Primordian Rek'Sai - Splash, Price & Chromas

First time I saw the Primordian Rek’Sai splash loading in, I thought Riot finally gave the void queen the cosmic horror treatment she deserved. Not gonna lie, the prehistoric alien vibe caught me off guard. Rek’Sai doesn’t get skins often, so when one drops you pay attention. Locked this in immediately on patch day, July 2024, and took it straight into Diamond ranked.

How Primordian changes Rek’Sai in game

The model rework here is solid for an Epic tier skin. Rek’Sai looks like she crawled out of some primordial ooze dimension, all bioluminescent plating and ancient organic armor. The color palette leans into deep greens and blacks with these pulsing energy veins running through her body. Completely different silhouette feel from base Rek’Sai.

New VFX across the board. Her Q in unburrowed form leaves these rippling energy trails that actually read cleaner than base in teamfights. Could be wrong here but I think the burrowed Q tremor sense indicators got a visual bump too, the sonar pulses have this ancient runic look to them. W knockup eruption is the highlight for me. Big primordial energy burst when you unburrow on someone, very satisfying when you hit it on the enemy ADC in a gank.

E tunnel entrances glow with that same bioluminescent green. Honestly its one of those details you dont notice until you’re splitpushing and see your tunnel network lit up across the map. Looks clean. The recall animation is new and fits the Primordian theme, she does this whole primal roar sequence that sells the fantasy.

Voice lines stay base. Standard for 1350 RP on a champion like Rek’Sai who communicates mostly through screeches anyway. No VO refresh needed here, the base sounds work fine with the aesthetic.

The Primordian line and release context

Primordian Rek’Sai dropped July 17, 2024. Mid-season 14. Francis Tneh and West Studio handled the artwork, they captured something genuinely unsettling with the splash. Rek’Sai emerging from this ancient void-like dimension, all teeth and primordial rage.

The Primordian skinline is one of Riot’s weirder thematic experiments. Prehistoric meets cosmic horror meets organic alien tech. Rek’Sai fits it naturally, maybe better than any other champion in the set. She’s already a void creature that burrows underground, so the primordial ancient predator angle just works. Been running this in my Diamond games since release and I think it reads better than Blackfrost or Elderwood on the Rift specifically in river fights where the green VFX pop against the terrain.

9 chromas total. Obsidian is my pick, the dark colorway makes Rek’Sai look genuinely menacing during jungle clear. Amethyst hits different too, purple void energy on a burrowing predator feels right. Rainbow is there if you want something flashy but kinda feels like it clashes with the whole ancient horror vibe (random aside: my duo partner uses Rainbow exclusively and I judge him for it every game). Shop has it at 1350 RP, permanent availability.

Should you pick up Primordian Rek’Sai?

Real verdict: if you main Rek’Sai, this is top two for her skin catalog. Maybe just my experience but the VFX clarity on Q and W actually helped me track ability cooldowns better in chaotic late-game teamfights around dragon pit last week. Played maybe 200 games with this skin across two patches and keep coming back to it over Elderwood.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX, new recall, strong model. Rek’Sai mains dont have a massive selection to choose from anyway, so a quality Epic like this stands out. The Primordian theme gives her more personality than half her other options. Skip it if you already own Blackfrost and only play Rek’Sai occasionally, but for anyone who jungles with her regularly in ranked? Worth the lock-in. Been spamming this in Diamond since around season 14 split 2 and I think its the best Rek’Sai skin for competitive play. Not the flashiest, but the cleanest. That matters more when you’re tracking four enemies through burrowed vision at 2 AM on a Tuesday.
