First time I saw Blood Moon Talon load in, the splash alone sold me. That crimson mask with the blade raised overhead. Been running this skin since it dropped in February 2017 and I still think it holds up against skins that came out years later. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about Talon in the Blood Moon aesthetic that just clicks harder than most of the roster.

What Blood Moon actually changes on Talon

So this is a 1350 RP Epic skin, which means you get new VFX and a new recall animation but voice lines stay base. No new VO. Thats fine honestly because Travis Willingham’s base Talon voice already carries enough edge. The visual overhaul is where the money went and it shows.

The Q feels different. Not mechanically obviously but the crimson slash effect when you proc Noxian Diplomacy up close has this satisfying blood-red burst. Rake (W) throws out these dark red crescent blades that read really clean against the Rift, especially in river fights. I’ve had games where hitting a three-man W in a teamfight around dragon pit last season looked genuinely cinematic. The particles trail nicely.

His E, the wall hop, gets subtle dark energy wisps. Nothing crazy but enough to notice. The ult is the real showpiece though. Shadow Assault pops these Blood Moon themed blades outward with deep crimson and black VFX. Played maybe 40 games with this in Diamond last month and the R into backline combo just looks clean every single time. The converging blades on return have that satisfying visual punch.

Recall animation has Talon doing this ritual with the Blood Moon mask. Short, stylish, fits the theme. (Random aside: I once accidentally canceled this recall three times in a row during a ranked game because my jungler kept pinging for herald. Pain.)

The Blood Moon line and where this skin fits

Blood Moon is one of Riot’s longest running skinlines. Started way back and has covered assassins and fighters pretty thoroughly. Talon fits the theme like he was designed for it. The whole Blood Moon fantasy is demon-possessed warriors performing rituals under a crimson moon, and an assassin who literally jumps walls to delete carries? Perfect candidate.

Alex ‘alexplank’ Flores nailed the splash. The composition with Talon mid-leap, mask on, blades out. It reads as both elegant and threatening which is hard to pull off. Released February 9, 2017, back in season 7. Could be wrong here but I think this was around the same patch cycle as Blood Moon Jhin and a few others in that wave.

No chromas on this one. Zero. Which honestly I’m okay with because the base red and black color scheme is already perfect for the Blood Moon aesthetic. Sometimes chromas dilute a clean design and Blood Moon Talon doesnt need color variants to stand out.

Shop has it. Permanent availability so you can grab it whenever. No vault rotation or loot-only nonsense to deal with.

Should you lock in Blood Moon Talon for 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is one of those skins that punches above its price class. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX are clean, the model looks sharp, and the thematic cohesion between Talon’s kit and the Blood Moon fantasy is stronger than most forced skinline placements.

Been maining Talon with this skin on and off for years. If you’re a Talon one-trick you probably already own it. If you’re picking up Talon for the first time and want something that looks good while you learn to roam and delete the enemy ADC pre-6, this is the one. Real talk though, High Noon Talon and Enduring Sword Talon exist as competition in the Epic tier. High Noon leans western, Enduring Sword goes mythic Chinese warrior. Blood Moon Talon splits the difference with pure dark assassin energy.

Skip Withered Rose if you want edge. Blood Moon is the play. Worth 1350 if you main Talon. I keep coming back to this one every few months when I get tired of whatever newer skin just dropped. Last Tuesday I swapped back to it after a two-week Enduring Sword phase and immediately felt more locked in. Might be overthinking it but the darker particles just read better in late-game teamfights when the screen gets busy. Top pick for Talon mains and it’s not particularly close for the price point.
