Jayce ARAM Build and Guide
Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.
A Jayce ARAM build is a poke path: Mana, Lethality and Ability Haste so gate-boosted Shock Blasts keep landing from range. The Howling Abyss gives him 105% damage dealt and lists no other modifier, so it’s a small buff on top of a kit that already suits a single long lane.
The items were matched to his patch 26.21 ability text one at a time. Win rates weren’t part of the process.

How is Jayce changed in ARAM?
| ARAM modifier | Jayce |
|---|---|
| Damage dealt | 105% |
A single line, and it’s in his favor. Jayce deals 105% damage on the Howling Abyss, and the Wiki’s data lists nothing else for him: no change to damage taken, healing or haste. For a poke champion that buff applies to every Shock Blast, every hammer combo and every Lightning Field tick. Not huge. To be fair, a few percent on each orb adds up over a twenty-minute game of nonstop poke (and ARAM games are mostly poke until someone engages).
Why does Jayce fit the Howling Abyss?
The lane is long and narrow, and Jayce’s best tool is a long, straight shot. His kit, from Riot’s patch 26.21 data:
- Hextech Capacitor (passive): a short burst of Move Speed each time he swaps weapons.
- To the Skies! / Shock Blast (Q): Hammer Stance leaps to an enemy for physical damage and a slow; Cannon Stance fires an orb that detonates on an enemy or at the end of its path, dealing physical damage to all enemies hit. Cooldown 16/14/12/10/8/6.
- Lightning Field / Hyper Charge (W): in hammer form he restores Mana per strike and can create a field that damages nearby enemies; in cannon form he gets maximum Attack Speed for several attacks. Cooldown 10.
- Thundering Blow / Acceleration Gate (E): the hammer deals magic damage and knocks an enemy back; the cannon places a gate that speeds up allied champions and boosts the speed, range and damage of any Shock Blast fired through it. Cooldown 20/18/16/14/12/10.
- Mercury Cannon / Mercury Hammer (R): swaps stance on a 6 second cooldown, with a first-attack bonus each way (Armor and Magic Resist shred going to cannon, bonus magic damage going to hammer).
Shock Blast through the gate is the whole reason he’s picked here. It explodes on the first enemy or at the end of its path, damaging everyone caught, and in a lane where five enemies stand roughly in a line, one orb often hits more than one of them. The gate also speeds up allied champions who pass through it, which helps a team engage or run. Honestly, the hammer is the riskier half on this map (by a lot). To the Skies! leaps him into a crowd of five, and his only exit afterward is Hextech Capacitor’s Move Speed after swapping back.
What should a Jayce ARAM build focus on?
Mana and Ability Haste for more Shock Blasts, Lethality so each one hits harder, and one defensive slot for the moments the hammer goes wrong. Four items plus boots.
Manamune first. It carries 35 Attack Damage, 500 Mana and 15 Ability Haste, and Manaflow adds max Mana whenever attacks or abilities land, doubled against champions, until it becomes Muramana at 360 max Mana. In a mode that’s mostly poke, Shock Blast stacks it quickly. Awe then turns the Mana into extra Attack Damage, so the item keeps paying off as the game goes on.
Youmuu’s Ghostblade is next, for 55 Attack Damage and 18 Lethality, plus Haunt’s Move Speed out of combat. Wraith Step adds Move Speed and Ghosting on activation, which is useful for repositioning between poke angles or escaping after a hammer combo. Why Lethality over bruiser stats? It matters more here than on most fighters, since the targets of a Shock Blast in ARAM are usually squishy backliners who haven’t built Armor.
Serylda’s Grudge takes slot three with 35% Armor Penetration for when the tanks start stacking Armor, and Bitter Cold slows enemies below 50% Health whenever an ability damages them. Every Shock Blast becomes a slow on a low target, which sets up the next one (and the one after that).
Edge of Night closes it out. Annul grants a Spell Shield that blocks the next enemy ability, which is the safety net a hammer-form Jayce needs after leaping into the crowd, and the 250 Health helps too. One item to skip, funny enough: Axiom Arc refunds part of your ultimate’s cooldown on takedowns, and Jayce’s ultimate is a stance swap on a 6 second cooldown already. For boots, Ionian Boots of Lucidity give 10 Ability Haste for 900 gold.
How do you play Jayce on the Howling Abyss?
- Fire Shock Blast through the gate whenever you can. The boosted orb gains speed, range and damage, and the narrow lane makes it hard to dodge.
- Aim at the first champion in the line. Shock Blast detonates on the first enemy it hits, damaging everyone around the impact.
- Stay in cannon form for most of the fight. The hammer leap commits you to melee against five people with one escape.
- Use Acceleration Gate for your team, too. It speeds up allied champions passing through, which helps an engage or a retreat.
- Swap to hammer to finish, not to start. To the Skies! and Thundering Blow are best on a target your poke has already weakened.
How do shopping and summoner spells work for Jayce?
You can’t recall in ARAM. The fountain is the only shop, at the start and after each death, so the first purchase should head toward Manamune, because Manaflow stacks from the first Shock Blast and you want those stacks counting as early as possible. Health relics on the lane are worth grabbing between poke cycles, since Jayce has no healing of his own.
Summoner spells lock in before loading. The ARAM snowball, Mark, gives a dash onto any champion it connects with. Is that good on Jayce? Sometimes, as a follow-up after a Shock Blast leaves someone low, letting hammer form finish them. For what it’s worth, Flash is the safer pick, since most of his ARAM game happens at cannon range.
Is Jayce good in ARAM?
Yes. With 105% damage dealt and no other change, he plays his normal kit with a slight boost, and that kit is built for poke in a narrow lane. Gate-boosted Shock Blasts are hard to dodge here. Real talk, his problem is hard engage. A tank who reaches him while he’s in cannon form forces the swap, and the swap only buys Move Speed.
His top lane matchups are covered in the Jayce counters guide. Our guide to LoL roles explains the top lane on Summoner’s Rift, the LoL items database has full details on each item above, and the Jayce skins page lists his cosmetics.
In practice, the Jayce ARAM build is Manamune, Youmuu’s Ghostblade, Serylda’s Grudge and Edge of Night, and the plan is a gate-boosted Shock Blast every time the cooldown is up.
FAQ
Is Jayce buffed in ARAM?
Slightly. His only ARAM line in the Wiki’s patch 26.21 data is damage dealt at 105%.
What items does the Jayce ARAM build use?
Manamune, Youmuu’s Ghostblade, Serylda’s Grudge and Edge of Night, with Ionian Boots of Lucidity.
Does Shock Blast get stronger through Acceleration Gate?
Yes. A Shock Blast fired through the gate gains missile speed, range and damage, according to Riot’s ability description.
Why skip Axiom Arc on Jayce?
Axiom Arc refunds part of the ultimate’s cooldown on takedowns. Jayce’s ultimate is a stance swap with a 6 second cooldown, so the refund does very little.
Were win rates used for this build?
No. We read what his abilities do in patch 26.21 and kept the items whose passives line up with poke, Mana and the hammer dive.
