Winterblessed Diana

First game I loaded into with Winterblessed Diana was around 1 AM on a Thursday, right after the patch dropped in December 2022. Locked her in for a jungle clear and immediately noticed the difference. Not just a reskin. The whole champion feels reborn in this frost-divine aesthetic, and I think Riot understood the assignment here. Legendary tier done right.

How Winterblessed Diana actually plays

The Q is where it starts. Crescent Strike leaves this trail of ice crystals and golden light that reads so cleanly against the Rift. Played maybe 40 games in Diamond with this skin before I even tried another Diana option, and the Q arc felt easier to track than base. Could be wrong here but I swear the visual clarity is better.

W shield orbs got the full treatment. Three frost-blessed orbs orbit Diana with this pale blue shimmer, and when they detonate on contact the particle burst is satisfying. Clean hit feedback. Not subtle either, your lane opponent sees it too.

E pull-in has reworked particles that match the winter theme. Frosty tendrils instead of the usual moonlight. Works well in teamfights when you’re diving the backline and need to peel multiple targets into your combo. The visual distinction from base E is massive.

R though. Moonfall in this skin is the highlight. The ult drops this enormous divine winter sigil on the ground, golden light radiating outward through ice. Been spamming this in ranked and every time I land a clean R on 3+ people the visual payoff matches the dopamine. Big engage energy. (Random aside: I screenshot my best Winterblessed Diana ults and theres like 30 of them in my screenshots folder now.)

Recall animation deserves a mention. Diana kneels in this ceremonial frost prayer, ice forming around her blade. One of the longer recall animations but it fits the divine guardian fantasy. Feels earned after a successful gank.

New voice and the Winterblessed line

Full new VO with Nicole Oliver. The voice lines carry this skin hard. Diana sounds like an ancient protector of winter, authoritative but not cold. Specific lines reference the Winterblessed universe and other champions in the skinline. Real talk though, I didnt expect the voice to matter this much. It adds weight to every engage.

Winterblessed dropped December 8, 2022. Late season 12 release. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen nailed the splash, the composition puts Diana front and center with this massive frost blade raised against a golden winter sky. Portfolio-worthy piece.

The Winterblessed skinline is one of Riot’s holiday-adjacent themes that actually holds up outside December. Not locked into Christmas vibes. More divine winter guardian than Santa’s helper. Diana fits it naturally because her moon deity aesthetic translates perfectly into frost mythology. Way better fit than some of the other Winterblessed picks honestly.

6 chromas total. Wreathguard is the standout for me, the red and green contrast hits different during the holiday season and reads as festive without being corny. Pearl goes full ice queen, almost too clean. Emerald shifts the palette toward jade tones which I think clashes with the golden VFX a bit. Not gonna lie, I rotate between Wreathguard and base depending on my mood. The other three are fine but nothing I’d lock in over those two.

Where Winterblessed sits in Diana’s skin lineup

Diana has a stacked catalog now. Dark Cosmic, Sentinel, Firecracker, Heavenscale. Kinda feels like every other patch she gets something new. But Winterblessed earned the Legendary price tag at 1820 RP. New model, new VFX on every ability, full voice over, unique recall. The checklist is complete.

Compared to her other options? I think this is the best Diana skin if you value the total package. Dark Cosmic is gorgeous but its Epic tier, so no new voice lines. Sentinel Diana is solid but thematically generic. Heavenscale came later and competes on the visual front but Winterblessed has that winter atmosphere that just hits in the right comp.

Still in the shop. 1820 RP, permanent availability. Not going anywhere.

Maybe just my experience but Diana mains I’ve played with in season 13 and 14 consistently run either this or Dark Cosmic. Seen maybe 5 other Winterblessed Dianas in my games since release, which is surprising given the quality. Might be the December release window burying it under holiday spending fatigue.

Should you buy Winterblessed Diana?

Straight talk: if you main Diana in any role, jungle or mid, this skin justifies 1820 RP. The voice lines alone separate it from every other Diana skin. VFX are top tier, chromas give you options, and the Winterblessed theme ages well outside the holiday season.

Skip it if you only play Diana occasionally. At Legendary price you want to be locking her in regularly to get value. For the one-trick Diana player grinding ranked at 2 AM on a Tuesday? First choice. S-tier Diana cosmetic. The kind of skin that makes you want to queue up one more game just to see that R animation pop off in a dragon pit fight again.

Worth 1820 if you main Diana. Full stop.
