First time I saw Soulstealer Vayne load into my game was season 7 I think, maybe late season 6. Enemy ADC locked in Vayne and that green spectral glow hit the loading screen. Stopped me cold. Not gonna lie, I spent the next two weeks figuring out how to get this skin because back then it was gemstone exclusive and I had exactly zero gemstones to my name. Took me months of grinding event passes before I finally rolled enough to craft it.
The spectral glow and what Soulstealer actually changes
Vayne’s base kit is all about precision and clean auto-attack weaving. Soulstealer Vayne takes that identity and wraps it in this ethereal green soul-collector fantasy. The VFX overhaul is where the skin earns its keep. Every Silver Bolts proc lights up with this ghostly green ring, and the third hit pop feels crunchier than base. Might be placebo but I swear my cs improved the first week I used it.
Q tumble leaves behind a faint trail of soul energy. Subtle change but it reads well in teamfights when you’re repositioning around the backline. The E condemn bolt got the green treatment too, and pinning someone against a wall with that spectral bolt just hits different. Felt it hard last Friday around midnight when I condemned a fed Zed into dragon pit wall. Chef’s kiss moment.
The recall animation is where Riot put extra love. Vayne channels souls into her crossbow, this swirling vortex of green energy pulling inward. Clean animation, not overdone. Voice lines stay base though, no new VO. For a Mythic tier skin from 2016 thats honestly expected. Riot wasnt doing custom voice work on these gemstone exclusives back then.
Splash art wise, Esben Lash Rasmussen nailed the splash. Vayne standing in what looks like a corrupted cathedral, souls swirling around her. The color palette is tight. Green, black, silver. No visual noise.
Soulstealer line, release context, and those chromas
Soulstealer Vayne dropped July 28, 2016. Deep into season 6. The Soulstealer skinline was Riot’s way of making gemstone skins feel exclusive, and for a while it worked. Vayne was one of the earliest entries in the line alongside Soulstealer Vladimir.
Being a Mythic skin means you cant just buy Soulstealer Vayne with RP. Special pricing through Mythic Essence crafting. Available now through the Mythic shop rotation, which is way more accessible than the old gemstone system. Been maining Vayne with this skin on and off since season 8 and the exclusivity factor has definitely dropped, but the skin quality hasnt.
2 chromas exist now. First Decennial swaps the green palette for this gold and dark combo. Looks regal, almost prestige-adjacent. Tenfold Triumph goes red and gold, which reads more aggressive in lane. (Random aside: the red chroma on Vayne makes her look like she belongs in a Blood Moon skinline instead.) I personally run First Decennial more because the gold particles against the Rift’s greens pop harder than the base green-on-green.
Soulstealer Vayne in ranked and who should craft it
Real talk though. Playing this skin in Diamond, there’s a psychological edge. People see Mythic skins and assume you’re either a one-trick or someone who’s been playing long enough to have stacked gemstones. Neither is bad for your lane prio. Spammed this in Diamond for maybe 40 games last month and the amount of respect bans I got on Vayne went up. Could be coincidence. Could be the skin doing work.
The VFX clarity is genuinely good for gameplay. Silver Bolts tracking is clean, tumble repositioning reads well, and the condemn bolt visibility helps you confirm pins in chaotic teamfights where the backline is getting dove. For an ADC skin, visual clarity matters more than flashiness, and Soulstealer Vayne threads that needle.
Verdict time. Soulstealer Vayne is a strong Mythic tier skin that holds up well for something released in 2016. The green soul aesthetic is unique in Vayne’s roster. No other Vayne skin occupies that dark spectral fantasy. PROJECT Vayne goes sci-fi, Spirit Blossom goes ethereal-pretty, Dragonslayer goes fantasy. Soulstealer sits alone in the “edgy supernatural hunter” space.
Could be wrong here but I think this is a top three Vayne skin. Not the flashiest, not the most loaded with features. But the cohesion between theme, VFX, and splash is tight. If you main Vayne and have the Mythic Essence sitting around, this is worth the craft. Skip it if you already own Spirit Blossom or PROJECT though, those skins offer more raw content for the investment. For Vayne one-tricks who want everything? Lock it in. The First Decennial chroma alone makes the craft feel justified.
Season after season, keep coming back to this skin. Eight years old and it still holds. Banger.
