Poppy ARAM Build and Guide
Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.
A Poppy ARAM build is a tank build with enough Move Speed to reach the enemy carry and pin them against the lane’s walls. The Howling Abyss is kind to her: in ARAM Poppy deals 110% damage, takes 95% damage and has 120% tenacity. Add a map lined with walls for Heroic Charge, and she’s one of the better tanks you can roll.
Each item below is tied to something in her patch 26.21 kit. We never opened a win-rate page while writing it.

How is Poppy changed in ARAM?
| ARAM modifier | Poppy |
|---|---|
| Damage dealt | 110% |
| Damage taken | 95% |
| Tenacity | 120% |
Three buffs. Her hammer hits 10% harder, she shrugs off 5% of incoming damage, and crowd control on her wears off faster thanks to the tenacity value. For a tank who walks into five enemies, the last one is the sneaky best. A Poppy who isn’t stuck in a stun for long gets back to Heroic Charge sooner. Why buff her? She leans on walls and dashes from enemies to be useful, and random teams don’t always give her both. The modifiers smooth that out (well, mostly).
Why does Poppy fit the Howling Abyss?
Walls everywhere. The lane is narrow with terrain on both sides, which is exactly what her stun needs. What her patch 26.21 ability text says:
- Iron Ambassador (passive): a thrown buckler that bounces off the target and becomes a temporary shield when she collects it.
- Hammer Shock (Q): a swing that leaves a slowing zone behind, exploding after a short delay. Cooldown 8/7/6/5/4.
- Steadfast Presence (W): passive resistances that grow at low Health; activate for Move Speed and to stop nearby enemy dashes, grounding and slowing whoever gets caught. Cooldown 20/18/16/14/12.
- Heroic Charge (E): she dashes to a target and drives it backward, stunning it on contact with a wall. Cooldown 14/13/12/11/10.
- Keeper’s Verdict (R): a channelled hammer strike that sends enemies flying very far away. Cooldown 140/120/100.
Look, Heroic Charge is the headline. On the Rift you often have to drag a fight toward the jungle to find terrain; on the Abyss, almost every angle ends in a wall, so the charge stuns far more often. To be fair, Steadfast Presence gets better too. Random team comps are full of dashes, and grounding a diver on the way to your carry is a fight-winning play. Keeper’s Verdict? In a single lane, knocking the enemy tank back toward their tower can split their team in half (and buy your carry a few free seconds).
What should a Poppy ARAM build focus on?
Armor, Health and Move Speed. Thing is, Heroic Charge is her only gap closer, so she needs a bit of speed to reach targets once it’s on cooldown.
Dead Man’s Plate is the first buy (the only one of the four with both Armor and Move Speed). Shipwrecker builds up to 20 bonus Move Speed while she moves and discharges it as bonus physical damage on her next attack, and Unsinkable cuts slow effectiveness by 15%. Speed to reach the carry, a hit when she gets there, and 55 Armor with 350 Health on top.
Second, Sunfire Aegis. Immolate keeps a magic burn ticking on everyone near her for 3 seconds after any exchange, and Poppy spends whole fights next to the enemy frontline. With the 110% damage modifier, that burn adds up.
Third, Randuin’s Omen. Humility slows nearby enemies by 70% for 2 seconds, which keeps a charged target from walking away, and Resilience reduces damage from critical strikes by 30%. In practice, pick it when the enemy has a crit marksman. Against a magic-heavy team, Force of Nature goes here instead, granting 70 extra Magic Resist after 8 instances of magic damage.
Unending Despair rounds out the build: every 4 seconds of champion combat it hits nearby enemies with magic damage and heals her for 250% of it. On a map without recall, that self-heal keeps her on the front line. Boots are Mercury’s Treads, whose 30% Tenacity stacks with her ARAM tenacity bonus.
How do you play Poppy on the Howling Abyss?
- Charge toward the side walls. Heroic Charge stuns only when the target hits terrain, and the Abyss lane is lined with it.
- Hold Steadfast Presence for enemy divers. It stops dashes near her and grounds whoever it catches.
- Use Keeper’s Verdict to split the enemy team. Sending their tank far away leaves the backline exposed.
- Collect your buckler after throwing it; Iron Ambassador’s shield comes only when she picks it up.
- Drop Hammer Shock on clumped enemies. The zone slows and then explodes after a delay.
How do no-recall shopping and Mark work for Poppy?
No recall means the fountain is the only shop, available on the first walk out and after every death. The lane’s relics handle Health in between. Poppy’s passive resistances climb as her Health falls, so she lasts longer at low Health than most tanks, but that’s no reason to sit on gold (spend it on the next respawn).
Mark is a snowball with a follow-up: land it, and a second press flies you to the champion you hit. The summoner pair is fixed before loading. On Poppy, Mark is the long-range engage she otherwise lacks: snowball the carry, dash, then Heroic Charge them into the nearest wall. Honestly, few combos in ARAM feel better than that one. Just remember Mark’s dash is a dash, and enemy Poppy players will stop it the same way you would.
Is Poppy good in ARAM?
Yes. The 110% damage dealt, 95% damage taken and 120% tenacity modifiers all help, and a lane full of walls turns Heroic Charge into a reliable stun. Her weak spot is reach. With only one gap closer and 125 range, a kiting team can keep her busy unless she buys Move Speed.

The short version: the Poppy ARAM build is Dead Man’s Plate, Sunfire Aegis, Randuin’s Omen and Unending Despair on Mercury’s Treads, and every Heroic Charge should end at a wall.
FAQ
Is Poppy buffed in ARAM?
Yes. In patch 26.21 data from the League of Legends Wiki, her ARAM values are 110% damage dealt, 95% damage taken and 120% tenacity.
What items should Poppy build in ARAM?
Dead Man’s Plate, Sunfire Aegis, Randuin’s Omen and Unending Despair, with Mercury’s Treads. Force of Nature replaces Randuin’s Omen against magic damage.
Why is Heroic Charge stronger in ARAM?
It only stuns when the target is pushed into terrain, and the Howling Abyss has walls along both sides of its lane.
Does Steadfast Presence stop Mark’s dash?
It stops enemy dashes around Poppy while active. A dash from Mark that ends near her is a dash, so the same rule applies.
How was this build chosen?
Each item matches a part of Poppy’s patch 26.21 kit. No win-rate data was used.
