Urf Kench

First time I saw this skin in champ select I thought someone was trolling. Tahm Kench wearing Urf’s spatula and the whole manatee getup is one of those joke skins that either clicks for you or doesnt. Locked it in for a ranked game last March on a whim and honestly could not stop laughing at the recall animation concept alone. Pure comedy pick.

What Urf Kench actually changes

Real talk though, this is a 750 RP Standard tier skin so temper expectations. No new VFX on Q or W. No fancy particles when you devour someone. Voice lines stay base, Pat Duke’s gravelly Southern drawl unchanged. The model swap is where all the value sits.

Tahm Kench gets the full Urf treatment. Spatula replacing his usual walking cane, the manatee onesie draped over his massive frame. Kinda feels like Riot took the April Fools energy and just ran with it. The color palette shifts from Tahm Kench’s usual dark greens and golds to bright teals and lighter tones matching Urf’s iconic look. His hat changes too, fits the whole seafood comedy vibe.

In lane specifically the skin reads well. Been running this in Diamond support games when I want to tilt the enemy bot lane psychologically. Not sure if it’s just me but opponents seem to underestimate you when you’re wearing a manatee costume. Had a Draven last Tuesday around 2 AM rage quit after I devoured him three times in lane phase while looking absolutely ridiculous. Could be wrong here but I think joke skins give you a hidden mental edge in solo queue.

The Urf the Manatee line and release context

Urf Kench dropped March 31, 2016. Right around April Fools, obviously. Part of the Urf the Manatee skinline which Riot pulls out every year for the meme event. Alvin Lee nailed the splash, Tahm Kench looking smug as ever with the spatula propped up. Classic Alvin Lee composition.

No chromas on this one. Shop has it for 750 RP permanently, so no vault anxiety. The Urf the Manatee line has skins scattered across a bunch of champions and they all share that same absurdist energy. Urfrider Corki, Urf the Nami-tee, similar concept. Tahm Kench fits the theme naturally because he’s already a river creature who eats everything. The spatula weapon swap just works for a champion whose whole kit revolves around consuming things.

(Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I use this skin because he says the model distracts him in teamfights. His loss.)

Should you buy Urf Kench?

So is it worth it? For 750 RP you get a solid model change and a good laugh. No new VFX or VO, which is standard for this price point. Think of it as a cosmetic joke rather than a premium experience. Best Tahm Kench skin if you want to tilt people in lane. Worst pick if you want something that actually looks intimidating when you’re peeling for your ADC in late-game teamfights.

Been maining Tahm Kench with this skin on and off since season 6. The novelty wears thin after maybe 30 games but I keep coming back to it every April. 750 RP feels fair for what you get. Skip it if you want serious Tahm Kench energy, grab it if you appreciate Riot’s dumber jokes. Played maybe 200 games with this across multiple seasons and I still crack up when the spatula connects on a Q poke. Worth it for the vibes alone.
