First time I loaded into a game as Praetorian Fiddlesticks, my jungler typed “that model is terrifying” in all-chat after the loading screen. Hard to argue. Riot took an already nightmare-fuel champion and wrapped it in robotic Praetorian armor that somehow makes the scarecrow aesthetic more unsettling, not less. Fiddlesticks walking out of base in this skin is one of those moments where you sit back and think yeah, okay, they actually cooked here. Been daily driving it in ranked ever since the release patch without touching the base skin once.

What the Praetorian skin actually changes

This is an Epic at 1350 RP, so you get the full package: new model, new VFX, new VO, new recall. Praetorian Fiddlesticks delivers on all four. The model is dramatic – gone is the weathered burlap scarecrow, replaced with a mechanical chassis that looks like something out of a robot apocalypse film. Angular joints, cold industrial weight to the frame, and every idle animation has this subtle clicking quality that feels right for the Praetorian theme.

VFX on Q (Terrify) lands with a mechanical pulse, like an EMP disrupting the target rather than pure magical fear. The W drain replaces the life-leech visual with something that looks like pulling data through cables. Subtle change – big difference in feel. Crowstorm, the ult, is where Praetorian Fiddlesticks earns the price tag. The crows become sharp geometric shards radiating outward from the center. In a teamfight, dropping that R on the backline and watching those shards tear through a comp is one of the more satisfying visual moments on Fiddlesticks. Had a game last season where we won a dragon pit fight entirely because the enemy was too busy watching the ult VFX to actually disengage in time.

New voice lines come included – a processed, robotic filter treatment that makes Fiddlesticks sound like a malfunctioning AI. Could be wrong here but the VO is probably the most underrated part of this skin. People focus on the model, and fair enough the model is great, but the voice lines carry serious atmosphere into the late-game. The recall animation is a clean mechanical assembly loop. Not flashy, fits the theme well.

Release, artist, and the Praetorian line

Praetorian Fiddlesticks dropped November 8, 2018, in the same patch as Praetorian Graves. Late season 8. The Praetorian skinline is one of those Riot concepts that deserves more entries – robotic, militaristic, vaguely dystopian. Fiddlesticks slots into it naturally because the champion already has this wrongness to every movement that makes him a perfect sci-fi horror fit.

Maki Planas Mata did the splash, and they nailed the composition. Fiddlesticks looms in the foreground against a red-lit industrial backdrop, mechanical joints visible on the arms and torso. Strong piece. Check the centered splash version if you haven’t – the detail reads better in that crop than the standard loading screen art.

Six chromas in the set. Obsidian is my go-to – full dark treatment that pushes the horror angle harder than the metallic base look. Tanzanite goes deep purple and reads cleaner in-game than I expected from the chroma preview. (random aside: the Pearl chroma looks almost ghostly up close, which feels wrong for a robot scarecrow, but somehow it works and I can’t explain why) Shop has it permanently. 1350 RP. Loot eligible if you’re sitting on chests.

Is Praetorian Fiddlesticks worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: yes, for Fiddlesticks mains this is the skin to own. Grinded ranked with Praetorian through most of season 9 and never needed to switch back. The ult visual alone justifies the Epic price – landing Crowstorm on a clustered enemy team and watching those geometric shards tear through their entire backline is better than anything the base skin delivers.

Fiddlesticks one-tricks already know. For anyone picking him up for jungle this season, lock in Praetorian before anything else. The combination of model, processed VO, and R VFX creates the strongest version of the Fiddlesticks fantasy you can play right now. Not sure if thats the consensus take everywhere, but it’s mine after a couple hundred games in Diamond with this skin on.
