Ocean Song Zeri

First game I played with Ocean Song Zeri was around 1 AM on a Thursday, right after the skin dropped in June 2022. Locked it in for a ranked game and immediately noticed the vibe shift. Zeri already feels like she’s moving at lightspeed, but this skin wraps her in this beachy, tropical energy that somehow makes the gameplay feel smoother. Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack animations just read cleaner with the water particles. Been running this in Diamond for a while now and it still holds up.

What Ocean Song Zeri actually brings to the table

So the big draw here is the VFX overhaul. Every ability gets the water treatment. Her Q shoots these bright aqua bolts that pop against the Rift’s green and brown tones. Easier to track your own projectiles in a chaotic teamfight, which matters when you’re kiting three people as Zeri. The W laser becomes this wave of pressurized water that cuts through terrain with a satisfying visual punch.

E is where it gets fun. The dash leaves behind a trail of splashing water particles. Looks clean. Feels fast. Her ult cranks everything up with swirling water effects around her model, and the empowered autos during ult have this bright teal glow thats hard to miss. In a late-game comp where you’re trying to navigate the backline and proc your ult stacks, the visual clarity actually helps.

The recall animation is new too. Zeri rides a wave back to base with a surfboard. Simple change – huge impact on the feel. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but honestly Zeri’s base voice is already pretty energetic so it fits the theme without feeling off. (Random aside: the recall animation alone made my duo partner buy the skin immediately.)

Model-wise she’s wearing this bright summer outfit with water-themed accents. Hair gets a blue-green gradient. The gun redesign is solid, it looks like some kind of water blaster which fits the Ocean Song line perfectly. Not groundbreaking for an Epic skin but everything is cohesive.

The Ocean Song line and release context

Ocean Song Zeri dropped June 9, 2022. Mid-season 12. Terence ‘Terrylefruit’ Cantal nailed the splash, the whole piece radiates summer energy with Zeri front and center looking like she’s about to headline a beach concert.

The Ocean Song skinline is one of Riot’s lighter themed drops. Seraphine got one, Yone got one, Nidalee too. It’s basically the music festival meets beach party concept. Zeri fits naturally into this line because her whole kit is about speed and energy. The water motif works with her electric theme without feeling forced. Kinda feels like Riot designed the skinline with Zeri in mind honestly.

8 chromas total for Ocean Song Zeri. Obsidian is the standout for me, takes the bright summer palette and makes it darker and more aggressive. Sapphire leans into a deeper ocean blue that reads really well in game. Pearl goes pale and ethereal which some people love but I think it loses some of the skin’s personality. The rest are fine but those three are the ones worth considering. Not gonna lie, Obsidian with the dark water VFX is probably cleaner than the base version of the skin.

Is Ocean Song Zeri worth picking up?

Real verdict: if you’re a Zeri main climbing in ranked, this is one of her better options. The VFX clarity during ult is genuinely useful when you’re trying to cs and kite in a teamfight simultaneously. Been spamming this in Diamond since maybe season 13 or so and I keep coming back to it over Withered Rose.

Three things stood out after 100+ games: ult VFX readability, the recall, and overall model quality. For an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP it delivers what you’d expect. New particles, new recall, solid model. You know what surprised me? The E particles. That wall dash with the water trail behind it looks way better than it has any right to for this price point.

Maybe just my experience but Ocean Song Zeri feels like the skin Riot put the most thought into from that batch. Seraphine got the prestige treatment but Zeri got the better base skin. Fair price for the package. If you main Zeri or even just play her in your ADC rotation, this one earns a spot. Skip it if you already have Fright Night and dont need a second Zeri skin in the collection, but for a first purchase this is the one I’d recommend.

Best part is the skin ages well. Season 12 release but the VFX still look current. No outdated particle work, no janky animations. Solid pick for Zeri one-tricks and anyone who wants their bot lane to look good while they’re peel kiting through the entire enemy team.
