Tristana ARAM Build and Guide

Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.

A Tristana ARAM build turns her into a long-range turret: Kraken Slayer, Infinity Edge, Phantom Dancer and The Collector, on Berserker’s Greaves. Draw a Bead keeps stretching her range, and Rocket Jump resets her position whenever a diver reaches her. Riot even nudges her upward on this map, with damage dealt set to 105% and damage taken trimmed to 95%.

Every pick traces back to her patch 26.21 kit, not to a win-rate site.

How is Tristana changed in ARAM?

ARAM modifier Tristana
Damage dealt 105%
Damage taken 95%

Two buffs (small ones). She hits 5% harder and takes 5% less. Why help her? Tristana’s best tool on Summoner’s Rift is a lane she can control and a jungle to escape into, and the Abyss gives her neither. Her range still scales, but every enemy can see her, and divers have a straight line to reach her. The small buffs make her a bit more forgiving to play from the back line (and, honestly, a bit more fun).

Why does Tristana work on the Howling Abyss?

Range wins poke wars, and her range keeps growing. Her patch 26.21 kit:

  • Draw a Bead (passive): more Attack Range with every level.
  • Rapid Fire (Q): a burst of Attack Speed for a short time. Cooldown 20/19/18/17/16.
  • Rocket Jump (W): a jump to a distant spot that damages and briefly slows where she lands. Cooldown 22/20/18/16/14.
  • Explosive Charge (E): shrapnel bursts on kills, plus an active bomb that explodes on a target after a short delay. Cooldown 16/15.5/15/14.5/14.
  • Buster Shot (R): a magic damage cannonball that knocks the target back, doubling the bomb’s radius if it’s attached. Cooldown 100.

ARAM games start at a higher level than a fresh Summoner’s Rift lane, and they level up fast, so Draw a Bead’s extra range shows up quickly. From behind her front line, she can hit the enemy tanks and anyone standing near them. Explosive Charge on a tank in a clump hurts everyone around it, and Buster Shot on that same tank doubles the bomb’s radius. Then there’s Rocket Jump: on a narrow bridge, it’s an escape that clears a diver in one press. What’s the catch? She’s still a marksman, so getting caught means dying.

What should a Tristana ARAM build focus on?

Attack Speed and crit. Her range keeps her safe, so the build can stay greedy.

Kraken Slayer comes first. Bring It Down makes every third attack deal bonus physical damage, more against targets missing Health, and Rapid Fire’s Attack Speed burst gets those third hits out quickly. Look, the 40% Attack Speed alone makes it a natural first buy on her.

Infinity Edge is second, for the Critical Strike Damage bonus of 30% on top of its Attack Damage. Crits plus Draw a Bead range make her damage from safety very high.

Phantom Dancer third. Spectral Waltz makes her Ghosted, so she can move through units while repositioning, and it adds 25% Critical Strike Chance and 10% Move Speed. In a crowded corridor, walking through minions is worth more than it sounds (ask anyone who got body-blocked).

The Collector finishes the build. Its execute finishes anyone who drops under 5% Health, and each champion kill pays 25 extra gold (nice when every shopping trip starts with a death). Berserker’s Greaves bring 30% Attack Speed.

How do you play Tristana on the Howling Abyss?

  • Bomb the tank in the clump. Explosive Charge damages surrounding units when it explodes.
  • Save Rocket Jump for escape unless a kill is certain. It’s her only mobility.
  • Use Buster Shot defensively. It knocks the target back, so a diver on top of you gets sent away.
  • Fire Buster Shot on a bombed target to double the bomb’s radius for team damage.
  • Stay behind your tanks and let Draw a Bead’s range do the work.

How do no-recall shopping and Mark change the plan?

Gold is only spent at the fountain after you die. Kraken Slayer at 3,000 gold is the first target, and Berserker’s Greaves are a good early purchase if you can’t afford it yet. She has no healing of her own, so health relics on the lane are her only way to recover between fights.

The Mark snowball, when it lands, gives you a dash onto that champion. Your summoner choice stays for the whole game. On Tristana, Mark is a weak pick: she already has Rocket Jump to go in, and a second dash toward enemies doesn’t fit a marksman. Flash is safer. In practice, Rocket Jump plus Flash gives her two escapes, which is what she needs most.

Is Tristana a strong pick on the Howling Abyss?

Yes. The 105% damage dealt and 95% damage taken buffs help, her range scales well with ARAM’s fast levels, and Rocket Jump plus Buster Shot give her two ways out of a dive. Teams with lots of long-range engage can still catch her.

Laning against her on the Rift? See the Tristana counters guide. The items database for League has the full stats for everything here, and the Tristana skins page has her outfits.

Long story short, the Tristana ARAM build is Kraken Slayer, Infinity Edge, Phantom Dancer and The Collector on Berserker’s Greaves, played from behind the front line with Rocket Jump saved for escapes.
