Conqueror Alistar

First time I locked in Conqueror Alistar was right after MSI 2019. Something about the red and gold color scheme just clicked for me, and I remember thinking Riot finally gave support tanks a skin that looks like it belongs on a championship stage. Been running this in Diamond ranked ever since it dropped and honestly the skin still holds up years later.

What Conqueror Alistar actually brings

So this is a 975 RP Standard tier skin, which means you’re not getting a full overhaul. Voice lines stay base. But what you do get matters. The model swap is clean. Red and gold armor plating across Alistar’s body, with these intricate patterns that reference the MSI trophy aesthetic. Solid work.

The new VFX are where the skin earns its price. Q slam has this golden shockwave that reads way better in teamfights than base Alistar. Not gonna lie, the W charge feels heavier visually too, even though thats probably just placebo from the color shift. E pulses have a warm golden glow that makes healing your ADC feel more impactful somehow.

Recall animation is custom. Alistar plants the Conqueror banner into the ground and roars. Short, aggressive, fits the theme. Nothing fancy but it beats the default recall by a mile. Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack particles also got a slight golden tint, especially noticeable when you’re clearing wards or csing under tower during lane phase.

No new VO though. Base voice pack is what you get. For 975 RP thats expected, and Harlan Hogan’s original lines work fine with the aesthetic anyway.

The Conqueror line and release context

Conqueror Alistar released April 30, 2019. Right around MSI that year. The Conqueror skinline has always been Riot’s way of celebrating international competition, and Alistar was the pick for 2019. Previous years gave us Conqueror Varus and Conqueror Karma, so the line already had a track record of solid skins before Alistar joined.

Xu ‘Crow God’ Cheng nailed the splash. The composition puts Alistar front and center with the red cape flowing behind him, golden armor catching light. Really captures that “final boss of pro play” energy. (Random aside: I had this splash as my Discord avatar for like three months straight.)

Legacy vault skin. You cant just grab it from the shop whenever you want. Sits in the vault and typically comes back during esports events or special sales. Hextech crafting is another route if you’re lucky with rolls. One Golden chroma exists, which pushes the gold elements even harder. The Golden chroma specifically turns the red sections into a deeper amber, and honestly it looks premium for a chroma. Maybe just my experience but the Golden variant gets more comments in lobby than the base Conqueror version.

Should you pick up Conqueror Alistar?

Real verdict: if you play Alistar in ranked with any regularity, this is worth tracking down. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX upgrade on Q alone makes teamfight engages look better, and when you’re diving the backline at dragon pit around 25 minutes into a game, the golden particles actually help your team see where the peel is happening.

The catch is availability. Being Legacy means you’re waiting for Riot to bring it back or hoping for a lucky reroll. Played against one last Tuesday in a Diamond 3 game and it reminded me how rare these are in solo queue. Seen maybe five total this entire season.

Compared to other Alistar skins, Conqueror sits comfortably in the upper half. Moo Cow is the meme pick, Hextech is the flex, but Conqueror Alistar is the one that says you actually take the champion seriously. Top pick for Alistar mains who want something clean without going full Legendary price. The Conqueror skinline aesthetic just works on a champion built for engage and teamfight presence. 975 RP well spent for mains, assuming you can find it in rotation.
