Sugar Rush Skins

Sugar Rush is Riot's candy-themed skinline and honestly its one of those lines that shouldn't work but kind of does. The whole concept is turning champions into walking desserts, gingerbread nightmares, and candy cane wielders. Sounds goofy on paper. In practice the skins range from genuinely creative to "why does this exist" territory, which I think is part of the charm. Been seeing these pop up in my ranked games since around 2012 and every time someone locks in Candy King Ivern or Sugar Rush Braum I know that player has a specific vibe going on. Eight skins total spanning almost a decade of releases, from 975 to 1350 RP, and the line leans hard into holiday sweetness without ever taking itself seriously.

What Makes the Sugar Rush Line Stand Out
Not gonna lie, the visual identity of Sugar Rush is stronger than people give it credit for. Every skin in the line commits fully to the candy aesthetic. We're talking frosting particle effects, gumball projectiles, peppermint shields, lollipop weapons. The color palette is aggressive pastels and bright primaries: pinks, greens, reds, whites. Feels like someone dropped the Rift into a Candy Land board game. Gaudy? Sure. Memorable? Absolutely.
The splash arts across the line share this warm bakery glow that ties everything together. Sugar Rush Braum standing in front of what looks like a gingerbread fortress. Candy King Ivern surrounded by his candy minions. There's a cohesion here that some of Riot's more "serious" skinlines actually lack. Kinda feels like the art team had genuine fun with these instead of designing by committee.
What separates Sugar Rush from something like the Cafe Cuties line is commitment to absurdity. Cafe Cuties plays it cute and safe. Sugar Rush goes full cartoon. Ziggs literally throws candy bombs. Evelynn's lashers become candy canes. Fiddlesticks is a gingerbread scarecrow. The transformations are total, not just palette swaps with a theme sticker on top. For Epic tier skins at 1350 RP, the particle work is solid across the board.
(Random aside: I used to think food-themed skins were the worst category in League until I actually played against a Sugar Rush Zilean who styled on our whole team in a Diamond 3 game last December. Hard to be mad when you're getting time-bombed by a candy wizard.)
The older skins in the line, the Standard tier ones, obviously show their age. Lollipoppy and Bittersweet Lulu were 975 RP releases from 2010-2013 and they look like it. No custom particles, no new animations, just model swaps with candy textures. But thats part of the legacy charm. The 2019 batch with Zilean, Evelynn, Ziggs, and Braum brought the line into the modern era with full VFX overhauls.
Best Sugar Rush Skins Worth Your RP
Straight talk, Candy King Ivern is the crown jewel. Full stop. The skin turns Daisy into a giant candy golem, Ivern's brush becomes candy cane forests, and the whole package just fits Ivern's whimsical personality perfectly. Been running this in ranked since season 10 I think, and every time I jungle with Ivern this is the only skin that feels right. The recall animation alone is worth the 1350 RP. Ivern mains know exactly what I'm talking about.
Sugar Rush Braum is a close second. Braum's shield becomes this massive peppermint candy barrier and his Q throws what looks like a frozen treat. The passive proc marks appear as little candy stamps on enemies. Clean execution. Played maybe 40 games of Braum support with this skin during preseason and it never got old. The splash art is genuinely one of my favorites in the game, Braum looking heroic in front of a candy kingdom like he's defending the last gingerbread house on the Rift.
Sugar Rush Evelynn is the sleeper pick of the line. Could be wrong here but I think this is actually Evelynn's most underrated skin. The charm hearts become candy hearts, her W mark is a lollipop, and her ult has this satisfying candy explosion VFX. In a champion pool dominated by KDA and Coven, Sugar Rush brings something completely different. Locked this in for a week straight in solo queue around February 2024 and got compliments in all chat twice. Rare for a skin.
Sugar Rush Ziggs does exactly what you'd expect. Bombs become candy. Satchel charge is a gift box. His ult drops a massive candy bomb. Its the most straightforward execution in the line but Ziggs mains who want something lighthearted should consider it. Not his best skin overall but top three easily.
Sugar Rush Zilean rounds out the Epic tier with custom time bombs that look like wrapped presents and a recall where he sits in a candy sleigh. Solid skin. Not spectacular. The particles read clearly in teamfights which matters more than people think when you're trying to land double bombs on a diving assassin at 2 AM on a Tuesday night.
The Champion Roster and Thematic Fit
Eight champions in Sugar Rush and the roster is surprisingly well-curated. Not every champion would work dipped in frosting and Riot mostly picked the right ones here. Might be overthinking it but I think the line works best on champions who already have a playful or eccentric personality.
Ivern is the most natural fit. Champion is literally a tree hippie who loves nature and being weird. Candy theme? Perfect match. Braum works because his whole identity is wholesome and protective, and there's something funny about a giant man defending you with a peppermint shield. These two were made for this line.
Evelynn is the interesting outlier. She's supposed to be this seductive demon assassin and putting her in a candy skin sounds wrong on paper. But it works because it leans into the "temptation" angle. Candy as bait. Smart design choice honestly. Ziggs and Zilean fit because they're both inherently silly champions. Bombs becoming candy is obvious but effective.
The legacy roster tells a different story. Fiddlesticks as Dark Candy is genuinely creepy in a gingerbread way. Scarecrow made of cookies. Works for the horror-meets-holiday vibe. Lollipoppy is iconic for all the wrong reasons if you remember the old splash art. Nightmare fuel. Bittersweet Lulu is fine, cute but forgettable among her other skins.
Who's missing? Real talk though, I think Teemo would be an obvious add. Veigar too. Maybe Nunu and Willump where Willump becomes a candy yeti. Riot hasnt touched Sugar Rush since 2019 which is a shame because the line has more potential. (Sidebar: imagine Sugar Rush Bard where his chimes are candy pieces scattered across the map. Someone at Riot please.)
Tier Breakdown and Value Assessment
Sugar Rush splits into two eras. The early skins from 2010-2013 are all Standard tier at 975 RP: Dark Candy Fiddlesticks, Lollipoppy, Bittersweet Lulu. Model changes only, no custom particles or animations beyond what 975 RP got you back then. They show their age. Still have a nostalgic charm but you're buying them for the meme factor, not the quality.
The 2019 wave brought five Epic skins at 1350 RP each. Zilean, Evelynn, Ziggs, Braum, and Candy King Ivern. Full particle overhauls, custom recalls, new SFX. This is where the line actually became competitive. 1350 RP for these is fair pricing. Nothing feels overpriced, nothing feels like it should have been Legendary. The Epic tier carries this skinline hard.
No Legendaries in the set. No Mythics. No Prestige editions. Sugar Rush stays in its lane and honestly thats fine. Not every skinline needs a 1820 RP anchor. The consistency across the five Epics is more valuable than one standout Legendary would be. Voice lines stay base across all eight skins which is expected at these price points.
Total investment if you wanted every Sugar Rush skin: around 9,225 RP give or take. Not cheap but not the worst collection to complete. Been slowly picking these up over seasons whenever they show up in My Shop rotations. Got Sugar Rush Braum at 60% off during a sale back in season 12. Worth every discounted RP.
Maybe just my experience but I think the 2019 batch holds up better than a lot of Epic skins from the same year. The candy VFX are distinct enough that they dont blend into the visual noise of modern League. When a Sugar Rush Ziggs ult lands in a teamfight you know exactly what hit you. Clarity matters when you're climbing through Diamond and every teamfight read counts.
Sugar Rush Skinline FAQ
How many Sugar Rush skins are there?
Eight skins total in the Sugar Rush line. Three older Standard tier ones from 2010-2013 and five Epic tier skins that dropped in 2019. The 2019 batch is the real meat of the collection. Riot hasnt added any new ones since then which is kinda disappointing because the line had momentum going.
What is the best Sugar Rush skin?
Candy King Ivern. Not even close in my opinion. The Daisy transformation, the candy brush, the recall animation. Everything clicks. Sugar Rush Braum is second, mostly because the peppermint shield and passive candy stamps are so clean. Been spamming both in ranked and Ivern's skin just feels more complete as a package.
Which champions have Sugar Rush skins?
Fiddlesticks, Zilean, Evelynn, Poppy, Ziggs, Lulu, Braum, and Ivern. Solid mix of supports, mages, and one assassin. The roster leans toward champions with playful personalities which makes sense for a candy theme. Could use a few more additions honestly but Riot seems to have moved on from the line.
Does Sugar Rush have Legendary skins?
No Legendaries in the Sugar Rush line. Everything tops out at Epic tier for 1350 RP. The five Epic skins from 2019 are solid though, full particle overhauls and custom recalls. Think the line works fine without a Legendary honestly. A Sugar Rush Legendary Ivern with new voice lines would be incredible but it doesnt exist yet.
When did the Sugar Rush skinline release?
First Sugar Rush skin dropped back in 2010 with the Standard tier releases. The line got its major expansion in 2019 when Riot dropped five Epic skins at once. So the line spans almost a decade of releases. The 2019 batch is where the quality jumped up significantly compared to those early 975 RP models.
Are Sugar Rush skins worth buying?
The 2019 Epic skins are worth it if you play those champions. 1350 RP each with full VFX and clean execution. Candy King Ivern and Sugar Rush Braum are standouts. The older 975 RP skins are harder to recommend unless you want them for nostalgia. Skip Lollipoppy unless you're collecting cursed skins on purpose.
Do Sugar Rush skins have chromas?
Some of the 2019 Epic skins have chroma options. Check the individual skin pages for exact counts and color variants. The chromas mostly play with different candy color palettes which works well for the theme. Ruby and Obsidian variants exist for several of them if you want a darker take on the candy look.
Will Riot make more Sugar Rush skins?
Could be wrong here but I dont think Sugar Rush is getting new additions anytime soon. Last release was 2019 and Riot's been focused on bigger event lines like Faerie Court and Heavenscale. The line is complete enough to stand on its own though. Would love to see Sugar Rush Bard or Teemo but not holding my breath on it.
