Pantheon ARAM Build and Guide

Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.

A Pantheon ARAM build is a Lethality and Ability Haste build that turns Comet Spear into long-range poke and Grand Starfall into a frequent engage. Pantheon plays at 100% damage dealt and 100% damage taken in ARAM. In other words, the Howling Abyss leaves him exactly as he is on the Rift. That’s rarer than it sounds.

Our item choices trace straight to his patch 26.21 kit. Win-rate sites stayed closed for this one.

How is Pantheon changed in ARAM?

ARAM modifier Pantheon
Damage dealt 100%
Damage taken 100%

Not one bit. Both values sit at 100%, which is the mode’s way of saying “no change”, and nothing else in his kit gets adjusted. Most champions in the pool carry at least one ARAM tweak, so a clean sheet is a quiet vote of confidence that he’s neither too strong nor too weak here. What does change is the context. His lane bully pattern (stun, empowered spear, shield) still works, but now it has to work against five people at once, and the long game he usually avoids is unavoidable on the Abyss.

Why does Pantheon fit the Howling Abyss?

Because a thrown Comet Spear is real poke down a straight lane, and Grand Starfall can drop him anywhere in the fight. From Riot’s patch 26.21 text:

  • Mortal Will (passive): after a few spells or attacks, the next spell is empowered.
  • Comet Spear (Q): thrust it up close or throw it in a chosen direction. Cooldown 11/10.25/9.5/8.75/8.
  • Shield Vault (W): dash onto a target, damaging and stunning it. Cooldown 13/12/11/10/9.
  • Aegis Assault (E): shield raised, invulnerable to frontal damage while his spear strikes repeatedly. Cooldown 22/21/20/19/18.
  • Grand Starfall (R): he composes himself, leaps skyward and crashes down as a comet at a chosen spot. Cooldown 180/165/150.

Comet Spear is the bread and butter (and the reason to pick him here). Throw it at the enemy frontline, build Mortal Will stacks, then land an empowered throw on whoever drops low. To be fair, Aegis Assault gets more useful here too. In a lane where all the damage comes from one direction, a shield that blocks damage from the front blocks almost everything for its duration. Honestly, Grand Starfall is the flashy part. On the Rift it’s a map-wide roam; in ARAM it’s a way to land behind the enemy team, Shield Vault their carry, and start the fight on your terms.

What should a Pantheon ARAM build focus on?

Lethality for the spear, Ability Haste for more spears, and one item that keeps him alive after he dives. Thing is, a Pantheon who builds only damage lands his combo once and then watches the rest from the fountain.

Eclipse goes first. Ever Rising Moon grants a Shield for 2 seconds when he hits a champion with 2 separate attacks or abilities within 2 seconds, which his Shield Vault into Comet Spear combo triggers almost every time. It also carries 60 Attack Damage and 15 Ability Haste.

Axiom Arc is second. Flux refunds part of his ultimate’s cooldown whenever a champion he damaged in the last 3 seconds dies, and ARAM fights produce kills in bunches. A 180 second Grand Starfall that refunds itself turns into a regular engage rather than a once-a-game play. Add 18 Lethality and 20 Ability Haste.

Third, Serylda’s Grudge. Its 35% Armor Penetration matters against random teams that often stack tanks, and Bitter Cold makes damaging abilities slow enemies below 50% Health by 30%, so low targets can’t walk away from the next spear.

Edge of Night finishes the build. Annul is a Spell Shield that blocks the next enemy Ability, which is the difference between surviving a leap onto a stun-heavy backline and not, and its 250 Health helps the same way. Plated Steelcaps suit physical damage teams, and Mercury’s Treads suit everything else.

How do you play Pantheon on the Howling Abyss?

  • Throw Comet Spear, don’t thrust it. Long throws build Mortal Will without walking into the enemy team.
  • Keep the empowered spell for a low target. Mortal Will turns the next cast into the finisher.
  • Face Aegis Assault toward the damage. It only blocks damage from the front, and in one lane the front is easy to find.
  • Land Grand Starfall behind the enemy backline, then Shield Vault the carry for the stun.
  • Fight for kills after your ultimate. Axiom Arc refunds part of its cooldown on each takedown.

How do no-recall shopping and Mark affect Pantheon?

ARAM has no recall button. The fountain sells you items on the first walk out and after you die; otherwise you live off the relics on the lane. Pantheon has no healing in his kit at all, so a long life usually means a slow drift toward low Health (Eclipse’s shield helps, but it isn’t sustain). Real talk: dying with enough gold for a full item is fine if you spend it immediately.

In ARAM your summoner bar can hold Mark, a snowball that turns into a dash after it hits a champion. Summoners are fixed once the loading screen appears. Pantheon already has Shield Vault and Grand Starfall to engage, so Mark is a third gap closer. Is that overkill? Sometimes, but snowball into Shield Vault reaches targets that are well beyond his dash range, which matters when the ultimate is down.

Is Pantheon good in ARAM?

He’s solid. Neutral modifiers mean nothing works against him, a thrown Comet Spear is good poke in a straight lane, and Grand Starfall becomes a teamfight engage instead of a roam. His weak spot is the lack of sustain. Pantheon has no heal and no scaling in his kit, so long games and long fights favour the other side.

The top laners who handle his early burst best are in our Pantheon counter picks. Top or support? Our explainer on LoL roles covers both of his usual Rift positions. The items database lists every stat above, and you can browse his cosmetics on the Pantheon skins page.

In short, the Pantheon ARAM build is Eclipse, Axiom Arc, Serylda’s Grudge and Edge of Night: throw spears, drop in with Grand Starfall, and let each kill bring the comet back sooner.

FAQ

Does Pantheon have ARAM modifiers?

No. The patch 26.21 wiki data has his damage dealt at 100% and damage taken at 100%, the neutral setting, so he plays exactly as on Summoner’s Rift.

What items does the Pantheon ARAM build use?

Eclipse, Axiom Arc, Serylda’s Grudge and Edge of Night, with Plated Steelcaps or Mercury’s Treads.

Why Axiom Arc on Pantheon?

Grand Starfall has a 180 second cooldown at rank 1, and Axiom Arc’s Flux passive refunds part of the ultimate’s cooldown whenever a champion he recently damaged dies.

Does Aegis Assault block all damage?

No, only damage from the front. While it’s up, Pantheon is invulnerable to damage coming from that direction.

What was this build based on?

On Pantheon’s patch 26.21 abilities read alongside each item’s passive. Win rates weren’t consulted.
