Kalista ARAM Build and Guide

Updated for patch 26.21. Ability text comes from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.

A Kalista ARAM build stacks on-hit damage: Blade of The Ruined King first, Guinsoo’s Rageblade second, then Runaan’s Hurricane and Guardian Angel on Berserker’s Greaves. Riot buffs her on the Howling Abyss with 110% damage dealt and 90% damage taken, so she hits harder and dies a little slower than on Summoner’s Rift.

These picks follow her patch 26.21 ability text and the item descriptions; no win-rate data went into them.

Why is Kalista buffed in ARAM?

ARAM modifier Kalista
Damage dealt 110%
Damage taken 90%

Space is the issue. Kalista’s whole style is hopping between attacks, and the Howling Abyss is one narrow lane where the enemy team stands in front of her all game, with poke flying from every angle. Riot compensates on both lines: 110% damage dealt and 90% damage taken. It’s a decent package for a marksman (honestly, the damage taken buff matters more, since she has no dash that isn’t tied to an attack).

How does Kalista’s kit work on one lane?

Her abilities per Riot’s patch 26.21 data:

  • Martial Poise (passive): giving a move order during an attack or Pierce wind-up makes her lunge a short distance when it fires.
  • Pierce (Q): a fast spear that keeps going through enemies it kills. Cooldown 9.
  • Sentinel (W): extra damage when she and her Oathsworn hit the same target; the active scouts a path. Cooldown 30.
  • Rend (E): attacks leave spears; activation tears them out for a slow and damage that escalates per spear.
  • Fate’s Call (R): pulls her Oathsworn to her side, then lets that ally dash to a spot and knock enemy champions back. Cooldown 160/140/120.

Rend is the reason she works in ARAM. Spears stick to every target she attacks, and when a fight is five against five in a tight space, she spreads them across the front line and pops several at once for a big area slow. Pierce helps too: in a wave clear, it passes through every minion it kills. What about Fate’s Call? It depends entirely on who the Oathsworn is. A tank with a knock-up turns it into an engage, while a squishy ally mostly uses it as a rescue.

What is the best Kalista ARAM build?

Every Kalista ARAM item below does one of two jobs: it adds on-hit damage, or it keeps her alive long enough to keep attacking (four items plus boots in total).

Blade of The Ruined King goes first. Mist’s Edge adds a share of the enemy’s current Health to each attack, which is great against the tanks ARAM teams stack up front, and Clawing Shadows slows by 30% after three attacks on a champion. The 10% Life Steal also gives back some of the poke damage she can’t dodge.

Guinsoo’s Rageblade second. Seething Strike stacks Attack Speed, and once fully stacked, every third attack applies on-hit effects twice. Wrath adds 30 magic damage on-hit, a nice mixed-damage touch against Armor stackers.

Third, Runaan’s Hurricane. Wind’s Fury fires bolts at 2 more enemies near her target, each applying on-hit effects, and enemies on this map stand closer together than anywhere else. Guardian Angel rounds things off: Rebirth restores her after 4 seconds of Stasis when she takes lethal damage, and the 45 Armor isn’t wasted either.

Boots? Berserker’s Greaves, for 30% Attack Speed. Sure, Plated Steelcaps work if the enemy team is all attackers.

How should Kalista kite in teamfights?

  • Spread spears before you Rend. More targets carrying spears means a wider slow when you activate it.
  • Hop backward between attacks. Martial Poise rewards kiting away, not chasing.
  • Clear waves with Pierce. It continues through each minion it kills.
  • Save Fate’s Call for a dive on you or an engage from your Oathsworn. At 160 seconds on rank 1, it’s a once-per-fight tool.
  • Grab health relics after trades. There’s no recall to heal.

What about Kalista’s summoner spells and fountain trips?

Spells lock before loading and can’t be changed. Flash is the standard choice for a marksman without a real dash. Mark is tempting but risky here, since a snowball hit dashes her toward the enemy, the opposite of where she wants to be. Real talk, defensive picks suit her better than any engage tool.

For your Kalista ARAM shopping, the first respawn is the moment to complete Blade of The Ruined King if the gold allows (the fountain is the only shop in this mode). Health relics between waves keep her topped up; Life Steal helps with the rest.

Is Kalista good in ARAM?

Yes, with buffs on both lines (110% damage dealt, 90% damage taken) and a Rend that cashes in on enemies standing close together. Her weakness? Getting caught. Outside Martial Poise she has no dash, and random comps bring plenty of hooks and stuns.

The Kalista counters guide names the marksmen who give her trouble in lane, and her skins live on the Kalista skins page.

Put simply, the Kalista ARAM build is Blade of The Ruined King, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Runaan’s Hurricane and Guardian Angel on Berserker’s Greaves: spread spears, kite backward, and Rend the whole front line at once.
