Lagoon Dragon Kai'Sa - Splash, Price & Chromas

First game I played with Lagoon Dragon Kai’Sa was sometime around midnight, season 11. Locked her in for a ranked game on a whim after buying the bundle. The loading screen splash hit different. West Studio delivered on the splash, the water dragon aesthetic wrapped around Kai’Sa in a way that actually made me double-take. Not the reaction I expected from an Epic tier skin honestly.

What Lagoon Dragon Kai’Sa actually brings

The VFX overhaul is where this skin earns its 1350 RP. Kai’Sa’s Q missiles trail with this teal-green aquatic energy that reads super clean in teamfights. Been running this in Diamond for a while now and I can tell you the Q particles dont clutter your screen the way some other Kai’Sa skins do. Big deal for an ADC who needs to track positioning in the backline.

W is the standout ability for me. The Void Seeker projectile comes out with this serpentine water trail. Feels faster even though it isnt. Could be wrong here but I think the animation just reads more aggressively than base. Hit a Thresh with it through dragon pit last week and the visual impact was satisfying.

E evolve looks great. The movement burst gets a water splash effect that feels like you’re surfing through the lane. Recall animation is new too, Kai’Sa does this whole dragon summoning sequence. Clean work.

Voice lines stay base. No new VO which is expected at this price point. Standard for Epic skins.

The Dragonmancers line and release context

Lagoon Dragon Kai’Sa dropped October 21, 2021. Late into season 11 if I remember right. The Dragonmancers skinline was Riot’s attempt at expanding the dragon fantasy beyond just Dragonslayer and Dragon Trainer. Kinda feels like they nailed the water dragon niche with this one specifically.

West Studio handled the artwork and the splash piece captures the vibe perfectly. Kai’Sa surrounded by that lagoon dragon energy, the composition pulls your eye to the suit integration with the water motif. (Random aside: this splash rotated as my desktop wallpaper for like three months straight.)

The Dragonmancers set has a bunch of champions but Kai’Sa fits naturally into it. The Void suit lore translates well into dragon armor. Makes more sense than some of the other picks in the line.

9 chromas total for this one. Emberclaw is the sleeper pick, that dark purple-red combo looks menacing in game. Tanzanite goes deep violet which reads almost Void-like, pulling Kai’Sa back toward her base fantasy. Pearl is fine if you want the clean white aesthetic but honestly I keep coming back to Emberclaw. Shop has it at 1350 RP, permanent availability so no rush.

How it stacks against other Kai’Sa skins

Real talk though. Kai’Sa has a stacked skin lineup. K/DA and K/DA ALL OUT exist. Star Guardian exists. Bullet Angel exists. Where does Lagoon Dragon Kai’Sa land in that lineup?

Mid-to-high tier. Solid answer. Not gonna lie, if you already own K/DA ALL OUT you might not feel the need. But if you’re a Kai’Sa main who wants variety in your rotation, this skin earns a spot. The VFX clarity alone makes it worth considering for ranked. Played maybe 200 games with this and the particle readability never bothered me once, which is more than I can say for Arcade Kai’Sa.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across all abilities, solid recall, strong splash. Missing new voice lines keeps it from competing with Legendaries obviously but thats the tier. For Kai’Sa mains who grind bot lane and want something that looks clean without being distracting in lane, Lagoon Dragon Kai’Sa is a strong pickup. Not the best Kai’Sa skin full stop, but top three for ranked readability. Been maining Kai’Sa with this skin on and off since season 12 and it holds up. Skip it if you only play ARAM, grab it if you’re climbing with Kai’Sa in solo queue this season.
