in Fiddle Me Timbers
Standard tier, so calibrate expectations. Fiddle Me Timbers is a model and texture rework: new costume, tricorn hat, brown-and-gold color scheme. No new VFX, voice lines stay base, no new recall animation. What you’re paying 750 RP for is the visual theme – the character concept – and not much beyond that.
The model work holds up though. The hat doesn’t clip, the silhouette stays readable in teamfights, and in the jungle the character design makes the Crowstorm R feel different even though the VFX particles are identical to base. Might be overthinking it but a pirate scarecrow hitting you with that ult in a five-man comp is funnier and more thematic than base Fiddlesticks doing the same thing. Drain Q in lane, E fear animation – both unchanged. Honestly its fine for what it is. Standard 2010 skin, no SFX upgrades, model-only deal.
Bilgewater: Burning Tides roots and the 2010 release
Fiddle Me Timbers dropped April 26, 2010. Early era. Right when League was still figuring out what skins were supposed to be beyond palette swaps with a hat. The Bilgewater: Burning Tides skinline is the connection – back then Bilgewater was aesthetic shorthand for “pirates and rough seas” rather than the full narrative region with event missions and cinematics attached to it.
Jeremy ‘Jermu’ Anninos did the splash, and for a 2010 piece it aged well. Classic painterly approach, Fiddlesticks posed like an actual pirate scarecrow near the Bilgewater harbor, hat on, silhouette threatening. (Random aside: this splash is one of the few pieces from that era that doesn’t look embarrassingly dated on a modern monitor – whoever handled the composition knew what they were doing.) The Bilgewater: Burning Tides line has other entries now but Fiddle Me Timbers is one of the founding pieces of it.
No chromas ever added. Sits in the Legacy vault now – been there for years. Hextech crafting only if you’re hunting it post-2023.
Should you chase Fiddle Me Timbers?
Real verdict: depends entirely on how deep you are into Fiddlesticks. Been rolling chests occasionally hoping for this one mostly out of collection habit, and the pirate concept genuinely charmed me when I got it. At the original 750 RP it was fair for the era – reasonable Standard pricing, nothing exploitative. As a Legacy skin in the vault you’re rolling it from chests now, which changes the acquisition math entirely.
If you main Fiddlesticks, there are higher-value options: Risen Fiddlesticks and Praetorian Fiddlesticks both bring actual VFX upgrades worth the RP. Blood Moon Fiddlesticks has the dark horror tone locked down if that’s your lane. Fiddle Me Timbers is specifically for Fiddlesticks one-tricks who want the Bilgewater: Burning Tides set completed, collectors hunting early-era League cosmetics, or players who just think the pirate scarecrow concept is too good to pass on. Seen maybe three of these all season in my Diamond games – rare enough that enemies actually check the scoreboard when one shows up in champion select.
Skip it if you’re casually spamming Fiddlesticks and want the best visual upgrade per RP. If you roll it from a chest, keep it without hesitation – the skin is charming, the concept is cleanly executed for a Standard skin from 2010, and it’s rare enough to feel like a flex. Top pick for Fiddlesticks collectors; average pick for everyone else.
