Sugar Rush Ziggs

First game I played with Sugar Rush Ziggs I literally could not stop laughing. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about a yordle chucking gingerbread cookies and candy canes at people in a Diamond ranked game that just breaks your brain. Picked it up December 2019 when the Sugar Rush line dropped and its been in my rotation ever since. The whole candy theme shouldnt work for a demolitionist but somehow it does.

Candy explosions and what actually changes

So the VFX on this skin carry hard. Ziggs Q throws what looks like a wrapped candy ball that bounces with these bright sugar particle trails. Satisfying to poke with in lane. The W is a candy land mine with frosting splatter on detonation, and honestly the animation reads cleaner than most of his other skins. You can see the hitbox better which matters when you’re trying to peel for your ADC.

E scatters little gumdrops across the ground. Played maybe 40 games last month spamming this in ranked and the minefield zone control feels visually distinct from base. Teammates and enemies both react to it faster I think because the bright colors just pop against the Rift.

The ult though. Real talk. Ziggs R drops this massive candy bomb across the map and the explosion is a burst of sprinkles and frosting. Used it to steal dragon last Tuesday in a game where my jungler was AFK farming top side. The impact zone reads well and the color contrast against the dragon pit is clean. New recall animation too where Ziggs builds a little gingerbread house then blows it up. Classic Ziggs behavior.

Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Standard for a 1350 RP Epic. The sound effects on abilities got the candy treatment though and they’re crisp enough that you dont miss the voice filter.

The Sugar Rush line and who made this

Sugar Rush released December 17, 2019. Late season 9 into preseason 10. Xiao Guang Sun and West Studio handled the artwork, they captured the holiday candy vibe without making it look like a Christmas skin specifically. Smart move by Riot because it means the skin doesnt feel seasonal.

The Sugar Rush skinline includes Braum, Evelynn, and Zilean among others. Ziggs fits the theme naturally because his kit is already about throwing projectiles and blowing things up. Swap bombs for candy and the fantasy works. (Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I use this skin because the sound effects “give him a headache” but I think he’s just tilted from the Catseye chroma being too bright.)

8 chromas total for Sugar Rush Ziggs. Meteorite is my go-to, the dark chocolate brown palette looks clean and reads more serious if you want the candy theme toned down. Sweet Tooth hits different with that pink and teal combo, been running it in normals when I want to tilt the enemy laner. Ruby exists for the red candy apple look but I skip it usually.

Is Sugar Rush Ziggs worth 1350 RP?

Okay, the real question. For Ziggs mains this is a strong pickup. Could be wrong here but I think it’s top three Ziggs skins. The VFX are distinct, the theme commits fully, and the chromas give you variety for months. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get considering the full VFX overhaul and recall animation.

If you’re choosing between this and Master Arcanist or Battle Boss, Sugar Rush wins on personality. Master Arcanist is the “clean” option and Battle Boss has the arcade nostalgia but Sugar Rush Ziggs just has more character. Been maining Ziggs with this skin since season 10 on and off. The candy explosions never get old in teamfights especially when you’re sieging and spamming Q on the backline.

Shop has it permanently so no rush. Grab it next time Ziggs is in your ranked rotation or if you’re a one-trick looking for something that stands out in loading screen. Skip if you already own Hextech Ziggs though because at that point you’re just collecting. For everyone else, 1350 RP well spent for mains.
