Gold efficiency
| Stat | Amount | Gold per point | Gold value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Attack Speed % | 35 | 25 g | 875 g |
| Critical Strike Chance % | 25 | 40 g | 1000 g |
| Move Speed % | 4 | 75 g | 300 g |
| Total stat value | 2175 g |
Gold efficiency = stat value ÷ item cost = 2175 ÷ 2650 = 82%. The gold per point comes from basic items of the same patch (for example, Long Sword: 35 g per Attack Damage). Passives and actives are not counted.

Rapid Firecannon is a 2,650 gold crit item in League of Legends whose whole point is a single long-range shot every so often, the kind that lets a short-range marksman poke from a spot the enemy can’t answer. In patch 26.21 it carries 25% crit chance, plus 35% Attack Speed and a small 4% Move Speed bonus. Its Sharpshooter passive makes your Energized attack deal 40 bonus magic damage and reach 35% farther than a normal attack.
What does Sharpshooter do?
It upgrades your Energized attack. Energized stacks build as you move and attack, and when they’re full, your next attack gets 35% bonus Attack Range and deals 40 extra magic damage.
The range is the part players buy it for. A marksman with an average attack range suddenly gets one shot that outranges most of the opposing bot lane, which is great for poking in lane, finishing a fleeing target, or hitting a tower from a safer distance. Ever lost a kill by a few units? This is the item for exactly that moment.
The damage bonus is flat, so it matters most early in the game, when 40 magic damage is a real chunk of an enemy’s Health. Late in the game, it’s the range that keeps the passive useful.
Is Rapid Firecannon gold efficient?
Not quite break-even on stats, at 82%. The three priced stats come to 2,175 gold for a 2,650 gold item.
Broken down: 35% Attack Speed at 25 gold per percent makes 875 gold, 25% crit at 40 gold per percent makes 1,000, and 4% Move Speed at 75 gold per percent makes 300. The missing 475 gold pays for Sharpshooter. To be fair, the extra range is hard to price at all, and for a short-range marksman it’s worth more than any stat on the list.
What does it build from?
Zeal for 1,200 gold and Scout’s Slingshot for 600, then a 850 gold combine. Same two parts as Runaan’s Hurricane, so you can hold Zeal and the Slingshot and pick between long-range poke and multi-target bolts based on how the game is going. It’s a finished item.
Which part should you buy first? Zeal, almost always, because it already carries crit chance, Attack Speed and the Move Speed (the Slingshot only adds Attack Speed).
How has it changed?
It’s been reworked several times. The item dates back to patch 5.22 in Riot’s data. In patch 13.10 it briefly picked up Attack Damage, and patch 14.10 removed it again:
- Patch 13.10: cost 2,500 → 3,000 gold, Attack Damage added at 30, Attack Speed 35% → 15%.
- Patch 14.1: Attack Speed 15% → 20%.
- Patch 14.10: cost 3,000 → 2,600 gold, Attack Damage removed, Attack Speed 20% → 35%, crit chance 20% → 25%.
- Patch 14.19: Move Speed down from 7% to 4%, and the price up to 2,650 gold.
So the 14.10 version is the one you buy today, apart from the small 14.19 trim. Honestly, a guide that mentions Attack Damage on this item is describing the 2023 version (13.10 to 14.1), not the current one.
Who should build Rapid Firecannon?
Crit marksmen with short base attack range, who benefit most from one long shot, and any marksman who wants to poke towers or enemies from a safer spot. It’s often a second or third item.
Long-range marksmen gain less from the extra range, since they already outrange most targets (an extra slice of range on top of a long base range rarely changes a fight). If your fights are big teamfights with everyone grouped, Runaan’s bolts may do more damage in total. Look, it’s a positioning item at heart: if you keep losing trades because the enemy marksman outranges you, Rapid Firecannon evens that out.
