Urf the Manatee Skins

Urf the Manatee is one of those skinlines that shouldn't work but absolutely does. Five skins across four champions, all built around the most legendary joke character Riot ever created. Been playing League since season 2 and every April when Urf mode drops I end up locking in one of these skins just to commit to the bit. The whole line is pure comedy, zero serious fantasy, and honestly thats exactly why it holds up after all these years. Not every skinline needs to be dark and brooding. Sometimes you just want a spatula.

What Makes the Urf the Manatee Line Different
Most skinlines in League have a clear visual identity. Cosmic skins share that deep space purple and gold palette. Blood Moon leans into Japanese demon masks. Urf the Manatee skins share exactly one thing: a dead manatee and his spatula. That's the whole brand.
Not gonna lie, the commitment to the bit is what sells it. Every single skin in this line references Urf in some way. Warwick literally wears the manatee as a onesie. Corki rides him like a mount. Tahm Kench cosplays as him. Nami becomes him. The visual language is consistent in the weirdest possible way. Blue-green manatee body, the iconic spatula weapon, and that goofy face that's been a League meme since 2010.
Could be wrong here but I think this is one of the only skinlines where the humor IS the aesthetic. Other funny skins exist, sure. Definitely Not Blitzcrank, the Bee line, Pool Party. But those are broader comedy. Urf skins are specifically about one character who died in the lore as an April Fools joke and then became immortal through memes. The VFX across the line are minimal since these are all Standard tier skins. No new particles on most of them, no new voice lines. You're paying for the model change and the joke. Period.
The splash arts range from decent to genuinely funny. Urf the Manatee Warwick's original splash is ancient at this point, very 2010 energy. Urfrider Corki's splash holds up better. (Random aside: I used to have the Urfrider Corki splash as my Discord avatar for like two years and nobody ever commented on it, which felt like a personal attack.) The color palette across the line is mostly that teal manatee blue with the brown spatula accent. Simple stuff but recognizable instantly on the Rift.
Compared to other joke skinlines, Urf keeps it tight. Only 5 skins across 7 years of releases. Riot didn't oversaturate it. Every addition felt like an event, usually tied to April Fools or some URF game mode comeback. That restraint actually helps the line punch above its weight class.
Best Urf the Manatee Skins
Kinda feels like ranking these is unfair since they're all Standard tier with minimal changes, but some definitely hit harder than others. Been thinking about this since last URF mode and I have opinions.
Urfwick is the crown jewel. Full stop. Not because the skin itself is visually the best, but because of what it represents. This thing cost 150,000 Blue Essence during the BE Emporium back in late 2017. Saw maybe five people buy it on my friends list and all of them were flexing it in ranked for weeks after. The skin itself is just Warwick in the Urf onesie with updated textures from the Warwick rework, but the exclusivity factor is real. You lock this in during champ select and people notice. Had a jungler in my Diamond promos last season type "respect the Urfwick" in all chat before the game even started.
Urfrider Corki takes second for me. Released back in 2012, this one turns Corki's helicopter into Urf himself. The visual of Corki riding a manatee through the air while dropping bombs is peak League comedy. Works especially well in ARAM where you're constantly in teamfights and everyone can see the absurdity. The model reads clean even at the zoomed-out camera angle which is more than I can say for some older skins.
Urf Kench is the sleeper pick. Tahm Kench already has that wide-mouth energy and putting him in an Urf costume with the spatula tongue just works. Dropped in 2015 and honestly its one of those skins that gets a reaction every time. Not sure if it's just me but Tahm Kench players who use this skin always seem to be the ones hitting those max-range Q tongue grabs in lane.
Urf the Nami-tee rounds it out. 2017 release, clever name, turns Nami into a manatee. Thematic fit is perfect since Nami is already aquatic. The pun in the name carries hard. Good skin for support mains who want to keep it light in ranked.
The original Urf the Manatee Warwick is honestly the weakest now. It's from 2010 and despite getting updated with Warwick's rework, it just doesn't pop the way Urfwick does. If you own both there's zero reason to run the original over Urfwick unless you specifically want the OG flex. Real talk though, the OG version has its own charm for people who been around since early seasons.
Champion Roster and Thematic Fit
Four champions. Warwick, Corki, Tahm Kench, Nami. Small roster but every pick makes sense, which is rare for a skinline this old.
Warwick gets two skins in the line and honestly he deserves both. The entire Urf meme started with Warwick killing Urf in the original April Fools event. Having Warwick wear his victim as a costume is dark comedy that Riot leaned into hard. The predator wearing his prey. There's lore weight behind this joke and it makes both skins hit differently if you know the history. Played maybe 40 games of Warwick jungle last season and I always default to Urfwick when I want to keep the mood light during a losing streak.
Corki as a pilot character was the obvious next choice. He already rides a vehicle so swapping his copter for Urf is a natural fit. The aerial manatee just works. No forcing required.
Tahm Kench is where it gets creative. Big mouth, big body, already kinda looks like he could be related to a manatee if you squint. The costume approach works because Tahm's proportions are round enough to sell the Urf silhouette. Might be overthinking it but I think Riot specifically chose champions whose body shapes could accommodate the manatee look without breaking the model too much.
Nami is the most recent addition and the most thematic. Aquatic champion becomes aquatic meme creature. Makes perfect sense. (Sidebar for support mains specifically: this skin actually feels decent in lane because the blue-green palette blends with river which might mess with enemy perception during ganks. Probably placebo but I'll take any edge in Diamond.)
Who should get the next Urf skin? Been saying this since season 10 but Fizz is the obvious answer. Aquatic, playful, already has the trickster personality. Zac could also work with the stretchy body thing. Maybe even Nautilus since he's already a deep sea diver. Riot hasn't added to this line since 2017 though so dont hold your breath.
Tier and Price Breakdown
All five skins sit at Standard tier. No Epics, no Legendaries, no new voice lines or particles across the entire line. This is a model-swap skinline through and through.
Price range is wild though. Most of them sit around 750 RP which is fair for what you get. Standard model swap, Standard price, no complaints. But then there's Urfwick at 150,000 Blue Essence which was only available during specific BE Emporium events. That pricing puts it in a completely different category. You're not buying Urfwick for the visuals. You're buying it for the flex. Spent my entire BE stash on it back in December 2017 and had to grind for two months just to afford the next champion release after that.
The lack of higher-tier entries actually keeps the line honest. There's no 1820 RP Legendary Urf skin trying to justify new voice lines and ability VFX for a joke concept. The humor works precisely because it's low-investment. Quick visual gag, spatula weapon, move on. If Riot ever made a 1350 RP Epic Urf skin with custom particles I think it would feel overproduced. Some jokes work better when they're simple.
For the 750 RP entries, value is solid. You're paying less than a lunch for a skin that consistently gets reactions in champ select and in game. No chromas exist for any of these skins which makes sense given their age and novelty status. The Urf the Manatee line is about the gag, not about color customization.
Fair warning, the original Urf the Manatee Warwick skin has weird availability. It was a limited release back in April 2010 and sits in the Legacy vault now. You cant just go buy it. Urfwick was the BE Emporium exclusive. Urfrider Corki is Legacy too if I remember right. Basically half this line requires either luck or patience to acquire. Urf Kench and Urf the Nami-tee are the most accessible of the bunch. Kind of annoying for collectors but that scarcity adds to the meme value I guess.
Thing is, the whole pricing conversation for this line is secondary to the cultural value. These skins represent Riot's willingness to be goofy with their own game. In a ranked match on a Tuesday night at 1 AM when everyone's tilted, locking in Urfwick changes the energy in champ select. I've seen it defuse toxic lobbies. Can't put an RP price on that. Well, technically 150,000 BE, but you get the point.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many Urf the Manatee skins are there?
Five skins total in the Urf the Manatee line. Warwick has two of them, Urf the Manatee and Urfwick, then Urfrider Corki, Urf Kench, and Urf the Nami-tee. Pretty small roster compared to most skinlines but Riot keeps it tight. Last addition was 2017 so the line might be done growing, hard to say.
What is the best Urf the Manatee skin?
Urfwick if you care about rarity and flex factor. That 150,000 BE price tag makes it a status symbol in any lobby. For pure visual comedy though, Urfrider Corki is hard to beat. Corki flying around on a manatee never gets old. Spammed it in ARAM for like three months straight last year and still laughed every game.
Which champions have Urf the Manatee skins?
Four champions: Warwick gets two skins, then Corki, Tahm Kench, and Nami each have one. All picks make thematic sense. Warwick killed Urf in the lore, Corki rides things, Tahm Kench has the body for it, and Nami is already aquatic. Small but well-chosen roster honestly.
Does Urf the Manatee have Legendary skins?
Nope. All five skins are Standard tier. No Legendaries, no Epics, no new voice lines or custom VFX anywhere in the line. Keeps the joke clean and low-effort in a good way. Not every meme needs a 1820 RP production behind it. The simplicity is part of the charm for this one.
When did the Urf the Manatee skinline release?
First skin dropped in 2010 with the original Urf the Manatee Warwick for April Fools. Line ran from 2010 to 2017 with Urf the Nami-tee being the latest addition. Seven year span for five skins. Riot added roughly one every couple years, always around the URF game mode hype cycle.
Are Urf the Manatee skins worth buying?
At 750 RP for most of them, yeah. You're paying for comedy value and thats genuinely worth it if you play the champion. The reaction in champ select alone is worth the price. Urfwick is a different conversation since it costs 150,000 Blue Essence and requires the Emporium to be open. Only worth grinding for if you're a Warwick main who wants the ultimate flex.
Do Urf the Manatee skins have chromas?
No chromas for any of the five skins. Given that most of these released between 2010 and 2017 and chromas weren't really a thing for Standard skins back then, makes sense. Doubt Riot goes back to add chromas to joke skins from a decade ago. What you see is what you get with this line.
Will Riot make more Urf the Manatee skins?
Maybe but I wouldnt bet on it. Last release was 2017 and Riot hasn't touched the line in years. URF game mode still comes back regularly so the character has cultural relevance. Fizz, Zac, and Nautilus all feel like natural fits if they ever revisit it. Could see it happening for a milestone April Fools event but nothing confirmed.
