First game I played with True Damage Yasuo was a late night ranked session, maybe 1 AM on a Wednesday. Locked it in blind and the loading screen splash alone had me hyped. Kelly Aleshire nailed the splash, the whole streetwear aesthetic just works on Yasuo in a way I wasnt expecting. Not sure if it’s just me but something about putting a windwall samurai in a bomber jacket and headphones feels right. The True Damage line dropped November 10, 2019 alongside that Worlds performance, and honestly Yasuo got one of the cleanest skins out of the whole set.

What True Damage Yasuo actually changes

For 1350 RP you get new VFX across the board and a fresh recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no new VO. The Q tornado has this neon blue-white energy trail that reads way cleaner in teamfights than base Yasuo. Feels like tracking your Q3 tornado through a messy dragon pit fight is easier because the particle contrast is sharper against most Rift terrain.

The W windwall got a visual refresh too. Subtle change but it has this digital glitch effect on the edges. Simple change – huge impact on making it feel modern. His E dashes leave a brief trail that matches the skin’s color palette, and the R knockup VFX has that same neon energy burst. Not Legendary tier where every ability gets a complete overhaul, but for an Epic skin Riot put in solid work here.

Recall animation is the standout though. Yasuo pulls out headphones and starts vibing to music, fits the True Damage music theme perfectly. Been running this skin in Diamond for multiple seasons now and I still dont skip the recall. (Random aside: I’ve seen maybe two other True Damage Yasuos in my games all season, which is wild considering how popular Yasuo is.) The model itself is clean, modern streetwear with the jacket, the sneakers, the whole fit. Looks like he walked out of a Tokyo fashion district and decided to splitpush bot lane.

The True Damage skinline and release context

True Damage dropped as Riot’s second music group skin set after K/DA. The lineup had Ekko, Senna, Qiyana, Akali, and Yasuo. Released during patch 9.22 if I remember right, late into season 9. The True Damage line hit different because it leaned into hip-hop and streetwear instead of K-pop. Yasuo fits the vibe naturally.

7 chromas total for this one. Obsidian goes full dark mode, which I think reads the best in-game because the contrast on abilities stays sharp. Freestyle is the interesting pick with that hot pink and deep navy combo, feels like it could be its own standalone skin. Amethyst is solid if you want that purple mage energy on a melee carry. Rest are fine but those three stood out across maybe 200 games with this skin.

Kinda feels like True Damage was peak Riot skin design for the music universe. The skins look good without being overloaded with particles. Available any time in the shop, no vault rotation or loot-only nonsense. Spammed this in Diamond during season 10 and 11 specifically, back when Yasuo mid was more viable in the comp before all the assassin changes.

Should you buy True Damage Yasuo?

Real verdict: Yasuo has a ridiculous number of skins at this point. Nightbringer exists. Spirit Blossom exists. Truth Dragon exists. So where does True Damage land? Honestly I think its top three for Yasuo if you care about clean visuals without the noise. Nightbringer is flashier, sure, but True Damage has this understated confidence that ages well.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX refresh is noticeable, the recall is fun, the model stands out in lane. Could be wrong here but I think this skin gets overlooked because it released the same patch as Prestige True Damage Yasuo, and people either went all-in on prestige or skipped both. That ranked game where my Kayn inted three kills pre-6 and I still carried a teamfight at dragon, True Damage Yasuo looked clean doing it. Worth 1350 if you main Yasuo. Skip it if you already have Nightbringer or Spirit Blossom and only want one Yasuo skin in rotation. But for one-tricks who cycle through skins? Top pick for Yasuo mains, no question.
