First time I saw Nightblade Irelia was back in like season 2 or 3, cant remember exactly. Someone on the enemy team locked it in and I had no idea what champion I was even looking at for the first few seconds. The dark purple and black palette shifts Irelia’s whole vibe from Ionian warrior to something closer to an assassin. Caught me off guard. Still does sometimes in low visibility fights around dragon pit.

What Nightblade actually changes on Irelia

This is a 520 RP Standard tier skin, so temper expectations. You get a full model swap with darker armor plating and that signature purple-black color scheme across Irelia’s blades. The floating blades themselves take on this shadowy metallic look that reads well against the Rift, especially on Summoner’s Rift at night. There’s some VFX adjustments too which is honestly surprising for the price point.

Not gonna lie, the Q resets in teamfights look cleaner with the darker blade trail. Might be placebo. Probably is. But when you’re dashing through the backline resetting Q on marked targets, the visual clarity feels slightly better than base Irelia. Her W channel has that dark tint to it. E marks land and you can see the setup for the stun pretty clearly.

Voice lines stay base. No new recall animation either. You’re getting a model and color swap with minor VFX touches, and for 520 RP thats about right. Been running this in Diamond games when I want something different from the flashier Irelia skins and honestly it holds up. Simple change – huge impact on how the champion reads.

The Legacy line and Nightblade’s history

Nightblade Irelia dropped November 16, 2010. Early League days. Pre-rework Irelia was a different beast entirely, point and click Q with that old passive. The skin survived the full VGU and came out looking better for it. Choe HeonHwa handled the splash artwork and it captures the ninja-assassin fantasy pretty well for the era.

Part of the Legacy skinline which puts it in a weird spot. Shop has it available but it shares that Legacy tag with a bunch of other early skins. No chromas on this one. Zero. (Random aside: I actually have this skin on two accounts because I rerolled into it on my alt around season 9 I think or 10 dont remember and just kept it.)

Irelia mains who’ve been around since before the rework probably have this one already. For newer players climbing through ranked, it flies under the radar compared to stuff like Divine Sword or PROJECT. Seen maybe 4 of these in my games all season and two were the same person.

Should you pick up Nightblade Irelia?

Real verdict: for 520 RP this is solid. Not spectacular, not trying to be. You know what surprised me? How well the darker palette works with Irelia’s post-rework animations. The blade dance during ult pops with that shadow aesthetic. Could be wrong here but I think this is the best budget Irelia skin if you dont want to drop 1350 or more.

Skip it if you already own Frostblade or Divine Sword Irelia. Those are just better packages with more features. But if you’re an Irelia one-trick who wants variety in the rotation without spending big, Nightblade earns its spot. 520 RP feels fair for what you get. Been daily driving this one on and off since last Tuesday around 2 AM when I got bored of Spirit Blossom mid-session. The dark blades in lane just hit different during those pre-6 trades in top lane specifically.

Worth 520 RP if you main Irelia. Clean skin, no fluff, does the job.
