Prestige Obsidian Dragon Sett

First time I saw Prestige Obsidian Dragon Sett load into a game I had to double take. Season 10, maybe three weeks after it dropped, some dude in my Diamond promos locks in Sett top and this golden dragon monstrosity shows up on the loading screen. Genuinely thought it was a different champion for a second. That kind of visual presence is rare for a Prestige variant.

The golden dragon treatment

So the base Obsidian Dragon Sett already goes hard with the dark draconic aesthetic. The Prestige version takes that entire concept and dips it in molten gold. Not gonna lie, it works way better than most Prestige skins that just slap a yellow filter on the base and call it a day. Sett’s model gets a full white-and-gold recolor with these intricate dragon scale patterns running across his arms and chest. The hair goes platinum blonde which reads clean against the Rift background.

VFX is where the skin earns its keep. Every ability pops with this warm golden particle effect. His Q punches trail these bright amber sparks that feel heavier than base. W is the real showstopper though. The Haymaker grit shield builds up with swirling gold energy and the true damage center zone lights up like a furnace. Been running this in Diamond for a while now and the W zone is actually easier to read for me compared to some other Sett skins where the hitbox feels visually unclear.

E pulls enemies together with golden dragon claw effects. Simple change – huge impact on how satisfying the ability feels. His R, the big slam, gets this massive gold shockwave on impact. Kinda feels like you’re suplexing someone into a pile of treasure. Three things stood out after maybe 40 games with this skin: the W VFX clarity, the recall animation, and how the auto attacks feel slightly more responsive (placebo probably but I’ll take it).

The recall animation has Sett doing this dragon-energy meditation pose with golden flames spiraling around him. Its cool but nothing groundbreaking for a Prestige skin. Voice lines stay base, no new VO which is expected at this tier. Xander Mobus did the original voice work and honestly Sett’s base lines are strong enough that you dont miss having new ones.

Dragonmancers line and release context

Prestige Obsidian Dragon Sett released October 1, 2020. Right in the middle of season 10 when Sett was still relatively fresh as a champion, less than a year old. The Dragonmancers skinline was building out that patch cycle and Sett fit the bruiser dragon fantasy naturally.

Sanhua Chen and Kudos Productions handled the splash artwork. They captured this regal golden dragon lord vibe that honestly looks better as a phone wallpaper than the base Obsidian version. (Random aside: I actually did use this splash as my desktop background for like two months straight.) The composition puts Sett front and center with these massive golden dragon wings framing the whole piece. Kudos Productions put in the work here.

No chromas on this one which makes sense for a Prestige skin. The whole point is the exclusive color scheme. This is a Mythic tier skin so you’re not buying it off the shelf for RP. Back in 2020 you needed Prestige Points to grab it, now it sits in the Mythic Essence shop on rotation. Available through the Mythic shop when it cycles in, so you gotta watch for the rotation.

How it plays in ranked

Took this into ranked for about two weeks straight last season around November. Sett top into most matchups, some mid games when I got autofilled. The skin feels good in lane. The golden particles on Q-empowered autos give solid visual feedback when you’re trading in lane, especially short trades where you Q, auto twice, and back off. Could be wrong here but the auto attack animation feels slightly smoother than default Sett. Probably just the VFX making it feel that way.

In teamfights the W is genuinely easier to land with this skin. The gold zone against the Rift’s green and grey terrain pops hard. Had this one game last Tuesday where I flanked through dragon pit, ulted their Jinx into the backline, and the golden explosion actually made my support type “that looked sick” in chat. Small moments like that.

Spammed this in Diamond for most of season 13 and it never got old visually. That says something because I rotate skins constantly. Most Prestige skins I use for a week then go back to the base or a different skin entirely. This one stuck.

The honest take

Should you grind Mythic Essence for Prestige Obsidian Dragon Sett? If you main Sett, absolutely. Top pick for Sett mains who want something flashier than the standard shop options. The golden aesthetic is executed well, the VFX changes are noticeable without being distracting, and it holds up years after release.

If you’re not a Sett player though, skip it. Mythic Essence is too valuable to spend on a champion you play once every 30 games. The base Obsidian Dragon Sett at 1350 RP gives you like 80% of the fantasy for way less investment. Real talk though, for one-tricks and Sett mains who’ve been climbing with the boss since release, this Prestige version is arguably the best Sett skin. The golden VFX on W alone justify it. Not sure if it’s just me but every time I see another Sett in my games running the default or Pool Party, I feel like the Prestige just hits different. Season 10 was peak Sett gameplay and this skin captures that energy perfectly.
