Camille Counters: Who Beats Camille
Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch.
Camille counters are top laners who stop the Hookshot or punish the attack that follows it. She’s a 125-range fighter with a shield that adapts to your damage type, an empowered attack, a cone that heals her, a wall-jump that knocks up, and an ultimate that pens one champion in with her, so dash denial, attack denial and Wounds all do real work.
The five picks come from laying her patch 26.21 ability text next to theirs. Win rates had nothing to do with it.

Why is Camille hard to counter?
- Adaptive Defenses (passive): basic attacks on champions grant a shield equal to a percentage of her maximum Health against that champion’s damage type, physical or magic, for a brief duration.
- Precision Protocol (Q): her next attack deals bonus damage and grants Move Speed. It can be recast shortly after, and the second hit deals significantly more if she waits between the two. Cooldown 9/8/7/6/5.
- Tactical Sweep (W): after a delay she blasts a cone. Enemies in the outer half are slowed, take extra damage and heal her. Cooldown 12/11.5/11/10.5/10.
- Hookshot (E): she pulls herself to a wall, leaps off it and knocks up enemy champions where she lands. Cooldown 16/15/14/13/12.
- The Hextech Ultimatum (R): she dashes to a target champion and anchors them to the area, dealing bonus magic damage with her attacks on them. Cooldown 140/115/90.
Camille picks the fight and picks who’s in it. Hookshot gets her there over a wall, the landing knocks you up, and The Hextech Ultimatum anchors one champion to the area so nobody leaves and nobody helps. Inside that circle she has a shield against whatever damage type you deal, a double-hit Q and a cone that heals her. What’s missing? A second gap closer once Hookshot is spent, any way to shield against both damage types at once, and anything that works if the first attack never connects. That last point is where several picks below live.
Which champions are the best Camille counters?
Poppy
Steadfast Presence (W), when activated, stops enemy dashes around Poppy, and whoever she stops gets a slow and a grounding. Hookshot is a dash off a wall. Read that twice, because the whole Camille game plan opens with a dash, and Poppy can switch it off on a timer she controls. Steadfast Presence also passively grants Armor and Magic Resist that rise when she is low, Heroic Charge (E) pushes Camille back and stuns her against a wall (there is always a wall, that’s how Camille got here), and Keeper’s Verdict (R) knocks her very far away. Iron Ambassador (passive) adds a shield from the buckler. Honestly, it’s the cleanest answer in the pool.
Jax
Counter Strike (E) is a short window in which Jax dodges every incoming attack, ending with a stun on everyone next to him. Precision Protocol is an attack, Adaptive Defenses needs basic attacks, and The Hextech Ultimatum’s bonus damage rides on basic attacks, so a well-timed Counter Strike removes her damage and her shield in one cast. Leap Strike (Q) follows her over the wall she just hooked to, Relentless Assault (passive) keeps raising his Attack Speed while he swings, and Grandmaster-at-Arms (R) adds Armor and Magic Resist when he activates it. Inside her own ultimate she’s locked in with him. Who wanted that?
Malphite
Ground Slam (E) sends out a shockwave whose magic damage grows with his Armor, and it cuts the Attack Speed of anyone it touches. Camille’s damage is attacks: the Q, the passive shield, the ultimate’s bonus. Slow the attacks and all three shrink. Granite Shield (passive) absorbs damage up to 10% of his maximum Health and recharges when he hasn’t been hit for a few seconds, which lines up with a champion who trades in bursts, Seismic Shard (Q) steals Move Speed for 3 seconds so the Precision Protocol speed boost goes nowhere, and Unstoppable Force (R) knocks her into the air. The catch is that Tactical Sweep deals magic-type damage in the outer half? No, the ability text doesn’t say, and we won’t guess for you. Build Armor and let Ground Slam do the arithmetic.
Renekton
Ruthless Predator (W) above 50 Fury becomes three slashes, a 1.5 second stun, and the removal of any damage shield on the target. Adaptive Defenses is a damage shield. Renekton removes it as part of the stun, then Cull the Meek (Q) heals him off everything around him, and Slice and Dice (E) dashes in and out, which matters because Camille’s Hookshot is one dash and his E is two. Dominus (R) grants bonus Health and generates Fury over time, so the empowered W is available more than once per fight. Thing is, he wins early and Camille scales, so the lane has a clock on it.
Quinn
525 range against 125, and Vault (E) dashes to Camille, slows her, briefly interrupts her, then lands Quinn near her maximum Attack Range away. Hookshot’s knock-up is the setup for Precision Protocol, and an interrupt after the landing breaks that sequence. Blinding Assault (Q) hinders the target’s vision and damages everyone nearby, Harrier (passive) marks targets for bonus physical damage on the first attack, and Behind Enemy Lines (R) flies her out of a lane that has turned bad. Put simply, Camille has to hit a wall to reach Quinn, and the walls are where Quinn isn’t standing (she can move, after all).
How do you play the lane against Camille?
- Stand away from walls. Hookshot needs a wall to pull to and a landing on you to knock you up. Open ground is a Camille with no engage.
- Trade when the first Q lands, not before. Precision Protocol’s second hit deals significantly more damage if she waits between the two, so the gap between hits is her weakest moment.
- Stay inside the inner half of Tactical Sweep. Only the outer half slows, deals extra damage and heals her. Close is safer than far.
- Count Hookshot. At rank 1 it’s a 16 second cooldown, and a Camille without it is a 125-range champion who has to walk at you.
- Mix your damage types if you can. Adaptive Defenses shields against one type, physical or magic, chosen by the champion she attacked.
Which items counter Camille?
Her damage comes from attacks and the Q, which is physical, so Armor first. Plated Steelcaps give 25 Armor and Plating cuts incoming damage from attacks by 10%, which applies to both Precision Protocol hits and the ultimate’s attacks (the bonus magic damage on them is another matter). Tactical Sweep heals her, and Wounds answer healing: Bramble Vest costs 800 gold for 30 Armor and applies 40% Wounds for 3 seconds whenever an attack hits you, and since Camille’s whole kit is attacks, the Wounds are up constantly. Thornmail is the full version with 75 Armor and 150 Health. Frozen Heart brings 75 Armor and Winter’s Caress reduces the Attack Speed of nearby champions by 20%, and a slower Camille is a Camille whose shield and Q arrive late. Randuin’s Omen adds 350 Health, 75 Armor and a 70% slow for 2 seconds on its active, which is the item for when she lands and you’d like her to stop. Mages anchored by the ultimate have Zhonya’s Hourglass: 2.5 seconds of Stasis is 2.5 seconds of her ultimate she spends hitting a statue. Every item here is in our items database, and Sunfire Aegis is the pick for tanks who plan to stand in the circle and burn her.
When is Camille at her weakest?
When Hookshot is on the ground. It is her only gap closer outside the ultimate, a 16 second cooldown at rank 1, and she can’t use it without a wall within reach, so a Camille who hooked in and didn’t kill is a Camille standing in melee with a 125 range and no exit. To be fair, she’s still dangerous there, just not in charge.
And in the pause between Precision Protocol hits. The second attack deals significantly more bonus damage if she delays, which means a Camille who wants her full Q damage has to wait for it, and in that wait she is a melee fighter spending a cooldown. Long story short: stun her then. Poppy, Jax, Renekton and Malphite all can, and Quinn interrupts for free with Vault.
Not sure which lane Camille belongs in these days? Our guide to LoL roles covers the top lane and why fighters like her live there. The Camille skins page has her cosmetics, and for the Howling Abyss, where walls are scarce, there’s the Camille ARAM guide. In practice, Camille counters are dash denial, attack denial and a Bramble Vest, and the best of them have all three.
FAQ
Who counters Camille the most?
Top laners who stop or punish Hookshot: Poppy, Jax, Malphite, Renekton and Quinn.
Can Poppy stop Camille’s Hookshot?
Yes. Steadfast Presence, when activated, stops enemy dashes around Poppy, and Hookshot is a dash from a wall. A stopped Camille is slowed and grounded.
Does Grievous Wounds work against Camille?
Tactical Sweep heals her when enemies are in the outer half of the cone, and Wounds reduce that healing. Bramble Vest or Thornmail apply 40% Wounds when her attacks hit you.
Can you escape The Hextech Ultimatum?
The ability anchors the target to the area. Riot’s description doesn’t list a way out for the anchored champion, so the plan is to win inside it, with a stun, a dodge like Jax’s Counter Strike, or Zhonya’s Hourglass.
How were these five picks chosen?
We compared Camille’s patch 26.21 ability descriptions with each champion’s kit, one matchup at a time, and left statistics out.
