Jinx ARAM Build and Guide
Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.
Jinx in ARAM deals 90% damage and takes 105% damage, a nerf on both sides. Her rocket launcher still splashes area damage across grouped enemies in the lane, and Get Excited! still chains resets off every kill. The nerfs are there because without them she would run over a mode built around nonstop five-on-five fights.
Jinx’s items here are chosen from their effect text this patch. We don’t use win-rate data.

How is Jinx changed in ARAM?
| ARAM modifier | Jinx |
|---|---|
| Damage dealt | 90% |
| Damage taken | 105% |
Both numbers hurt. She hits softer and takes more punishment, with no built-in sustain to fall back on. In practice, the damage-taken modifier is the one you feel first: a poke spell that would leave another marksman limping chunks Jinx a little harder, and health relics are the only way to recover between deaths.
Why does Jinx’s kit work in one lane?
Switcheroo! is the answer. Her Q swaps between Pow-Pow, a minigun that stacks attack speed per hit, and Fishbones, a rocket launcher that deals area damage at longer range but drains mana and attacks slower. Five enemies grouped in a lane turn every Fishbones rocket into a multi-target hit.
Get Excited!, her passive, hands her a massive move speed and attack speed boost whenever she helps kill a champion, epic jungle monster, or structure. In a single-lane, five-on-five mode the passive has more chances to trigger, and one reset feeds the next.
Zap! fires a blast that slows and reveals the first enemy hit, mostly useful for poking between fights. Flame Chompers! drops a line of snare grenades that root anyone who walks into them, and on the Howling Abyss there is just less room to sidestep. Then there’s the ult, Super Mega Death Rocket! flies across the whole map and deals damage based on missing health, so it picks off low targets from the far side of the bridge.
The catch is she has no escape. No shield and no dash, so the moment someone closes the gap there is nothing between Jinx and a fast death except whatever crowd control she manages to land in time. Flame Chompers is her strongest peel, Zap! slows too, but a root stops a diver cold, and at rank one that cooldown sits at 24 seconds (it drops to 10 at max rank, but you won’t have that early).
What should a Jinx ARAM build focus on?
Attack speed, crit, and range. Runaan’s Hurricane (40% Attack Speed, 25% Critical Strike Chance, 5% Move Speed) is the item that defines Jinx in ARAM team fights. Its Wind’s Fury passive fires bolts at two additional enemies near the target, applying on-hit effects, and when you combine that with Fishbones splash and a grouped enemy team, a single auto-attack reaches most of them.
Infinity Edge (75 Attack Damage, 25% Critical Strike Chance, 30% Critical Strike Damage) is the raw damage spike. Thing is, you want enough crit chance from other items before buying it so the 30% bonus crit damage fires often. Build order matters here.
Rapid Firecannon (35% Attack Speed, 25% Critical Strike Chance, 4% Move Speed) gives an energized attack that deals 40 bonus magic damage and gains 35% bonus attack range. Fishbones already adds range to Jinx’s attacks, and RFC adds further bonus attack range on its energized proc, so both contribute to hitting from farther away. The proc damage is small. But in a mode where everyone is stuck in one lane, that extra reach wins trades you had no business taking.
If burst keeps killing you before Get Excited! triggers, Immortal Shieldbow (55 Attack Damage, 25% Critical Strike Chance) gives a Lifeline shield when you drop below 30% health. On a champion with zero dashes, that shield can buy enough time for Flame Chompers or a teammate to peel the threat.
How do you play Jinx on the Howling Abyss?
Sure, it sounds obvious, but stay behind your team, because that one positioning rule is the entire game plan for a champion who depends on distance to survive every single fight.
- Open with Fishbones. The extra range and AoE let you poke before the fight commits. Switch to Pow-Pow when someone dives in, because the stacking attack speed melts a target who can’t walk away.
- Save Flame Chompers for divers. Drop them at your feet when an assassin jumps you, not at their feet from range. You get one root per fight at early ranks.
- Ult when they’re half, not dead. Super Mega Death Rocket! scales on missing health, so the ideal window is around 40 to 50% HP, not when they’re one auto from dead.
- After the first kill, Get Excited! makes you fast enough to chase or reposition. Don’t overchase. The lane ends.
How do shopping and Mark change the plan?
You can’t recall in ARAM. Jinx can only spend gold at the fountain, at game start and then on every respawn, so line up the next rocket-launcher upgrade before you go grey. Jinx has zero built-in healing, so you live and die by health relics between respawns, contest every single one.
A Mark snowball that connects opens a dash to its target. On Jinx, honestly, you rarely want to dash into anyone. She wants distance. So why take it at all? Because if Get Excited! is already running and you land Mark on a low-health carry in the back, the dash can finish a kill you’d never reach on foot. Pick carefully, since Jinx keeps those two spells until the end.
Is Jinx good in ARAM?
Look, she is good, and the nerfs tell you why: Riot wouldn’t reduce her damage and increase what she takes if she were average. The 90% damage dealt modifier holds back her AoE carry potential. But what happens when she gets that first kill and the passive kicks in? The fight can snowball quickly.
One thing that helps a Jinx ARAM game: having someone on the team who peels the first diver. For the Summoner’s Rift matchup side, see our Jinx counters guide. Her skins are on the Jinx champion page, and you can check build paths in the items database. We cover other ARAM picks in our champion guides too.
FAQ
Is Jinx nerfed in ARAM?
Yes. She deals 90% damage and takes 105% damage, according to the League of Legends Wiki’s ARAM data. Both modifiers are nerfs.
Why build Runaan’s Hurricane in ARAM?
Its Wind’s Fury passive fires bolts at two additional enemies near the target. Combined with Fishbones’ area damage, a single auto-attack can hit most of a grouped enemy team.
What items does Jinx build on the Howling Abyss?
Crit and attack speed items: Runaan’s Hurricane for AoE, Infinity Edge for crit damage, and Rapid Firecannon for extra attack range. Immortal Shieldbow is an option when burst damage is a problem.
Does Get Excited! trigger often in ARAM?
Yes. It fires whenever Jinx helps kill a champion, epic jungle monster, or structure, and a single-lane five-on-five mode gives it more chances to trigger than Summoner’s Rift.
Is this build based on win rates?
No. This Jinx build reflects patch 26.21 item text only.
