Conqueror Karma

First time I saw Conqueror Karma load in was during MSI 2017 season and I remember thinking Riot actually put effort into an esports tie-in for once. The gold and red palette hits different from her usual green tones. Not gonna lie, this skin caught me off guard because Karma doesnt usually get the flashy treatment from Riot’s event team.

What the skin actually changes

Conqueror Karma runs a full gold and crimson color scheme across her model. The mantle, the fans, the flowing fabric – everything screams tournament prestige without crossing into gaudy territory. Her abilities got new VFX which surprised me for a 975 RP skin. The Q fires out with a warm golden trail, and when you Mantra-Q in a teamfight the impact zone reads way cleaner than base. Solid change.

Her recall animation is custom too. She does this meditative pose with golden energy swirling around her, feels fitting for the Conqueror line’s whole “champion of the tournament” vibe. Voice lines stay base, no new VO here, but honestly for 975 RP you’re not expecting that.

Could be wrong here but I think the W tether looks slightly more visible with the gold coloring, which actually helps in lane when you’re trying to root someone under tower. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season in Diamond and the visual clarity on her E shield is noticeably better than default. The golden barrier around your ADC just pops more against the Rift’s green and brown tones.

The Conqueror line and release context

Released April 23, 2017. Right around MSI that year. Xu ‘Crow God’ Cheng nailed the splash art, the composition with Karma floating above what looks like an arena is clean work. The Conqueror skinline is Riot’s esports celebration series, and Karma was the 2017 pick. Makes sense given how much she dominated pro play that season.

Legacy vault skin now, so you cant just grab it whenever. Gotta wait for the vault to open or get lucky with Hextech crafting. There’s 1 chroma available, the Golden variant, which pushes the gold even harder. Kinda feels like gilding the lily since the base is already gold-heavy, but the Golden chroma adds deeper metallic tones that separate it from the standard version in my opinion.

(Random aside: my duo partner who’s an enchanter main has this skin and the Golden chroma set as his permanent Karma setup since 2018 and refuses to switch even after Dawnbringer dropped.)

Is Conqueror Karma worth 975 RP?

Real verdict: for a Standard tier skin at 975 RP with custom VFX and a new recall, this is above average value. Most skins at this price point give you a model swap and call it a day. Conqueror actually delivers on the fantasy.

The catch is availability. Sits in the Legacy pool so you’re at Riot’s mercy for when it shows up. Been maining Karma with this skin off and on since season 8 and I think its still one of her cleanest looks. Not as loaded as Dawnbringer or Odyssey obviously, but the restraint works here. The gold reads as elegant, not busy.

If you main Karma and care about the esports history angle, this is a no-brainer pickup next time the vault opens. Skip it if you already own Tranquility Dragon or Dark Star though, those give you more bang for the RP in terms of raw visual changes. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. For Karma one-tricks specifically, this fills the “clean competitive” slot in your skin rotation that nothing else really covers. Worth it.
