First time I saw SKT T1 Zed load into a game I thought it was a custom skin someone modded in. The red and black palette with that SKT logo on the back just hits different from anything else in Zed’s lineup. Been running this one on and off since season 5 I think, and it still holds up in a weird nostalgic way even if the skin itself is pretty bare bones.
What the skin actually changes on Zed
Real talk though, this is a 750 RP Standard tier skin. You’re getting a model swap and thats about it. No new VFX on Q, W, E, or R. No VO refresh. Voice lines stay base. The shadow clones keep the same purple tint from default Zed which honestly feels like a missed opportunity. Would have been cool to see red shadows matching the SKT jersey vibe.
The model itself looks clean. Red and silver armor pieces replace the dark ninja aesthetic, and the SKT T1 logo sits prominently on the back. The shoulder guards have this metallic finish that catches light nicely on Summoner’s Rift. In teamfights you can still track your shadows fine, the red stands out enough against most map textures. Played maybe 40 games with this last month in Diamond and never had a moment where I confused my W shadow placement because of the skin.
No new recall animation either. You get base Zed’s recall which is whatever. For 750 RP I wasnt expecting much on that front. The auto attack animations feel identical to base, same fluid shuriken throws on the ranged passive proc. Simple change – clean execution.
The 2013 Worlds legacy and Bo Lu’s splash
SKT T1 Zed dropped May 4, 2014 as part of the World Champions: 2013 skinline. This was Faker’s Zed pick, the one that spawned a thousand highlight reels. Bo Lu handled the artwork and honestly the splash captures something special. Faker’s Zed outplay against Ryu is probably the most replayed clip in League history (sidebar: I still watch it at least twice a year, no shame).
The World Champions: 2013 line was one of Riot’s earlier esports tribute sets. Not sure if it’s just me but these older Worlds skins have a charm the newer ones lack. Less overproduced. The SKT T1 branding feels authentic, not corporate.
Legacy vault skin so you cant just grab it from the shop whenever. Gotta wait for special events or get lucky with Hextech crafting. One Paragon chroma exists if you can find it, adds a teal and purple color shift that honestly looks cleaner than the base red in certain lighting. Seen maybe two people with the chroma in my games all season.
Should you buy SKT T1 Zed?
Straight talk: 750 RP feels fair for what you get. You’re paying for the esports legacy more than the cosmetic upgrades. If you’re a Zed one-trick who watches pro play and respects the history, this skin carries weight that Galaxy Slayer or PROJECT cant match. Pure nostalgia tax and I’m fine with it.
Not gonna lie, if you want flashy VFX and new voice lines on your Zed, skip this entirely. Go Legendary or higher. But if you’ve been climbing with Zed since the early seasons and want something that says “I was here before everyone and their duo started locking in Zed,” this is the one. Could be wrong here but I think the simplicity is what makes it age well. Last Tuesday I got complimented on it in champ select by an enemy Ahri main. Still counts.
Best sentimental Zed skin full stop. Not the best looking, not the most feature rich. Just the one with the most soul.
